What is New in KEAM 2025?

Last year some major changes were introduced in the KEAM exam, and the same will be applicable this year too. The changes made to KEAM last year are given below:

  • Offline mode to CBT mode: KEAM exam transformed from an offline pen-and-paper test to a computer-based test.
  • Exam in shifts: The exam will be conducted in phases, as it would not be possible to arrange over 1.2 lakh computer terminals at the same time.
  • Normalisation of scores: There will be normalisation of scores for engineering and pharmacy exams.
  • Mock tests: Candidates will be able to practice mock tests on entering the exam hall for 15 minutes before the actual exam starts.
  • Effective post-exam activities: The post-examination process will take less time like answer key release and result declaration. Until last year over three to four weeks were required to scan the OMR sheets. Once the exam becomes computer-based, evaluation becomes faster with the scores being made available to the candidates in the shortest time.

Q:   What is the new exam pattern of KEAM?

A:

As per the new KEAM exam pattern, applicable from 2024 onwards - KEAM will be held in computer-based test mode and there will be one paper with three sections (maths, Physics, Chemistry) for BTech candidates and two (Physics, Chemistry) for BPharm candidates. The KEAM entrance exam for engineering courses will consist of 150 questions, with Mathematics having 75 questions, Physics having 45 questions and Chemistry having 30 questions. Candidates will have 180 minutes to complete the exam. For candidates appearing for KEAM BPharm ONLY, the entrance exam will have 45 questions in Physics and 30 questions in Chemistry, to be completed within 90 minutes. Q:   What is new in KEAM exam?

A:

In 2024, KEAM transitioned form a pen and paper based test to a computer based test. The exam started to be conducted in phases, as it would not be possible to arrange over 1.2 lakh computer terminals at the same time. Since the exam is now held in shifts, normalisation of scores for engineering and pharmacy exams has been introduced. Alo the syllabus of the KEAM exam has been changed in 2024. The new revised syllabus must be downloaded from the KEAM official website and used for the exam preparation.

Thumbs Up IconUpvote Thumbs Down Icon

Q:   What is KEAM computer-based test?

A:

KEAM computer-based test (CBT) is an examination administered and taken on a computer or a computerised device. Test questions and answer options are presented on a computer screen, and the candidate responds using input devices such as a mouse or keyboard. The exam is timed, requiring candidates to complete the test within the specified duration. The transition of KEAM exam from traditional pen-and-paper formats to computer-based formats has been accelerated by the widespread adoption of technology and its efficiency, impacting entrance exams and certification processes.

Thumbs Up IconUpvote Thumbs Down Icon

Q:   What is the benefit of KEAM CBT test as compared to pen and paper based test?

A:

KEAM CBT is much more efficient as compared to the offline exam. The post-examination process takes less time like answer key release and result declaration. Until last year over three to four weeks were required to scan the OMR sheets. To determine your eligibility for KEAM (Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical) entrance exam, we need to consider the eligibility criteria set by the conducting authority, which is the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala. As per the general eligibility criteria for KEAM candidates must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology as compulsory subjects. The minimum required percentage in the qualifying examination varies depending on the category to which you belong. However, please note that the specific eligibility criteria for KEAM may change from year to year, and it's important to refer to the official notification or website of CEE Kerala for the most accurate and up-to-date information. Based on the information you provided, if you have passed the 12th examination with Physics Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics as compulsory subjects and obtained an overall percentage of 70.5%, you appear to meet the eligibility criteria for KEAM. However, it's crucial to check the official notification or website of CEE Kerala to verify the exact eligibility requirements for the current year. Additionally, keep in mind that eligibility is just one aspect, and the actual admission and seat allotment process depend on several factors, including your KEAM rank and the availability of seats in the participating colleges. It's advisable to review the complete admission process, including the entrance exam, counseling, and seat allotment, as outlined by CEE Kerala for the most accurate understanding of the requirements and procedures.

The Centralised Allotment Process will be done through the Single Window System (SWS) to give allotments to the various courses and colleges under the State's Engineering/ Architecture/ Pharmacy/Medical streams. This is a system of ‘Allotments through Online Submission of Options’. The options are the willingness of a candidate who qualified with a rank in the rank lists of KEAM-2025 to join a course-college combination prioritised as per his/her aspiration and desire.

Seats in Government/Aided/KAU/KVASU/KUFOS/government cost-sharing/ Private Self Financing/Autonomous Colleges to be allotted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations are included in the CAP. They are done as per the provisions of allotment.

Q:   How is the KEAM counselling process held?

A:
The KEAM (Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical) counseling process is held in several rounds, and it is conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala. The counseling process for KEAM is conducted in online mode. Here are the general steps involved in the KEAM counseling process: 1)Registration: Candidates who have qualified the KEAM entrance exam need to register themselves for the counseling process by visiting the official website of CEE, Kerala. 2)Document verification: After registration, candidates are required to visit the designated centers for document verification. Q:   I have 30600 rank in KEAM exam. Can I get any government college for B.Tech?

A:

KEAM (Kerala Engineering, Architecture, Medical) is an entrance examination for admission to various professional courses in Kerala, including B.Tech.

The admission cutoffs for government engineering colleges through KEAM can vary each year based on factors such as the number of applicants and their performance in the exam. Government colleges often have limited seats, and the cutoff rank for admission can be competitive.

With a rank of 30,600 in KEAM, your chances of getting admission to government engineering colleges may depend on the availability of seats and the preferences of other candidates with higher ranks.

To get a better understanding of your chances of admission to government engineering colleges with your rank, you can refer to the official KEAM website or the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Kerala website for the previous year's cutoff ranks for government colleges. Additionally, keep an eye on the official notifications and counseling updates for the current year's admission process.

You may also consider exploring private engineering colleges and other alternative options for B.Tech admission if government college seats are limited. Remember to research the colleges, their accreditation, placement records, and other aspects to make an informed decision.

Q:   How do the difficulty levels and cutoffs of KCET and KEAM compare?

A:
KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) and KEAM (Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical) are both state-level entrance exams conducted for admission to various undergraduate courses in engineering, architecture, and pharmacy in the respective states of Karnataka and Kerala. There are some differences between the two colleges when it comes to difficulty levels and cutoffs: Difficulty Level: The difficulty level of KCET is generally considered to be moderate, with questions mostly based on the State Board syllabus. On the other hand, KEAM is known to be a bit more challenging, with questions covering a wider range of topics. Cutoffs: The cutoffs for both exams vary depending on various factors such as the difficulty level of the exam, the number of candidates appearing for the exam, and the number of available seats. However, in general, the cutoffs for KEAM are higher than KCET due to the higher difficulty level of the exam. It is important to note that both KCET and KEAM are highly competitive exams, and the cutoffs may vary from year to year depending on various factors.
