KSET exam pattern 2024 is such that the test comprises two papers- Paper I and II. Both KSET papers are conducted on the same day in a different combined session. Candidates need to appear for both papers to qualify for the exam. Both papers comprise multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Paper I contains 50 MCQs and Paper 2 contains 100 MCQs. Each question of both papers carries 2 marks. The duration of the exam is three hours. It is a pen-and-paper (offline) based test. KSET exam pattern highlights the overall structure of the exam such as the number of sections, total marks, marking scheme, exam duration, etc.

Q:   Is it mandatory to appear for both papers of KSET exam?

A:

Yes, it is mandatory for candidates to appear for both KSET Paper 1 and 2 to qualify for the KSET exam. The candidates have to qualify for both papers separately. Candidates who will qualify for one paper will not be considered as qualified for the KSET exam. Paper 1 consists 50 questions for 100 marks. Paper 2 consists 100 questions for 200 marks. The candidates are advised to study paper 1 as paper 2 or they will not qualify for the KSET exam.

KSET Paper I Exam Pattern 2024

The KSET Paper I tends to assess the teaching/research aptitude of candidates. It primarily tests – the reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness (relating to Karnataka state geographical, climate, environment, historical, political, social, economic, education, and technological knowledge) of the candidate. Q:   How many attempts are allowed in KSET exam?

A:

There is no limit to the number of attempts allowed for the KSET exam. As long as a candidate meets the eligibility criteria, they can appear for the exam in any number of attempts. The KSET exam is conducted twice a year, and candidates who are not able to qualify in one attempt can appear for the next cycle of the exam. However, it is important to note that candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria for each attempt and pay the application fee for each attempt separately. Also, candidates who have already qualified for the KSET exam are eligible to appear again for the same subject and category.

   Candidates will not be able to edit all the details mentioned in the KCET application form 2024 and can modify a few details only. The KCET correction facility 2024 will be available only for registered candidates. Candidates have to ensure that all the corrections are done within the specified time.

f) Syllabus: Based on the subject selected by the candidate. The KSET exam is conducted in online mode. The questions in both papers are in English and Hindi except for languages other than English and Hindi.

Q:   What is the criteria for qualifying KSET exam?

A:
The criteria for qualifying the KSET exam are as follows: a) Minimum marks: Candidates need to secure the minimum qualifying marks in both paper 1 and paper 2 to qualify for the exam. General category candidates must score 40 per cent aggregate marks in both papers. OBC NCL, SC, ST, and PWD category candidates have to secure 35 per cent aggregate marks in both papers b) Top 6% of candidates: In addition to the above criteria, the top 6% of candidates who appear for both papers and score the minimum qualifying marks will be declared NET qualified for eligibility for Assistant Professor only. It is important to note that the KSET exam is conducted for two different purposes: to determine the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professorship and PhD. T Candidates who qualify the KSET exam become eligible for Assistant Professorship in Karnataka universities and colleges.

Q:   Are NCERT books sufficient for the preparation of KSET exam?

A:

NCERT books can be beneficial for the aspirants in the initial days of preparation, especially for paper 1. However, it will not cover all the topics in detail. Sometimes KSET exam covers a wide range from all topics and may the NCERT book will not cover the topics in depth. Therefore, the candidates are advised to go through the detailed books and other study materials. Additionally solving previous years' question papers are taking mock tests can also be helpful in preparing for the KSET exam.
