UGC NET Exam Date 2024 OUT: Check Subject-wise December Examination Details

Yes. The authority released the UGC NET 2024 notification & application form for the December session. It was released at ugcnet.nta.ac.in. Filling out the UGC NET application is divided into five stages: registration form, application form, image & signature upload, application fee, and confirmation page. The candidates need to fill out the complete application to get the hall ticket for the UGC NET exam 2024 for December session.

The UGC NET exam is conducted in two shifts morning and evening. The NTA (National Testing Agency) provides 541 exam centres across India in several districts for the candidates. The exam shift timing of the UGC NET 2024 exam is as follows: a) First Shift - 9.00 am to 12.00 pm b) Second Shift: 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm The candidates are advised to report to the exam centre 30 minutes before the GATE closing time to avoid any mishap at the exam centre. The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the UGC NET June cycle 2024 re-exam dates on the official website. The UGC NET 2024 exam was started on August 21 and the last exam was on September 4. Earlier, the exam was cancelled due to the integrity issues on June 19, 2024.

The candidates must take a note that UGC NET application form for the year 2024 is yet to be released by the UGC/NTA and it is expected to be released in the month of February 2024.

The UGC NET 2024 exam was cancelled due to compromise in the integrity of the exam. The information of the compromise was provided by the National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs on the Examination. the investigation of the UGC NET exam compromise has been handed over to the Crime  Bureau of Investigation (C.B.I). UGC NET 2023 exam for the June cycle was carried out between June 13 to 22, 2023. The exam was conducted online CBT mode and comprises two papers-1 and 2. The duration of the test was three hours. Paper 1 carried 50 questions and Paper 2 carried 100 questions. There were no negative marking for wrong answers. The language of the question paper was English and Hindi. The questions in the exam are generic in nature, intending to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It was primarily designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness of the candidate. The Paper 2 carries questions related to the subject chosen by candidates.

The National Testing Agency NTA announces the exam dates and schedule of the UGC NET examination for all papers and subjects on behalf of UGC. The NTA will conduct the UGC NET exam for December session. The notification will be released on the official website. Currently, the exam is being conducted twice a year in the months of June and December. The two cycles are announced separately for the candidates every year. However, the UGC NET exam was conducted in merged cycle from 2019 to June 2022 due to pandemic.

Paper 2: a) Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes combining both papers) b) Total marks: 200 c) Number of questions: 100 d) Type of questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) e) Marking scheme: Each question carries 2 marks. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers. f) Syllabus: Based on the subject selected by the candidate. The UGC NET exam is conducted in online mode. The questions in both papers are in English and Hindi except for languages other than English and Hindi. Candidates need to secure the minimum qualifying marks in both papers to be eligible for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

There is no recommended dress code by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and Univeristy Grants Commission (UGC) in order to appear for the UGC NET. However, the candidates takig the exam are advised to do the following thing before appearing for the exam:

• Attire: Candidates should not wear shoes or footwear with thick soles. Also, candidates must not wear clothes with large buttons to the test centre.  
• Personal belongings: Candidates should not carry any personal belongings such as mobile phones, purses or electronic devices such as calculators inside the test centre. Exam authority will not be responsible for the safe keep of the personal belongings of candidates.

The candidates who are going to appear for the UGC NET 2024 exam must check the exam day guidelines:

• Candidates must reach the test centre as per the reporting time mentioned on the admit card;
• Candidates should read the instructions on the admit card carefully and follow them during the exam.
• No candidate will be allowed to enter the exam hall without the admit card and photo ID proof.
• Candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam centre after 9.00 am in the first shift and after 2.30 pm in the second shift.
• Candidates should report at the exam room at the centres by 9.15 am in the first shift and by 2.45 pm in the second shift.
• Candidates must not leave the UGC NET exam hall before the paper ends.
• On completion of the paper, candidates must wait for the instructions from the invigilator and must not right away get up from their seat to leave the exam hall.
• Candidates wearing special attire such as burqa, hijab, turban, etc. must reach the exam centre early for thorough checking.
• Candidates should sit on the seat indicating their roll numbers only. The candidature will stand cancelled if candidates change their room or seat on their own.
• Candidates must ensure that the UGC NET question paper 2023 available on the computer is as per their opted subject. In case otherwise, candidates must bring the same to the notice of the invigilator.
• Calculations and rough work are to be done only in the rough sheet provided at the centres.
• No candidate should involve in any unfair practices during the exam.
