UPTET Exam Pattern 2024 is prescribed by the UP Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC). The UPTET Exam Pattern is the most important aspect of the UPTET 2024 exam. UPTET Exam Pattern helps candidates to know the pattern of the exam, syllabus & marking scheme of the UPTET 2024 Exam. The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) is conducted for two papers – Paper 1 and 2. 

Candidates need to appear for Paper 1 if they plan to teach Classes 1-5. On the other hand, candidates need to appear for Paper 2 if they plan to teach Classes 6-8. The exam pattern differs for both papers in terms of the number of subjects and the total number of questions. Q:   What is the duration of UPTET Exam?

The duration of the UPTET (Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test) Exam is 2.5 hours (150 minutes) for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. The exam is conducted in two shifts, with Paper 1 conducted in the morning shift and Paper 2 conducted in the afternoon shift. Each paper of the UPTET Exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with each question carrying one mark. Q:   How to get a job after qualifying for UPTET?

After qualifying the UPTET exam, the candidates are awarded with the eligibility Certificate. UPTET does not guarantee any job after the candidate qualifies the exam. Though, the candidates will become eligible for the recruitment exam after qualifying for the UPTET exam. The recruitment exam for recruiting teachers in the school of Uttar Pradesh. The candidates can apply for the different vacancies according to their eligibility. The UP government releases the vacancies for the teachers according to the need of the state.

Q:   How many papers does one need to give to qualify the UPTET exam?

A:

Candidates planning to teach Classes 1 to 5 need to qualify UPTET Paper 1. Candidates planning to teach Classes 6 to 8 need to qualify for UPTET Paper 2. Candidates planning to teach Classes 1 to 8 need to qualify both papers. The candidates have to apply for the papers according to their eligibility set by the board. The educational qualification criteria has been given below for the candidates:

  • Paper 1 
    • Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education
    • Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd)
  • Paper 2
    • Graduation with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education. Graduation with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in one-year BEd.

Q:   In which mode the UPTET exam is conducted?

A:
The UPTET exam is conducted in offline mode as a pen-and-paper based test. Candidates need to mark their answers on the OMR sheet. The candidates need to fill the sheet carefully as no extra OMR sheet will not be given in the exam. However, the UPTET application process is complete online process. The candidates have to fill out he application form online on the official website. Other than this the application fee have to paid online.

UPTET Exam Pattern: Nature & Level of Questions in Paper 1

Have a look at a few important points on the nature and level of questions asked in Paper 1 below:

  • Questions in the Child Development and Pedagogy section focus on the educational psychology and teaching methods for students belonging to the age group of 6-11 years
  • Language-II is a separate language from language-I. Candidates can choose any one language out of the available options (English/Urdu/Sanskrit) as Language-II at the time of filing the UPTET application form. Questions in language-II focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities.

  • Questions in Mathematics and Environmental Studies focus on the concepts of these subjects, problem-solving abilities and understanding of teaching methods. Questions in these subject areas are distributed equally in the different sections of the syllabus of that subject.

  • The questions in Paper 1 are based on the topics prescribed in the Basic Education Council syllabus for Classes 1 to 5, but their difficulty level is of intermediate level

UPTET Paper 2 Exam Pattern is divided into four sections. The first three sections contain 30 questions each and the fourth section contains 60 questions. In the fourth section, candidates have the choice to appear for either Mathematics and Science or Social Studies subject. Candidates need to complete the exam in a duration of two hours and thirty minutes. The exam is conducted as a pen-paper-based test.

Q:   Is UPTET Certificate valid for a lifetime?

A:

The UPTET certificate is now valid forever. Ramesh Pokhariyal, Indian Education Minister has announced that the validity of the TET certificate is extended for a lifetime. Earlier the validity of the certificates was 5 years. Candidates qualifying for the UPTET 2024 exam will be the first batch of candidates with a lifetime UPTET certificate. They can apply for teacher recruitment in Uttar Pradesh schools at any point in time till they fulfil the eligibility criteria fixed by the respective recruiting agency.

UPTET Negative Marking 2024

UPTET Exam Pattern 2024 doesn't consist of any UPTET Negative Marking 2024. That means UPTET 2024 exam doesn't have any Negative Marking. According to UPTET Marking Scheme proposed by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), one mark is allotted for every correct answer and there is no negative marking in the UPTET 2024 exam.

UPTET Preparation Tips 2024

Candidates who are willing to join govt. primary and upper primary schools in Uttar Pradesh must take the UPTET exam. To qualify for the UPTET exam candidates should start preparing for the exam early. Candidates need to develop a strategy that will cover every section of the syllabus. After going through the syllabus the candidates need to practice mock tests and the previous year's question papers. Candidates need to identify their weak areas and strong areas. So, they can know about the section to take first and last. Candidates should take mock tests in the exam conditions to analyse their performance to know where they went wrong.
