WB SET result 2024 will be released by the West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) soon for the 26th SET exam. The WB SET results will be declared on the official website- www.wbcsconline.in or www.wbcsc.org.in/wbcsc. To check the WB SET result 2024, candidates need to log in using the username and password on the link activated by the WBCSC. The 26th SET result will be available as a scorecard containing the marks obtained by candidates in the examination.

The WB SET 2024 will be held in December to determine the eligibility of candidates as Assistant Professors in universities and colleges of the state. 

Q:   I have secured the minimum qualifying marks for the WB SET exam for Assistant Professor; still I am not qualified, why?

A:

The candidates need to qualify for both papers that are paper 1 and paper 2 in order to be eligible to qualify for the WB SET exam. The candidates have to score a minimum of 40 per cent marks (Unreserved category) and 35 per cent of marks to qualify for the WB SET exam. However, among the candidates crossing the minimum qualifying marks, the top 6 per cent of the candidates will be made qualified for the Assistant Professor.

Q:   I want my WB SET score to be re-evaluated. What is the process for the same?

A:

There is no provision for re-evaluation/re-checking of WB SET result. The official notification reads, No correspondence in this regard shall be entertained. The candidates can only raise objections against the provisional answer key. Based on the objections raised by the candidates the final answer key and the result is released.

Q:   What is the WB SET exam pattern?

The WB SET (West Bengal State Eligibility Test) exam pattern is prescribed by the West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC). The candidatesappearing for the WB SET exam must know the exam pattern. The WB SET exam pattern has been given below:

  • Paper 1 consists of 50 questions, all are compulsory
  • Total marks for Paper 1 are 100
  • The duration of the Paper 1 is of one hour
  • Paper 2 consists of 100 objective type questions, all are compulsory, each carrying 2 marks
  • Total marks for Paper 2 is 200
  • Duration of the Paper 2 is 2 hours

WB SET Result Preparation Criteria

The WBCSC follows a particular criteria and procedure for the declaration of WB SET results. Have a look at the step-wise WB SET result preparation criteria below:

  • Step 1: The number of candidates to be declared qualified in WB SET exam should be equal to 6% of the total candidates who appeared in both papers of SET.
  • Step 2: The total slots will be allocated to different categories as per the reservation policy of the West Bengal Government.
  • Step 3: Candidates need to have appeared in both papers of WB SET exam and should have secured the minimum qualifying marks in both the papers taken together.
  • Step 4: Total number of candidates to be declared qualified in a particular subject for a particular category is derived as per the following methodology, for instance:
Number of candidates to be declared qualified in ‘English’ subject for ST category Number of candidates belonging to ST category who have qualified WB SET (*) Total slots available for ST category (÷) Total number of candidates belonging to the ST category over all subjects who have qualified WB SET

The aggregate percentage of the two papers corresponding to the number of slots arrived at determines the WB SET cut-off marks for the particular category.

Q:   I have not cleared the WB SET exam. Can I appear for the exam again?

A:

Yes you can definitely appear for the WB SET exam again If you did not clear it in the first attempt. The WB SET exam is conducted twice a year by the West Bengal College Service Commission (WBCSC) for the selection of Assistant Professor in various West Bengal Universities and Colleges. 

There is no limit on the number of attempts that you can make for the WB SET exam. However, you have to fulfill the eligibility criteria for the exam, which include having master's  degree with at least 55 per cent marks (50 per cent for reserved categories) or equivalent from the UGC recognised University.

Q:   How tough is it to crack the WB SET exam?

A:

WB SET is considered one of the most prestigious and the toughest state exams. But if you are smart enough to have a good strategy with apt study material you can easily crack it in your first attempt Paper 1 plays a very crucial part in the process of cracking the WB SET exam as it can make your merit or can lower it if not prepared well. Prepare as many previous year questions as you can. Know your syllabus for Paper 2, solve previous year questions and figure out the pattern of questions. To prepare for this exam make sure the basics of your subjects are strong, you have clarity of concepts. Make notes of the topics according to the syllabus issued. If you need guidance for your preparation You can avail yourself of facilities like sessions on paper 1 and paper 2, mock tests, previous year papers discussion, direct interaction with teachers etc. Divide your syllabus into small sections and set a weekly and monthly target for it. Include one previous paper solving per week. Make sure you complete your syllabus and be left with a little time to revise.

Q:   What is the minimum qualifying marks for the WBSET exam?

A:

The WB SET exam is conducted by the West Bengal College Service Commision (WBCSC) to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of higher secondary school teachers and non-vocational teachers. To qualify in the WB SET exam, candidates need to secure a minimum of 40 per cent aggregate marks in Paper I and Paper II, separately.

WB SET Cut Off 2024

WBCSC will release the WB SET cut off 2024 along with the names of the top 6 per cent candidates who secured the cutoff marks. The WB SET cut off is fixed by the commission based on the result preparation criteria.

Note: The subject-wise WB SET cut-off for the transgender category is the lowest among those for SC/ ST/ PWD/ OBC/ EWS categories in the corresponding subject.

WB SET is conducted to select candidates for assistant professor posts for various government colleges in West Bengal. Candidates qualified in WB SET can apply for the vacancies released by the commission. Candidates will be recruited as per their rank in the WB SET final merit list. If a candidate wants to improve his /her score in WB SET, he/ she can apply for it again. Eligible candidates can appear for WB SET as many times as she/he wants. Age is no bar for the candidates appearing for WBSET as there is no upper age limit for application
