University of Mumbai PhD & MPhil Admission Process 2023

Mumbai University admission process 2023 is done in online mode. The University mentions it clearly that no offline dissemination or submission of application forms will take place. Those seeking admission to PhD and MPhil must visit the official website and apply for the courses.

  • University of Mumbai PhD admission is based on a University-conducted PhD Admission Test (PET) for admission.
  • Candidates with a valid score in UGC-NET/SET/GATE/JRF candidates, however, are exempted from taking PET and are offered admission on the basis of these qualifying exams.
  • Mumbai University MPhil admission is based on an MPhil Entrance Test (MET) conducted by the University.

Q:   Is there an entrance exam for MA at Mumbai University?

A:

No, the university does not conduct or accept any entrance exam for MA admission. Candidates seeking admission are only required to submit the pre-enrollment form along with the application form to get admission. However, for a few MA courses, the University/ MU-affiliated college conducts a Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) after the written test. Selected candidates, who find their names in their merit lists released by the University, are required to appear for a document verification process to confirm their seat. No, direct admission is not available at Mumbai University. In order to pursue MBA from an MU-affiliated college, the selection is based on merit scores obtained by the students in one among MAT, XAT, CAT, CMAT, MAH CET, ATMA, GMAT, NMAT, SNAP, SMAT exams accepted by the various affiliated colleges of MU.

Mumbai University cutoff 2024 for the admission to MCA course is yet to be released. MCA admission to Mumbai University's affiliated colleges is based on a valid MAH MCA CET score, followed by its counselling process. Going as per the last three year cutoff trends, The closing score for Master of Computer Applications (MCA) was 73.75 in 2023, 85.38 in 2022 and 72.65 in 2021 for VIVA Institute of Technology. For Sardar Patel Institute of Technology, the cutoff scores were 99.56 for 2021, 99.77 for 2022, and 99.76 for 2023. Similarly for other colleges under Mumbai University had the unstable cutoffs over a period of three years.

Candidates willing to get admission to PhD and MPhil programme at the University of Mumbai are required to apply for the course-specific entrance exams conducted by the University online. The University does offer any offline application process. Applications for these courses usually begin in February, every year.
