JMI 2024 Eligibility Criteria for PG and PG Diploma Courses: Age Limit, Educational Qualification

As per the official 2023 brochure of Jamia Millia Islamia, the university considers the scores of Jamia Entrance Test for admission to MBA. Interested students seeking admission are required to have completed their undergraduate degree from a recognised university with at least 50% aggregate or equivalent grade. However, students who have a valid CAT score can reach out to the admission office to confirm if such special cases can be treated individually for admission to the MBA programme.

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.

Jamia conducts JMI Entrance Examfor admission to most of its undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Each year the bar is raised and the exam along with the competition only becomes tougher. To successfully clear the JMI Entrance Exam, candidates have to study hard, prepare well, know the exam pattern, marking scheme and the syllabusthoroughly. A candidate must put in plenty of time and dedication to ace the exam. A step-by-step preparation strategy for the exam is as follows:

1. Know the JMI Entrance Exam syllabus thoroughly.
2. Understand the JMI Entrance Exam pattern and marking scheme and prepare accordingly.
3. Get all the study material for Jamia Millia Islamia Entrance Exams such as prep books and previous years' question papers to help better understand what to expect in the exam.
4. Create a monthly timetable on how much material to cover daily.
5. Solve question papers, sample papers and mock tests.

JMI selection criteria includes shortlisting of candidates on the basis of scores obtained in JMI exam. For some courses candidates are required to also appear for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). The cut off for each course is released after the selection procedure is over and candidates are called for counselling and document verification. Candidates should go through the selection process mentioned in the e prospectus of JMI for their respective course.

Like all other exams, the minimum marks have been set for the candidates to qualify in the Jamia Millia Islamia entrance exam. As per the general guidelines released by the university, candidates obtaining less than 15% marks in the Objective Type/ Multiple Choice questions will not be shortlisted for interview/admission. Similarly, candidates obtaining less than 30% marks in the descriptive part of the Entrance Test, wherever applicable, will not be shortlisted for interview/ admission. As the minimum qualifying marks are fixed, the candidates should prepare themselves in such a way that they can get more than the prescribed marks in the exam and get selected for the next level.

Jamia Millia Islamia offers admission to a total of four BSc/ BSc (Hons) courses via CUET UG. As per the CUET UG website, students seeking admission to BSc at Jamia Millia must appear for and qualify CUET exam. However, since some universities are also considering other components while giving admission to CUET-UG based courses, it could be a possibility of getting into JMI without CUET.

But, this being said there is no official information on whether the university will only consider CUET UG scores or other components as well for admission, it is tough to give the right answer. Students are therefore advised to reach out to the admission office for more details.

The admission process for these programmes is conducted through an entrance test, conducted by Jamia Millia Islamia. However, for BSc in Biotechnology and BSc (Hons) in Physics, admission will be subject to a valid score in CUET exam starting 2022. Till 2021, admission was subject to the JMI entrance exam across all specialisations. However, starting from 2022, admission to BSc in Biotechnology and BSc (Hons) in Physics will be CUET-based.
