KMAT 2023: Tips and Tricks on How to Ace VARC

As mentioned above, preparation for VARC requires time, consistency and dedication. Read below to know a few tips to ace the VARC section.

Q:   How can I increase speed and accuracy to crack KMAT exam?

A:

Increasing speed and accuracy in the KMAT exam is crucial because it's a timed test that requires you to answer a significant number of questions in a limited time frame. Here are some strategies to help you improve your speed and accuracy for the KMAT exam:

  • Develop a time management strategy before the exam. Allocate a specific amount of time to each section based on the number of questions and your comfort level with the subject matter.
  • Practice is the key to improving speed and accuracy. Regularly solve practice questions, mock tests, and previous years' question papers to get used to the format and types of questions.
  • When you start a section, first answer the questions that you find easy and are confident about. This ensures that you secure those marks before spending more time on challenging questions.
  • If you encounter a difficult question, don't spend too much time on it initially. Mark it for review and move on to the next question. Come back to the difficult ones if you have time left at the end.
  • While speed is important, accuracy should not be compromised. It's better to answer fewer questions correctly than to answer more questions with errors. Avoid rushing through questions at the cost of accuracy.
  • Keep an eye on the time during the exam. Wear a watch to help you monitor your progress and ensure you are on track.

Q:   Is KMAT Karnataka exam tough?

A:

The KMAT exam is a remote proctored test with a difficultly level that falls somewhere in the middle of the easiest and the toughest exams. It assesses the candidate's abilities in three fundamental domains, namely Reasoning, the English language, and Mathematics. The syllabus for KMAT Karnataka covers a range of topics in each section. Candidates are tested on their proficiency in areas like arithmetic, algebra, geometry, reading comprehension, vocabulary, logical reasoning, and general awareness. KMAT Karnataka is known to have questions of varying difficulty levels. Some questions may be straightforward, while others may require deeper analytical thinking. This adaptive difficulty aims to challenge candidates at different proficiency levels.

Remember that what one person finds difficult, another might find relatively easy, and vice versa. It's essential to assess your own strengths and weaknesses and tailor your preparation accordingly. Additionally, consistent and dedicated practice can significantly boost your confidence and performance in the KMAT Karnataka exam.

Q:   What is the key to scoring well in the VARC section of KMAT?

A:

Scoring well in the VARC (Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension) section of the KMAT (Karnataka Management Aptitude Test) requires a combination of strong reading and language skills. To score well in the VARC section of the KMAT exam keep the following things in mind:

  • Develop a reading habit by reading newspapers, magazines, novels, and online articles. This will help you become comfortable with diverse writing styles and topics.
  • While reading, pay attention to the main idea, supporting details, and the author's tone and purpose. Practice summarizing what you've read to improve your comprehension skills.
  • Work on increasing your reading speed without compromising comprehension. Gradually challenge yourself to read faster.
  • Dedicate time to expand your vocabulary. Use flashcards, vocabulary apps, or simply read vocabulary-rich texts.
  • Revise key grammar rules, including sentence structure, verb tense, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation.
  • If you are unsure about the correct answer to a question, use the process of elimination. Rule out the options that are clearly incorrect to increase your chances of selecting the right answer.
  • Solve a variety of reading comprehension passages from different sources. Try to cover various topics and writing styles.
  • Reflect on your mistakes and learn from them. Understand why you got certain questions wrong and avoid making the same errors in the future.
  • Consistent and regular practice is key to improving your VARC skills. Dedicate time each day to VARC exercises and reading.
