Students’ Speak: Placement eligibility for SIMSREE
When it comes to placements and being recruited by a company, there is an eligibility criteria. However, this is not true for Sydenham Institute of Management Studies, Research and Entrepreneurship Education (SIMSREE). There is no eligibility criteria for the placement or internship at our institute.
Every student at SIMSREE is eligible for the college placement season for that year based on their choice of specialisation. In SIMREE, there are five core specialisations including Finance, Marketing, HR, Operations and System.
While attendance of 75 percent in each subject is compulsory at SIMSREE, it does not affect the placement directly. However, if you fail to maintain that, it can affect your internals and all. If you mistakenly get failed in any subject then it can affect your placement process. All the time, eligibility criteria is decided by the companies and no one knows what is that based on.
Some companies do shortlisting on the basis of your marks and performances in the college. Course duration of Masters in Management Studies (MMS) and Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) in our college is two years. In the first year, you are eligible for an internship and in the second, you become eligible for executive placement. From the college, you don’t need any specific criteria or eligibility to sit for the placement and companies. It is the company that decides your eligibility. Sometimes, companies make all the students eligible and then they take elimination rounds such as aptitude test and group discussions.
Several companies mostly keep the criteria of 60 percent throughout classes 10th, 12th and graduation. Some companies keep the criteria of experience as well while some only look for freshers. It totally depends on the company as to what they want for which profile/position.
Sometimes, companies shortlist directly based on a candidate's previous marks, extra-curricular activities, any management work, internship work and skills. If you are getting the opportunity then pick it and make the most out of it. All the big companies have their own tests and criteria.
