Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai conducts TISSNET exam for admission to its various PG programmes. Candidates who will secure the minimum qualifying cut off, will have to appear for the Online Assessments (OA) which will be held tentatively from second week of April 2024 to first week of May 2024. TISSNET 2024 first merit list will be released soon after the selection process rounds are over. Candidates will be able to check their results on the official website- admissions.tiss.edu. In this article, we will explain TISS selection criteria and admission process of all campuses. Before that, let’s have a quick look at the schedule of TISS admissions post-TISSNET 2024 result declaration.

TISS Selection Criteria and Admission Process 2024

There are two main stages of TISS admission process. Here we have explained every step in detail:

Stage 1: TISSNET exam

Stage 2: Online Assessments (OA)

Stage 1: TISSNET Exam

TISS National Entrance Test is conducted for all the Master's programmes across the campus. TISSNET 2024 is a 100 minutes (1 hour 40 minutes) test that consisted of total of 100 objective type questions. TISSNET exam is conducted for shortlisting candidates for stage 2 of the TISSNET selection procedure. Hence, TISSNET exam is a shortlisting process with no reservation rule. The reservation rule will be applied at the time of the final seat allotment. Check the table below to know the TISSNET 2024 exam pattern:

Stage 2: Assessing the suitability of the candidate

This stage assesses the candidate's ability for the programme he/she has applied for. Candidates qualifying for the TISSNET 2024 exam will have to appear for the Online Assessment. Candidates will be updated regarding any change in the final score. On the basis of the previous year's selection criteria, candidates can know the criteria for final selection. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for the following rounds:

a. Extempore reflection on a given topic

In this round panel members will be given a relevant topics to the programme of study and the candidates will be required to present the reflection on the same for 2-3 minutes. In case, candidates are not comfortable with the given topic they will have the option to ask for the second topic. There will be no third choice. 

b. Online Personal Interview (OPI) 

In this round, the three-panel members will interact with the candidate to understand his/her motivation, preparedness and interest along with the basic subject knowledge. With the help of OPI candidates' understanding of social and economic factors will be explored. 

Note: Candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in TISSNET 2024. Candidates’ selection would also depend on the number of seats per course, the number of applicants along with the score of the candidate. Notably, the score of TISSNET would only be used to shortlist the candidates, it will not be used for evaluation for arriving at the final score. On the contrary, the TISSMAT score will be added with the PIT and PI score for final selection.

Merit List Announcement

Post the PI round, the institute announces a list of candidates selected for admission. TISS will release the list of candidates who have been finally selected for admissions for academic session 2024-25, along with their final scorecard. Selected candidates will be able to download their scorecards indicating the score received in each of the components (TISSNET, Extempore and PI).

Q. What is selection process of TISS?

Ans.TISS selection process consists of Entrance exam and Online Assessment rounds. To appear for the TISS admission process candidates must appear and qualify the TISSNET exam. Based on the scores obtained in TISSNET exam candidates are called for Online Assessment rounds- Extempore and Online Interview.

Q. What is the admission process for TISSNET MBA?

Ans. TISS offeres MA in HRM which is equivalent ot MBA programme of other top B-schools. To appear for the TISSNET MBA selection process candidates must appear for the TISSNET exam and Online Assessment rounds that is conducted for the shortlisted candidates only.

Q. What is the dress code for TISS interview process?

Ans. There is no specific dress code for TISS interview process. Shortlisted candidates are advised to dress appropriately as they would be attending any physical interview. 

Q. How many times is TISSNET exam conducted in a year?

Ans. TISSNET exam is conducted once in a year. Candidates seeking admission to TISS campuses PG programmes must stay updated with the TISSNET exam dates. This year TISSNET exam was conducted on February 25, 2023 in offline mode. 

Q. Can I get direct admission in TISS?

Ans. To get admission to TISS campuses candidates must appear for the entrance exam conducted for various PG programmes. TISS National Entrance Test is conducted once in a year. Based on which candidates are shortlisted for the TISS selection process rounds.

Ans. Panel members will give a topic, on which the candidate will have to give the reflection for about two to three minutes. Candidates will have the option of asking for another topic if the former topic is not preferable. There will be no third choice.
