Q&A Icon
Commonly asked questions

Q:   Can I request to change my NEET exam city after receiving the NEET city slip?

A:

No, once the NEET city slip is issued by NTA, it is not permitted to request for change in the exam city. NTA tries to allot the NEET exam city based on candidates' first preference. However, there may be situations where it is not possible to allot the preferred city. Hence, candidates have to make the necessary travel or accommodation arrangements accordingly, instead of approaching NTA to change the exam city.

Q:   What is the difference between the NEET city allotment slip and NEET admit card?

A:

The NEET city allotment slip is not the same as the NEET admit card. While the NEET city intimation slip only informs candidates about the exam city and the state, the NEET admit card mentions the exact name and address of the NEET exam centre allotted to candidates. Apart from this, the admit card of NEET also carries the exam day instructions and guidelines, and the Self Declaration Undertaking which must be filled and signed by candidates. The NEET admit card also carries fields for parents', candidates' and invigilators' signatures. While parents' signatures have to be made on the document in advance, candidates and invigilators have to sign during the exam. Last but not the least, the NEET admit card is the mandatory document to be carried to the exam centre, without which candidates will not be allowed to appear for the exam. On the other hand, it is not mandatory to carry the NEET city allotment slip to the exam centre or for further events such as counselling or institute reporting.

Q:   When does NTA release the NEET advance intimation to exam city slip?

A:

NTA will release the NEET advance intimation to exam city slip by April 26, 2025. The document has to be downloaded online by logging in to the exam website with the registration credentials. The advance intimation to exam city slip carries the name of the city where candidates' NEET exam centre will be located. The actual exam centre address will be provided on the NEET admit card, which will be released on or before May 1, 2025.

How to Choose the Exam Centre for NEET 2025?

Candidates will have to select the exam centre while filling the NEET application form 2025. Out of the total number of exam cities, they have to select three exam cities in decreasing order of their preference and priority. Till 2022, candidates could select four cities, and in 2023 and 2024, the number of NEET exam city choices was limited to two. The list of cities appearing in the drop-down menu will be limited based on the present and permanent address provided during the NEET 2025 registration process. Selecting the feasible NEET exam centre 2025 is crucial to avoid any delay in reaching the centre. While selecting the exam centre city, candidates should consider the distance, availability of modes of transport and last but not least, familiarity with the route to the centre.

Hence, candidates should choose the exam city which is closest to their residence. Travelling on the day of the examination can be a hectic task and may cause panic/anxiety deterring the performance. NTA designates the NEET exam centre based on preferences filled by the candidates according to the availability of seats at the corresponding exam centre. The exam centres of NEET 2025 will be allotted keeping in mind the preferences chosen by the candidate such as the language and the centre date so that candidates can have assistance in their regional language. According to the NTA policies and guidelines, the centre allotted to the candidates can not be changed thereafter.

Q&A Icon
Commonly asked questions

Q:   I live in Noida. Can I choose Jaipur as the NEET exam city preference?

A:

The choice of exam city is limited to your permanent and present address. If you have mentioned Jaipur, Rajasthan as your permanent or present address, then you can choose Jaipur as an exam city, otherwise it would not appear in the drop-down menu. Similarly, once you enter your present address as Noida, the exam city options for the NEET 2024 exam centre will be limited to Delhi and Uttar Pradesh only. If your present address in Noida but permanent address is in Jaipur, then you may have the option to select Jaipur as the exam city. Hence, candidates must be careful while filling the application form and entering their address.

Thumbs Up IconUpvote Thumbs Down Icon

Q:   How many city preference candidates can submit while selecting the NTA NEET exam centre?

A:

Candidates will be allowed to enter three cities in the order of their preference. Till last year, candidates could select two cities only. Earlier, till 2022, candidates could enter as many as four cities. The list of exam cities in the dropdown menu will be based on the permanent and present address entered by candidates in the registration form of NEET. This would ensure that candidates are allotted a city in or near their present and permanent address. This also led to reduction in choosing other cities mistakenly.

Q:   I want to choose Marathi as the medium for NEET Question Paper. Can I choose Delhi as my NEET exam centre?

A:

No, NTA has notified language-wise exam city demarcation. Regional languages are restricted by geographical boundaries. Hence, if you want to choose Marathi as the medium of examination, you will have to choose a NEET test centre in Maharashtra or other Marathi speaking states such as Goa or Gujarat. Another situation where you can select the NEET exam city in Delhi while opting for NEET Marathi question paper is to give a Delhi address as your permanent or present address. Candidates choosing Delhi as a NEET exam centre can choose English Hindi Punjabi and Urdu question paper mediums.

Q:   I want to select English as the language of my NEET question paper. Which city should I choose?

A:

You can choose any exam centre of NEET 2025. English is available at centres across the country. English is a universal language and medium of NEET question paper. Q:   Is it possible to get an NTA NEET exam centre that I did not choose?

A:
Yes, it is possible in exceptional situations. NTA reserves the right to allocate a NEET exam centre in a city other than the ones specified by you. Centre allocations are subjected to the availability of seats at the chosen centre. However, the chances are low since this year onwards NTA has allowed only two exam city selection. Also, the exam authorities endeavour to allot NEET exam centre in the preferred city, if not, then it will be allotted to the second preferred city for candidates' convenience.

Q:   Can I change the NEET exam centre after the release of admit card?

A:

No, you are not permitted to change the NEET centre after the release of admit card. Moreover, since the admit card is released around a week prior to the exam date, there is less scope of getting the centre changed. In case of an emergency, candidates are advised to contact NTA to change the exam city or centre. Since NTA will allot the exam centre in either of the preferred cities, test-takers should not have any difficulty in getting the exam city or centre of their preference.

Q:   Will candidates be provided with face masks at the NEET exam centres?

A:
Till last year, candidates were provided N95 masks at the NEET exam centre which was mandatory to be used by candidates. They had to dispose of their own masks before entering the exam centre at the designated bin. However, since the intensity of Covid has reduced as compared to the last two years, this year candidates may not be provided masks at the centre. The information will be confirmed after the release of the NEET admit card. However, it is recommended that they wear face masks for the entire duration. This should be done to ensure their and other test-takers' safety.
