CTET Child Development and Pedagogy Preparation Tips 2024

CTET CDP Preparation 2024: The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2024 exam will be conducted on December 14, 2024, by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The CTET 2024 is an eligibility exam conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for Classes 1 to 8 teachers. The CTET exam comprises two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. The CTET Paper 1 is for Classes 1-5 teachers and Paper 2 is for Classes 6-8 teachers. Both papers comprise 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) each.

Q:   What are the subjects in CTET syllabus?

A:
CTET exam comprises five subjects in Paper 1 and four subjects in Paper 2. CTET Paper 1 subjects are Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language-II, Mathematics and Environmental Studies. CTET Paper 2 subjects are Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language-II, Mathematics and Science/ Social Studies or Social Sciences.

Q:   What is the syllabus for Paper 1 CTET?

A:

The CTET Paper-1 is for teaching posts in classes 1 to 5 in government and private schools. The syllabus for CTET Paper 1 consists of five sections. There are 30 questions, each worth one mark, in each section.

These sections are:

  1. Child Development and Pedagogy: The topics are child development, learning, and pedagogy.
  2. Language I and Language II sections: These two sections consist of questions about the pedagogy of language development.
  3. Mathematics: This section includes basic math such as geometry, the solids around us, shapes, spatial understanding, the Number System addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  4. Environmental Science: The basic questions on water, food, shelter, travel, etc. Are asked in this section.

Q:   Who prescribes the CTET syllabus?

A:
The Central Board of Secondary Education prescribes the CTET syllabus. The CTET syllabus has been fixed as per the guidelines given by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). CTET stands for Central Teacher Eligibility Test, an eligibility test conducted by the CBSE every year to determine the eligibility of Classes 1 to 8 teachers.

Child Development and Pedagogy is one of the common sections in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Q:   Does the CTET syllabus change every year?

A:
No, the CTET syllabus remains the same every year, unless the CBSE officially announced any change. CTET is a national-level eligibility exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The CTET exam is held every year to determine candidates' eligibility for appointment as teachers in Central Government Schools such as KVS, NVS, and others.

Q:   Is the CTET syllabus available in offline mode?

A:
No, you can access the CTET syllabus in online mode only on the official website of the exam. CTET notification contains the latest exam pattern and syllabus. The CTET exam pattern lays down the structure of both papers, including the number of questions asked in the exam, the marking scheme, and the names of the subjects. The CTET syllabus contains the topics from which questions are asked in the exam.
