Q:   What if I get compartment, then will I be able to appear for the CUET and get admission in college?

A:

Yes, it is possible to appear for compartment exams and still appear for CUET and secure college admission within the same academic year.

Educational boards conduct compartment exams for students who performed poorly in one or two subjects during their board exams. These compartment exams are typically held a few months after the regular board exams and offer students an opportunity to reattempt any subjects they failed, thereby improving their overall pass percentage.

In situations where a student does not meet the admission requirements for college due to failing one or more subjects in their board exams, they can opt to take compartment exams with the aim of enhancing their grades. Once the results of the compartment exams are published, students can utilize their improved scores to fulfill the CUET college admission criteria.

It's essential to keep in mind that the admission procedures for each college and university can differ, and some institutions may have specific additional requirements or application deadlines for students intending to take compartment exams. Therefore, it is advisable to inquire about the admission policies regarding compartment exams at the respective college or university.

CUCET 2022: List of participating colleges

CUCET was supposed to be conducted last year, however, it was not implemented in all the Universities due to the Pandemic. The CUET Participating Universities 2022 that will be offering admissions based on the CUCET 2022 are Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Jamia Milia Islamia, Aligarh Muslim University, Visva Bharati University, Central University of Tamil Nadu, University of Hyderabad, Central University of Kerala, North Eastern Hill University, Central University of Punjab, among others.

CUET 2022: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the eligibility criteria set by the Central Universities in order to apply and appear for CUET 2022. The eligibility parameters are as follows:

  • Students will need to have passed Class 12 from a recognised board in Science stream to take admission in bachelor’s degree programmes in the Central Universities.
  • For the General category, the candidate needs to secure a minimum of 50 per cent in Class 12, for SC/ST, candidates need to have secured a minimum of 45 per cent in Class 12 in order to be eligible for the CUCET 2022. For BTech programmes, the minimum aggregate for the General category candidates is 45 per cent and that of the reserved category candidates is 40 per cent.

CUET 2022 Scores vs Board Exam Results

UGC Chairman while speaking on the CUET 2022 scores clarified that from now on, only the CUCET scores will be taken into consideration by the Central Universities. This is a major relief to many students, as now, the board exam results or Class 12 results will not be the sole criteria for admissions to Central Universities.

While the CUET 2022 scores will be important, the varsities will be able to set minimum eligibility criteria based on board exam results. This means that students scoring a certain threshold of marks may or may not be allowed to appear for CUCET 2022. However, an official confirmation on this is still awaited.

The NTA will conduct CUCET 2022 for admissions to both UG and PG programmes, offered by all Central Universities, to streamline the admission process and remove the cut-off criteria. Currently, 45 Central Universities are funded by the UGC.
