IIT JAM 2025 exam centre cities released by IIT Delhi, exam officials on their official website. JAM 2025 exam centres provide options for the test takers where they can choose their preferred nearest cities to the correspondence address for IIT JAM 2025 examination.
IIT JAM 2025 exam schedule has also been released by the exam officials. The exam will be held on February 2, 2025, at 115 JAM 2025 centres across the nation. The official website informs that there could be one or more IIT JAM exam centres in one city. While filling out the JAM 2025 application form, candidates need to select three preferences as the JAM 2025 exam centres. Candidates are requested to choose the nearby examination cities so that at the examination time they do not need to travel far distances. However, it may be noted that the first two exam cities should be from the same zone.
The exact centres for IIT JAM exam details will be mentioned on the JAM admit cards of candidates. In the past, two cities were added to the list of IIT JAM exam centres, which were Haldwani (Uttarakhand) and Port Blair (Andaman & Nicobar).

Q: How to select IIT JAM exam city?
Candidates will have to select the IIT JAM exam centre city while filling out the application form. They will have to enter as many as two exam cities in preferential order. NTA will try to allot the exam centre according to candidates preferences. However, the final decision will be made by the exam authorities.
Candidates has to follow the steps given below to select the exam city of JAM 2025:
1. Visit the JAM 2025 website.
2. In the Exam City Preference section of the JAM 2024 application form, select three cities in preferential order.
3. Complete the application process by paying the requisite application fee. The exam city preference can be changed during the application correction window.
Q: What is the mode of the IIT JAM exam?
The IIT JAM exam is conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode. This means that the exam is taken on a computer, and the questions and answers are displayed on the screen. Candidates use a mouse or keyboard to select their answers.
The JAM exam will be held in 2 sessions throughout the day, and candidates are assigned to a specific session during registration. The exam is two hours long and consists of 60 questions of multiple-choice, multiple select and numaerical answer type questions.

Q: What is the duration of IIT JAM 2025 examination?
IIT JAM 2025 examination is scheduled to be held on February 2, 2025 across the various JAM 2025 exam centres. The exam will be conducted in two sessions:
- Session 1: 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
- Session 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM
Candidates will have to attempt all three sections of the exam in the allotted time. A candidate can appear in either ONE or TWO Test Paper (s). However, a candidate can appear in two Test Papers only if they are not scheduled in the same session
Q: What type of questions Section A of IIT JAM exam has?
JAM 2025 Examination for all the Test Papers will be conducted as a Computer Based Test (CBT) where the candidates will be shown the questions in a random sequence on a computer screen.
Section - A contains a total of 30 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) involving 10 questions of one mark each and 20 questions of two marks each. Each MCQ has four choices out of which only one choice is the correct answer. Candidates can mark their answer by clicking one of the choices. A wrong answer will result in negative marks. For each wrong answer to 1 mark
questions, 1/3 mark will be deducted and similarly for each wrong answer to 2 marks questions, 2/3 mark will be deducted.
Q: When will IIT JAM 2025 admit cards releasing?
IIT JAM Admit Card 2025 will be released in the first week of January, 2025, tentatively. Candidates who have successfully filled out and submitted the IIT JAM 2025 application form can download the JAM 2025 admit card by visiting the IIT JAM official website.
IIT JAM 2025 admit card will be available in online mode on the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) portal. Candidates who had filled out the IIT JAM 2025 Application Form can download the IIT JAM 2025 Admit Card by using their enrolment ID or email ID and password on the portal to see their respective exam centres.

IIT JAM 2025 Shift Timings
IIT Delhi will conduct the IIT JAM 2025 exam across eight zones on February 2, 2025, in two shifts for seven MSc programmes offered by IITSs and other JAM 2025 result-sharing institutes. The first/morning slot of the exam will get over at 12:30 PM and the second/afternoon slot will begin at 2:30 PM and will conclude at 5:30 PM.

Permissible Items at IIT JAM 2025 Exam Centres
The following items will be allowed to be carried inside the IIT JAM 2025 exam centres:
- IIT JAM 2025 admit card
- Valid photo identity card
- Few copies of passport-size photographs
- Transparent water bottle
- 50 ml sanitiser bottle
- Fruits or medicines (only for diabetic candidates)
It is important to note that the list of permissible items may change from year to year. Candidates are advised to check the official IIT JAM website for the latest updates on the permissible items. On the day of the exam, candidates should arrive at the exam centre at least 30 minutes early. This will give them enough time to check in and go through the security procedures.
Non-permissible Items at IIT JAM 2025 Exam Centre
The following items or objects will not be allowed to be carried to the IIT JAM 2025 exam centres.
- Stationery items such as test-based material (written/printed), papers, notes, Pencil box, pouches, geometry box, pen, scale/ruler, eraser, etc.
- Electronic devices such as calculators, cameras, electronic pens, scanners, etc.
- Accessories such as bags, belts, caps, goggles, wallets, etc.
- Devices used for communication such as mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth, fitness bands, earphones, pager, etc.
- Eatables (packed or home-cooked), thermos, etc.
Candidates are also not allowed to carry any food or drinks inside the exam center, with the exception of a transparent water bottle and 50 ml sanitizer bottle.
If a candidate is found carrying any of the non-permissible items, they will be disqualified from the exam.
It is important to note that the list of non-permissible items may change from year to year. Candidates are advised to check the official IIT JAM website for the latest updates on the non-permissible items.
