UPCATET 2024 exam pattern for BSc and BTech courses is released in official notification. According to the exam pattern of UPCATET, the question paper carries 200 multiple-choice questions. A total of 800 marks will be allotted for these questions. The time duration to complete this exam is three hours. The question paper will be in both English and Hindi languages.

For Postgraduate courses (MBA), the duration of the exam will be two hours. There will be 100 questions in the exam and the total marks allotted to it will be 400 marks

This year UPCATET exam pattern 2024 has been changed, earlier the exam for UG & PG used to be conducted for 300 marks but from this year onwards exam will be conducted for 400 marks. Now the marking scheme has also been changed, now for each correct answer 4 marks will be awarded and for each wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted

There are four groups of papers for which the UPCATET exam will be conducted which are PCB, PCM, PAG, and PHS. Candidates who qualify for the exam in any of these groups will be entitled to admission to a similar course. 

Marking scheme: Three marks will be awarded for each correct answer and one mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

Q:   What is marking scheme of UPCATET exam?

A:

The marking scheme of UPCATET exam is as follows:
- The UPCATET exam consists of multiple-choice questions, where each question carries 4 marks.
- The UPCATET exam has a total of 200 questions, and the maximum marks that can be scored are 800.
- To qualify the UPCATET exam, applicants need to score passing marks. 
The total duration alloted to this UPCATET exam will be 3 hours

While filling the online application form of UPCATET, applicants are given 4 options to choose, which paper they want to appear for the exam. Their paper will be of same combination which they have filled in their application form.

Q:   What are the options of the questions paper in UPCATET exam?

A:

Applicants while filling their application form will be given four choice, PCB, PCM, PAG, and PHS. Students will have to choose any of this choice in the form as per their education qualification. They will be given paper of their choice in the UPCATET exam. There will be no change in the examination hall for any paper under any cicrumstances hence applicants must choose carefully while filling the form. 

Candidates will be given admission to the similar course for which they have appeared in the exam. There will be 200 questions in exam out of them 20 questions will be from General Knowledge topic and rest 180 will be from the group for which they have applied.

Q:   Is there different exam pattern for UG and PG programme?

A:

Yes there will be different exam pattern of UG and PG courses in UPCATET exam. The UG courses i.e BSc & BTech and Post graduate courses i.e MBA, MSc have different pattern. The number of courses for UG is 200 while for PG it is 100. The total marks allotted for UG courses is 600, while for PG it is 300. 

Though each question from UG and PG weigh same 3 marks only

Time duration for both UG and PG is also different, UG is of 3 hours and PG is of 2 hours.

The examination pattern for MBA course is different than other PG courses. 

According to the Marking scheme, for all the courses UG, PG & PhD 4 marks will be given for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. 

No marks will be deducted/ awarded for the questions un answered. 

Q:   Is there minimum qualifying cutoff marks for UPCATET exam?

A:

 Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut has released the minimum qualifying cutoff marks for UPCATET exam. The candidates from General & OBC categroy need to secure minimum 10% passing marks while applicants from SC and ST need to secure a minimum of 5% passing marks.

Q:   Is there a different marking scheme for UG, PG & PhD courses in UPCATET?

A:

Applicants who will appear in UPCATET exam should note that marking scheme is same for all the programmes i.e UG, PG & PhD. 

For each right answer 3 marks will be awarded & for each in correct answer 1 mark will be deducted. 

Though marking scheme remains same but exam pattern is different than other. For all UG & PG courses the number of questions are 200 and total marks allotted to it are 600 while total number of questions for MBA course is 100 & total marks allotted to it are 300 only.

Q:   Is there negative marking in UPCATET exam?

A:

Yes, there is a negative marking scheme in the UPCATET exam. For each correct answer applicants will be given 4 marks. For each incorrect answer, 1/4th of the total marks or 1 mark will be deducted. 

The calculation of the score for the respective programmes will be taken into consideration by taking into account all correct & incorrect answers. After preparing the list of all candidates the authorities will prepare the list of successful applicants based on the availability of seats

General Studies has 20 questions and total marks allotted for this section is 60

Physics and Chemistry each has 50 questions and marks allotted for this section is 150 each. 

There are a total of 80 questions from Mathematics section and marks allotted for this section is 240

The total marks allotted for this whole PCM Group paper of UPCATET is 600 marks

25 questions are asked from Agriculture Physics, Agriculture Chemistry, Agriculture Botany, Agriculture Zoology, Agronomy subjects each.

20 questions are asked from General Studies & Agriculture Statistics & Mathematics subject each.

15 questions are asked from Horticulture subjects.    

10 questions are asked from Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Agriculture Engineering.

UPCATET Syllabus for BSc and BTech Courses

UPCATET 2023 syllabus is not out yet. However, the official website informs that the UPCATET syllabus for BSc and BTech course admissions are the same as prescribed by the UP Board for Class 12 exams in the concerned subject.

Q:   What is the pattern of PHS Group in UPCATET exam?

A:

There will be 200 questions asked in exam and maximum marks allotted to it will be 600

80 Questions are asked from Home Science subjects and maxium marks dedicated for this section is 240

25-25 Questions are asked from English & Hindi section and maxium marks for this is 75 each.  

20-20 Questions are asked from General Studies & Sociology section and maximum marks allotted for each is 60

15-15 Questions are asked from Geography and Economics and maximum marks for this section is 45

No, there is seperate entrance exam for all PG courses except MBA programme. 

There will be 200 questions for which 600 marks will be allotted in PG exams. The time duration for it will be 3 hours while for MBA the exam will be held for 100 questions and 300 marks will be allotted to it. This exam will be conducted for 2 hours.

The exam conducting authority has clearly mentioned in the official broucher that "Open & Distance Education" will be considered for educational qualification eligibility criteria of UPCATET. 

Applicants who have completed their education as full time course will be eligible to fill the form and apply online. Only those students are required to fill the application form who fulfill the eligibility criteria prescribed by the authorities.
