BHU Highlights 2024
Formerly known as Central Hindu College, Banaras Hindu University (popularly known as BHU Varanasi) is a central university recognised by the UGC and accredited with an ‘A' Grade by the NAAC. It is also a member of the AIU. BHU is ranked 4 and 5 in the ‘Agriculture and Allied Sectors’ and ‘Universities’ categories by the NIRF Rankings 2024. The university is also ranked 1001-1200 in the 'University' categories by the QS World University Ranking 2025. Banaras Hindu University has signed MoUs with over 40 national and foreign universities to offer better exposure to the students and faculty members.

History of Banaras Hindu University (BHU):
- BHU has often been referred to by different names throughout the history and present. Some of the English names include Banaras University, Benares Hindu University, and Hindu University.
- Banaras Hindu University was founded by Indian Home Rule-leaguer and Theosophist, Annie Besant in 1898.
- After Besant, the university was established by Madan Mohan Malaviya. With over 30,000 students, and 18,000 residing on campus.
- To promote the university's expansion, Malviya invited eminent guest speakers such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jagadish Chandra Bose, C V Raman, and Besant to deliver a series of lectures between 5-8 February 1916.
- Kashi Naresh provided the land for BHU, approx 1,300 acres.

BHU cutoff 2024, round 3 has been released for admission to courses such as Bachelor of Law, Master of Science, and Master of Technology, among others.
