Established in 1964, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University (BVDU) is a private university which is recognised by the Government of India. Bharati Vidyapeeth University Pune is accredited with an 'A+' Grade by NAAC. All the programmes offered at Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University are approved by the UGC and respective statutory councils. BVDU is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). Bharati Vidyapeeth History

Some of the historical facts of the Bharati Vidyapeeth are given below:

1963: Dr. Patangrao Kadam became deeply concerned about most of the Maharashtrian students who couldn’t score well in national entrance exams for the National Defence Academy and other competitive exams
1964: The university came into existence in the old part of Pune city.
1996: On the recommendation of the UGC, the Government of India granted the status of "Deemed to be University" to a group of 12 colleges of Bharati Vidyapeeth. This was done to recognise the academic excellence of the university
26th April 1996: A red-letter day for the BVP Pune family and its founder Dr. Patangrao Kadam
2005: The Government of India brought the seven colleges of Bharati Vidyapeeth located in various cities within the purview of Bhartiya Vidya Peeth as its constituent colleges

Today Bharati Vidyapeeth Punea is a multi-campus deemed university.
