Effectiveness of the Placement Cell for MCA Programs at CUSAT

Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, here's an overview of the effectiveness of the placement cell for MCA programs at CUSAT:

    * Organized Process: The placement cell is well-organized, providing information about interviews and conducting classes to prepare students for placements.

    * Company Visits: Many companies visit the campus for recruitment, offering opportunities for students to participate in interviews.

    * Off-Campus Interviews: The placement cell also informs students about off-campus interview opportunities, making it easier for them to find jobs.

    * Placement Statistics: According to the reviews, around 80% of MCA students get placed, with some students securing packages up to INR12 Lacs per annum (average being INR4.2 lakhs).

    * Top Recruiters: Reputable companies like IBM, TCS, Cisco, and others visit the campus, indicating a strong reputation for the placement cell.

While the placement cell seems effective in terms of organisation and company visits, it's essential to note that individual experiences may vary depending on factors such as academic performance, skills, and personal connections.

It is one of the best colleges for MCA.
Placements: About 75%-80% of placements are offered every year across the country and abroad. Students get the opportunity to work in good job positions. They can also secure placements in IT companies and banks. Department-wise placement training has been provided since last year, which is very helpful for students in securing jobs.
Infrastructure: Overall infrastructure of the college is poor and requires improvement. Classrooms are spacious, but cleanliness needs attention as there is dust present. College is situated in a hilly area with pleasant weather, but it lacks proper connectivity to city life. Wi-Fi and LAN internet facilities are provided for students.
Faculty: All faculty members are well-qualified. Classes are conducted with the help of presentations and project is completed every semester. Syllabus is well-updated and highly advanced. Especially, teaching faculty members are supportive in enhancing students knowledge at both theoretical and application levels. Pass rate is 80%.

Outstanding College: Excellent faculty and campus.
Placements: Our university placement is very nice. Approximately 92% of placements are predominantly offered annually around the country and abroad. The maximum salary is 22 LPA, the minimum salary is 9 LPA, and the average salary is 13.5 LPA. Students have the opportunity to work in a positive work environment. Placements can be offered in IT companies, Amazon, Google, HCL, etc., as well as banks. Since last year, higher education apprenticeships have been booming, significantly improving employment opportunities for students.
Infrastructure: The facilities are excellent. Well-maintained classrooms and labs. Always free Wi-Fi is available on our campus. The hostel rooms are clean and well-maintained. The food here is also good and satisfying compared to other colleges. The campus offers complete security, as well as hostels. Hostels are based on classification. Sports and medical facilities are available at our university.
Faculty: In my personal opinion, teachers are actually good; they have enough knowledge, except for some of them. The curriculum is also set according to current industry needs, but elsewhere it is stuck a bit in the past. In engineering, there are 2 internal exams, 1 practical exam, and one ED exam for the semester. Core subject tests are a bit more difficult. But, the passing rate is 79%.

College with bliss of nature. Satisfied with faculty, placements.Infrastructure needs to be improved
Placements: College has nice placement options. Students are doing internships both online and offline. Teachers are providing good support for projects. Senior students got placed in various companies with salary packages of 15 LPA, 11 LPA, and all. The highest package of this year was 15 LPA. Many among them got placed with 4 LPA.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of the college is not that good. As this is a rural campus of CUSAT, it does not meet the expectations. The library is good. It is easier for MCA students to access the library facility as it is just near the classroom. The canteen is fine, not that great. The sports facility is average.
Faculty: Teaching quality is good. They are all reputed ones with years of experience. Semester exams are going in a very systematic and transparent manner. The pass percentage is above 98%. Teachers do support students whenever required. Evaluation and result publication is in a very speedy way.
Other: The course is having good placement options. Moreover, CUSAT is a very reputed university. It is having high ranking globally. Students from various parts of the world reach here for academics. Infrastructure needs to be improved. Extracurricular activities and events should be enhanced a little bit more.

    Think placement, think CUSAT.
Placements: College placement is attractive, but the package is less; the average package is 3.5 to 5 LPA. Mass recruiters like TCS, Infosys, and HCL also come for campus drives. The top company is Google, but it was off-campus; one student got an internship at Google via off-campus drive. The college does not give any internships, but during the privileged year, cognizant offers internships to many students with a 10,000Rs stipend, and all get the opportunity to work on projects.
Infrastructure: The college campus is located on a hilly area in the monsoon, and during the during the winter session, the atmosphere was amazing. There are a lot of animals in the college area. There is no proper range for internet and calling services. Public transport facilitates very bad timing; buses are not available. Canteen food is very overrated. Colleges have women and men hostels. Facilities are also good, including base facilities, cleaning, toilets, and good food.
Faculty: Teachers are teaching just for the exam; they just told us this is an important topic that will come up in the exam but not teach us the full concept. Teaching quality is average; teachers sometimes discourage us from doing sports and art. The college curriculum is semester-based. Every year, we have 2 semesters, and the exams are final and internal. The course is for 100 marks, of which 70 are for term-end exams and 30 are for internal exams. Internal exams included class tests, midterms, and some marks given based on behaviour.

Like heaven amidst the hills of Cochin.
Placements: All final year students can attend campus interviews. The college provides good placement opportunities for MCA and CS students. Big companies like IBM, TCS, Cisco, and many others visit the campus. The highest package offered is 12 LPA, and the average is 4.2 LPA. 80% of students get placed, mostly in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune cities. Keltron hires interns with zero stipend.
Infrastructure: The overall infrastructure of the college is of poor quality and needs improvement. Classrooms are spacious, but cleanliness needs improvement as there is dust in the classrooms. The college is located in a hilly area with good weather but lacks exposure to city life. Wi-Fi and LAN internet cables are provided for students. Regarding the hostel, the college doesn't have its own building; instead, they rent houses from outside and allocate them to students.
Faculty: Teachers are easily approachable, and there is a friendly relationship between faculty and students. The course curriculum is quite burdensome with extensive syllabus, and the time between exams is very short. However, the IT sector is growing in India, creating many job opportunities, so the course is in high demand. Exams follow the 80-20 pattern set by the University.
Other: Toilets are not clean, and the town is many kilometers away from the college, creating a lot of inconvenience.

Review of Cochin University of Science and Technology.
Placements: Our college provided good placement opportunities. Top recruiters visited our college to recruit students. The placement cell was operated by students. Internships were provided during 2nd year and a stipend was offered.
Infrastructure: Our college had huge buildings with a lush green garden. It was well-equipped with Wi-Fi, computer labs, projected classrooms, and a well-stocked library. PG or private hostels were available nearby within walking distance. Computer labs had LCD laptops.
Faculty: Teachers in our college were knowledgeable and well-qualified. They provided great insights into the subject. The course curriculum taught practical aspects to the students and made them industry ready. Industry collaboration should be improved.
    Other: Campus crowd is good.

    CUSAT MCA FAQs

Q:   Is MCA at CUSAT a good choice?

    A:
    {Source: MCA students & alumni}

Based on the feedback from students and alumni, here's a summary:

    Pros:

    * Good placement opportunities: 85% of students get placed, with top companies like Cisco, Goldman Sachs, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, and TCS visiting the campus.
    * High packages: Average salary package is 7.2 LPA, with the highest being 22 LPA, and the lowest being 3.2 LPA.
    * Friendly and knowledgeable faculty: Faculty members are well-trained, professional, and helpful.
    * Supportive environment: The college has a supportive system, providing resources and guidance to students.

    Cons:

    * Limited infrastructure: The infrastructure is old, and while it's decent, it could be improved.
    * Poor maintenance: The hostel rooms and bathrooms may not be well-maintained, according to some students.
    * Limited teaching quality: While some teachers are good, others may not be effective in delivering lectures.
    * Overly dependent on textbooks: Some students feel that teachers rely heavily on textbooks and don't encourage independent thinking or exploration of new topics.

Overall, MCA at CUSAT seems to be a good choice for those who prioritize career prospects and are willing to adapt to the limited infrastructure and teaching style. However, prospective students should weigh the pros and cons carefully before making a decision.

    Recommendations:

For students looking for a strong academic foundation and industry-ready skills, MCA at CUSAT might be a suitable option. Additionally, those seeking a supportive environment and good placement opportunities would likely find CUSAT a good fit. However, potential students should investigate further and explore alternative options to determine whether this programme aligns with their individual goals and preferences.
