On B.E. / B.Tech Admissions

Q:   I have scored less than 60% in 12th boards. Can I get admission for B.Tech at DTU?

A:

To be eligible for applying to BTech admission at DTU, candidates must meet the minimum eligibility criteria specified by the university. For BTech admission, a candidate must have passed Class 12 with minimum 60%  aggregate with PCM and English Core as subjects. The minimum aggregate for various reserved categories is 50%-55%. Hence, whether the candidate is eligible to apply for BTech admission at DTU depends on their reservation category.

However, meeting the eligibility criteria does not gurantee admission at the university. The seat allocation is based on the applicant's score in JEE Main, followed by the JAC couselling. In case a candidate fails to secure a seat for BTech at DTU, they can check out other colleges offering ofline and online BTech courses.

Q:   Can I get direct admission in DTU for BTech?

A:

One of the best engineering colleges in Delhi.
Placements: Placements in our college were awesome. Almost all students got placement offers. The highest package offered in our course was 32 LPA, and the average package was around 8 to 10 LPA. 50 to 60 percent of students got internship opportunities. Top recruiting companies were Vedanta, CEAT, and Jindal, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college was of IIT level. It has a very old campus but is in very good condition. Library facilities are available in the college. There are separate hostels for boys and girls. The food quality of the mess is good. A playground is present in the college.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, experienced, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality of professors was great. Many professors are alumni of IITs and NITs. The course curriculum is relevant. It was a great college in all aspects. Our alumni are working in big MNCs or have started their own ventures.

The okayish college for design
Placements: For our batch, the placements are not good at all. It is very different from what is being advertised on public platforms and should not be taken for reference. But the situation might get better as my juniors are getting much better opportunities on campus than we got for our batch.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure, even after constant construction throughout my duration in college, is not good. On the surface, it might look good, but they lack the bare minimum stuff for it to be considered a good design college in the first place. They spend a lot of money on departments that were never required.
Faculty: Exams here are just formality; the main weightage is given to your big project of the semester for each of the subjects. That will be considered as the priority for the subject. But with a few exceptions, both the faculty and the curriculum are not that good.
Other: The campus life and your peers are where you'll get most of your learnings from. Just do not rely on the teachers in hopes that they will teach something good.

Review of Delhi Technological University.
Placements: Around 87% of students were placed from this course. About 45% of students got internships from my course. The average salary package offered in my course is 4 LPA.
Infrastructure: The facilities provided by the hostel and my course are good. Wi-Fi availability, classrooms, library, and labs are provided by the course. Medical facilities, good-quality canteen food, and sports and games facilities are provided by the hostel. The infrastructure of my course is very good.
Faculty: The teachers are highly educated and knowledgeable. They are very helpful to students and provide good-quality teaching. Their techniques to make things understandable are very effective. This course is curriculum-relevant and makes students industry-ready.

You should definitely consider DTU!
Placements: Almost 80% of students got placed this year, although the final status of the placements is yet to be released. The average CTC was around 24.10 lacs per annum until 23/09/24. Most everyone got internships in the CSE department, given that they have a good CGPA and some skills.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are well-equipped with proper air conditioning and all. Wi-Fi also works quite well. Talking about hostels, the 1st-year hostel isn't up to the mark. The hostels are quite old, some electrical appliances are faulty, and some basic facilities like washing machines are not available. Rest is fine otherwise.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members are quite good, except for a few. They are well-educated, and their teaching methodology is also quite impressive. The course curriculum is a bit outdated, but not that much. Semester exams are not different from any other college.

Partially satisfied but doesn't have that level of facilities that IIT has.
Placements: In my batch, there are 75 students. I don't know much about packages as I haven't been informed about placements this year. I will be seeking placement, so I don't have accurate answers at the moment. Currently, no one knows if the internship opportunities are good. The cutoff is requested to be above 9, which may cause many students to continue without an internship.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good, with proper ventilation, water, and AC facilities. Wi-Fi is provided in the hall area, and the library is well-stocked with a lot of content. The sports area is also good, with ample space and equipment to play. There are proper grounds for football and cricket.
Faculty: Teachers were good, having proper knowledge of their subjects. Yes, studying IT in the era of AI is beneficial, as it provides a solid knowledge base for the future. Semester exams were quite difficult, but since all students sit together, they had the opportunity to cheat, so the overall pass percentage is good.
Other: Too many students in batch .

A:

DTU's BTech in Civil Engineering course has been rated 4.2/5 by 95 Shiksha verified students, while the same course at IIT Delhi has been rated 4.6/5 by 41 students at Shiksha. Also, as per the NIRF 2023 Rankings, Delhi Technological University has been ranked 29 under the 'Engineering' category, however, there are many IITs that are ranked before DTU in the same category. But, despite that, DTU competes against the top-notch NITs and second-phase IITs in streams such as Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Mathematics and Computing. Q:   Which college is better to pursue BTech in Mechanical Engineering among DTU and NSIT?

A:
As confirmed by a final-year Mechanical undergraduate at DTU-Professors, academics, labs and everything else may be comparable but you aren't going to study all the time. So, when it comes to activities outside the classroom, DTU trumps NSIT easily. Be it curricular fests, sports activities, cultural societies, lenient environment, better infrastructure or even campus as a whole, DTU is far better than NSIT. And taking into consideration the reputation and demand of Mechanical, DTU's Mechanical Engineering stream trumps NSIT's. Even in the field of placements, companies prefer DTU over NSIT for the recruitment of Mechanical Engineering. NSIT needs time to set up its brand when it comes to Mechanicals. '

Q:   Can I get DTU with 80 percentile in JEE Main via JAC Delhi?

A:
Usually, the cutoff for DTU stays around 90, even for the reserved categories. Therefore, getting into B.Tech courses at DTU is difficult with a JEE Main percentile score of 90 or below. The cutoff also goes high and low every year, depending on the following factors: Number of aspirants registered, The difficulty level of the exam, Total number of seats available, total number of applications received for a particular program, and the category under which admission is sought. Therefore, it is very difficult to predict the exact cutoff and give an exact answer to this question.
