DTU BTech Courses & Fees 2025: Cutoff, Placement, Admission & Eligibility

DTU offers B.Tech programme to regular, working professionals, and lateral entry candidates. Selection to the regular mode of the programme will be done on the basis of JEE Main rank and JAC Delhi counselling. Candidates who have the JEE Main 2025 AIR can register for JAC counselling for admission to the B.Tech courses offered at DTU. Note that there will be no other mode of admission in DTU B.Tech admission. JAC Delhi is a single online counselling window for admission to B.Tech courses offered by DTU. Selection to courses such as B.Tech, M.Tech, and B. Des is made on the basis of national-level exam scores. For MBA, M.Des M.Sc. And Ph.D. DTU conducts its own entrance exams. Delhi Technological University offers a four-year BTech programme across 14 specialisations along with two BTech Evening programmes to the students. The duration of the BTech evening programme is also four years. The specialisations available under the regular BTech course includes CSE, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Engineering Physics, Mathematics and Computing specialisations, among others. Yes, JEE Main Admission dates for admission to BTech at DTU. DTU Admission 2023 has ended with the spot admission for BTech. Candidates have to watch out for JEE Main exam dates 2024. DTU has a training and placement cell that prepares its students for the need of the corporate industry and acts as a bridge between organisation and the students. The students of DTU have been hired by big Indian Corporates as well as International Conglomerates such as Palantir Technologies, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, UNIQLO, Zomato, Deloitte, Flipkart, Airtel, etc. As per the 2023 placement report, the the highest package and average package offered to BTech (COE, IT, MCE) and BTech (IT) during placements 2023 stood at INR 82.05 LPA and INR 25.22 LPA, respectively.

Success Rate of Placements for B.E./B.Tech Students at DTU

To be eligible for applying to BTech admission at DTU, candidates must meet the minimum eligibility criteria specified by the university. For BTech admission, a candidate must have passed Class 12 with minimum 60%  aggregate with PCM and English Core as subjects. The minimum aggregate for various reserved categories is 50%-55%. Hence, whether the candidate is eligible to apply for BTech admission at DTU depends on their reservation category.

However, meeting the eligibility criteria does not gurantee admission at the university. The seat allocation is based on the applicant's score in JEE Main, followed by the JAC couselling. In case a candidate fails to secure a seat for BTech at DTU, they can check out other colleges offering ofline and online BTech courses.

The admission criteria for BTech at DTU clearly state that JEE Mains rank is considered for the selection of eligible candidates. Therefore, it is suggested to get qualifying scores at JEE Mains for admission at DTU. Additionally, students are also required to go through the JAC counselling process to get a seat at Delhi Technological University. After the result of JEE Main, JAC counselling for seat allotment is usually conducted in four rounds. However, there are additional spot rounds conducted for vacant seats (if available). 

For last year, the closing rank for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering was 4008 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one cannot afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however since, the cut offs keep changing year on year, it is advisable to try to score better ranks to increase your chances of getting admission in DTU - Delhi Technological University.

DTU ranked 29 under the 'Engineering' category by the NIRF 2023. There are many IITs ranked before DTU under the same category. Also, it competes against the top-notch NITs and second-phase IITs in several specialisations of BTech. Hence, it is safe to say that DTU is as good as an IIT or an NIT in northern India. In fact, The Times Rankings 2022 ranked DTU number 1 in the Delhi NCR region for 'Engineering' category.

DTU BTech students are placed in top companies like Samsung, Microsoft, Zomato, and others. Also the BTech fee is not very high. To clear JEE Main, candidates must study according to the JEE Main syllabus and appear for as many JEE Main mock tests as possible. 

As per the JEE Main Round 1 cutoff released by DTU for admission to the BTech programme, BTech CSE, IT, Software Engineering, Mathematics & Computer Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering are the top five and most competitive specialisations offered here. Having said that, the selection of specialisations must be dependent on the choice and interest of the candidate before anything else. 

The cutoff trend for B.Tech in Engineering Physics at DTU - Delhi Technological University has been decreasing in the recent years. In 2021, the closing rank for B.Tech. in Engineering Physics under General category for all India quota was 21916. In 2022, it decreased to 13103. Likewise, the cut off ranks have changed from 45821 to 33721 for OBC, 127626 to 88814 for SC, 215725 to 142444 for ST, 30849 to 17858 for EWS. This trend is likely to continue in the coming years, as the demand for engineering education in India continues to grow. Similar cut off trend can be seen for female candidates under all categories however the ranks are slightly different.
