Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   In HNB Garhwal University under CUET?

A:

Yes, now Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University will not be conducting an entrance exam separately. HNBGU admission to most of the undergraduate, postgraduate and integrated courses is now based on candidates' performance in the CUET entrance exam, conducted by NTA. Candidates with a valid CUET score are then required to go through an online counselling round conducted by HNBGU.

Q:   When are HNBGU application forms out?

A:

HNBGU admission 2024 applications can be out soon. Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (HNBGU) admission to its three campuses (Srinagar, Pauri and Tehri) is both entrance and merit-based. The University accepts CUET-UG entrance test scores for admission to undergraduate and integrated courses. In addition, the CUET-PG score is also accepted for HNBGU PG admissions. Apart from this, the University also admit students based on scores obtained in national-level examinations conducted by different authorities such as JEE Main, CAT, MAT, and UGC NET, among others.

The registration window for CUET UG is expected to begin on Feb 28, 2024. Further, the CUET UG exam will be held between May 15, 2024 and May 31, 2024 for Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University admission to the UG courses.

Q:   Is B.Sc. at HNBGU a good choice?

A:
{Source: B.Sc. students & alumni}

Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, here's a summary:

Pros:

* Good infrastructure: The college has well-maintained buildings, laboratories, and a library with a wide range of resources.
* Helpful teachers: Most teachers are qualified, knowledgeable, and willing to assist students.
* Relevant curriculum: The course curriculum is relevant and prepares students for their future careers.
* Good placement record: Although the placement rate is not high, some students do get placed in reputed companies, and the average salary package offered is around INR40,000 per month.
* Beautiful campus location: The college is situated amidst nature, with a scenic view of the Himalayas.

Cons:

* Limited placement opportunities: The college does not have a strong placement cell, and many students rely on self-efforts to secure jobs.
* Limited internships: While some students do participate in internships, the opportunities are limited, and the stipend offered is typically low (around INR10,000).
* Teachers' attitude: Some teachers are not regular attendants and prioritize theory over practical learning.
* Lack of entrepreneurial spirit: The college focuses more on theoretical knowledge, leaving little space for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Overall assessment: Based on the reviews, B.Sc. at HNBGU is a decent option for students who value academic excellence, research-oriented learning, and a picturesque campus setting. However, students must be prepared for limited placement opportunities and should consider alternative paths, such as pursuing higher education or joining government institutions.

Remember, individual experiences may vary, and it's essential to weigh the pros and cons carefully before making a decision.

Q:   Is M.Sc. at HNBGU worth the investment?

A:
{Source: M.Sc. students & alumni}

Based on the reviews and feedback from current students and alumni, here's an assessment of whether pursuing an M.Sc. at HNBGU is worth the investment:

Pros:

* Good infrastructure: The college has modernized laboratories, an engineering workshop, and a well-maintained campus with Wi-Fi connectivity throughout.
* Supportive faculty: Most students praised their professors for being highly experienced, knowledgeable, and helpful.
* Research-oriented: The course focuses on improving interpersonal skills and providing sufficient education on research, particularly in the field of physics.
* Extracurricular activities: The college organizes various events, seminars, and convocations, fostering a holistic learning experience.

Cons:

* Low placement rate: Despite efforts by the new student president, the placement record remains poor, with only a handful of students getting placed annually.
* Limited job prospects: The programme lacks direct connections with industries, making it challenging for students to secure employment after graduation.
* High expectations vs. reality gap: Some students felt that the course did not live up to their expectations, citing limited hands-on experience and a lack of emphasis on practical applications.

Neutral Points:

* Average exam difficulty: While exams are challenging, they are neither overly easy nor excessively tough, allowing students to prepare adequately.
* Limited company visits: Although the university is working towards establishing a placement cell, there is currently no opportunity for company visits or recruitments.

Conclusion:
While the M.Sc. programme at HNBGU offers some positive aspects, such as good infrastructure, supportive faculty, and research-focused education, the low placement rate and limited job prospects are significant concerns. Students considering this programme must weigh the pros against the cons before deciding whether it is worth the investment. It may be essential for the university to address these issues and improve its placement record to enhance the program's attractiveness.

HNBGU: Feels, Structure, Hostel, Infrastructure, and etc.
Placements: Approximately 40-55% of students got placed in companies in previous years in the B.Sc. department. The highest package was 8 lakh per annum, and the average package is 2-3 lakh per annum (Terms and Conditions Apply). It also depends on your network.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is too good for the college, especially good for B.Tech course students. Well-furnished labs for programming and many nurseries, greenhouses, and land for farming. Different labs are there in this university for different courses. Libraries are well-stocked and well-furnished. 6-7 hostels are available in this university inside the university.
Faculty: Teachers are too much helpful, especially in the first year of your journey. Teachers are well-knowledgeable and qualified. The course curriculum is relevant and makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are not that much hard; it totally depends on how many classes you attend and how much you focus in your class.
Other: I want to improve a little bit of time management as a B.Sc. Forestry student. Apart from that, the college is also famous for its events and fests. The university organizes grand events and multiple fests for students.

Review of Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University.
Placements: Various companies such as Patanjali, Rallis India, Byju's, etc., visit our campus and provide internships and placements. The highest salary package offered ranges between 10 LPA - 15 LPA. The average salary package offered ranges between 2 LPA - 4 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good compared to other colleges. Our college has separate buildings for different blocks. It facilitates the process of learning and workings. The campus has high-speed internet and a huge library. The hostel rooms are clean and well-maintained. Each hostel room has a separate deck except for ground floor rooms.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified. They are very supportive of academic work. The course curriculum is the same as that directed by ICAR. We have two-semester exams every year. Each semester contains 2 sessional assessment exams and one internal practical exam. Semester exams are not much difficult but require in-depth knowledge and concepts to pass exams.
Other: I opted for this course because of my interest in plants. There are around 53 students in our batch.

Our college conducts many events like fresher party, Tecnomax, etc. The hostel fee is Rs. 73,000 per year. The campus is spacious enough for students, but it is average compared to other private colleges. Our college provides scholarships to students based on their 12th and JEE Main marks.
