Q:   What if I can't get into IIT for BTech?

A:

Not getting into IIT Delhi or any other top IIT should not be considered an end to a student’s career. While IIT Delhi gave an average package of INR 17.6 LPA to its 2023 placements batch, can IIT Delhi guarantee the same for each and every student of the batch? The answer is no. What truly matters is a student’s dream to pursue a career in Engineering and as long as they are ready to work on their learning and are focused towards achieving their goal, they must not feel defeated in case of not getting into IIT Delhi.

Additionally, students always have an option to go for other good private and government universities and colleges to pursue their BTech degree. Some of these options are as follows:

This college can be a bit stressfull sometimes, but overall a dream college for all.
Placements: 80 to 90% of students got placed last year. The placement ratio is pretty good. No data on the highest and the lowest package is known as of right now. For my course, in the core, the top recruiters are OIL, pharmaceutical companies, and Indian Oil. Non-core recruiters are all that recruit in all branches. No data for internship percentage. No idea about the roles offered in our course.
Infrastructure: The labs are in holder buildings known as blocks. They are a bit worn down due to them being pretty old. Rest no information. Regarding hostels, it is a bit cramped. Three people are allotted a room for two. Sometimes water supply gets shut off at night. For sports, there is a badminton and basketball court and a Table tennis table. Wi-Fi is also good. Food can be bad sometimes.
Faculty: Not many ideas regarding this since I am a first-year student where all the courses are common for all and nothing branch specific is taught. Right now in the first year of Sem 1 courses in electrical, CS Physics and Maths are taught. The teachers are good. I don't think it is that relevant since what is the use of an electrical course for someone pursuing chemical engineering? Passing is not that difficult but maintaining a good CGPA definitely is.

This college is good in everything.
Placements: They provide placements all over India and produces perfect engineers every year. There is no problem to find placements. Many students got a crores package also. The average package of the college is approximately 21 Lacs. Many students don't go for jobs and start their own business.
Infrastructure: The hostels are very nice and mess has amazing food. If you are in stress, you can go to another room and talk to them. The college have sports grounds. If you are interested in any particular sports, you can practice here daily. And you can make your future also.
Faculty: Faculty is very helpful in everything. You can reach to them if you have any problem. Curriculum is very good. Exams are very hard so that we work hard and get good placements. They take exam in 1 month so we can check ourselves.
Other: Campus life is amazing. If you need something you can reach to anyone. Most important thing all students are against ragging.

Absolutely dissatisfied with the course curriculum of mathematics and computing department at IIT D.
Placements: The highest package would be around 2 CR, which is PPO. And the lowest, I would say, CTC is 8 lpa. I'm in the mathematics and computing branch at IIT Delhi, so I would say that till the 4th day, almost 50% were placed and till the 10th, 75%. As per the recession, it's quite okay for me. But in normal situations, it could have been way better. Top companies like Graviton, NVidia, Google, Microsoft and many more. The top two roles were software and data analysts.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure available in my department are quite good, as per need. We have proper classes in the lecture hall and have Wi-Fi access at all locations on campus. Also, library hours are nice. And we have 24*7 access to the library at times of examination. Mess food quality is okay, not worse and not good. I'm in the Himadri Hostel. The canteen is okay too and medical facilities are also okay. The same goes for sports and games.
Faculty: Average teaching quality was very nice and some professors connected really well with us and conveyed concepts but we have some not-so-good professors too who aren't interested in average students and focused only on tips, which is not quite a good strategy. The course curriculum for my branch could be made more structured and flexible. Semester exams are difficult; it depends on the professor taking the course but overall, if you have prepared for the whole semester, it's easy and if you only do them two days before exams, it's going to be tough.
Other: I wanted to be in only the top IITs, so I took the most valuable branch I could get, which is mathematics and computing, at IIT Delhi. The best thing is that you are going to get placed even if you are putting in very little effort. To be improved would be its curriculum and the way of teaching. Extracurricular activities were excellent at IIT Delhi, but they have declined in recent years.

IIT Delhi review as a 1st year student.
Placements: Placements are really good even during period of recession. Many companies come here to recruit some of which are the companies who take only 4-5 students from all over India. So placement is really good. Some of the high paying companies for consulting and tech also recruit from here.
Infrastructure: Hostel is not that good at least for UG students because infrastructure is really old and not changed. Course, lecture hall and other facilities are really good. Sports facilities are also up to the date. Wi-Fi is really good.
Faculty: Exams are tough. The faculties are some of the best in the whole country.

Bad infrastructure but worth it.
Placements: Placements is almost 100% but not always in the desired roles. Average package is 22 LPA. Top roles offered are consultancy jobs and teaching jobs. Internship in 3rd year is almost 75%, every 3 out of 4 people do get an internship along with a PPO. The highest packages are offered by quant.
Infrastructure: Very bad living conditions in hostels, not at all up to IIT standards. Expected a lot more from this college, but other things like library and classrooms are excellent and teachers and amazing. But hostel conditions are very bad. Wi-Fi is mostly good.
Faculty: A very strong focus on curriculum and continuous exams and quizzes.

IIT Delhi: The average college in India.
Placements: IIT Delhi has a strong placement record for Textile Engineering students. About 80% of students secure jobs through campus placements. The placement cell works with top recruiters to provide students with valuable preparation resources and support.
Infrastructure: IIT Delhi's hostel infrastructure is in dire need of an upgrade. Many of the hostels are over 60 years old, and have seen minimal renovation or upgrades in recent years. A modern update would greatly improve the overall living experience. The IITD hospital also has its limitations, with a shortage of well-qualified doctors and outdated facilities. This can make it challenging for students to receive quality medical care on campus. On a positive note, the library stands out as a valuable resource, offering a well-organized, quiet space for study, with a wide range of academic resources and materials that effectively support the academic needs of students.
Faculty: IIT Delhi's Textile Engineering department has highly qualified, knowledgeable, and committed professors. They make complex topics understandable and help students develop technical skills and analytical thinking. However, the administration, including certain deans and the academic body, can be difficult to deal with. Their strict policies and rigid grading practices can be stressful and affect students' CGPA outcome. Students may feel that there is less flexibility and support for their well-being and academic growth.

IIT Delhi does not offer direct admission to MSc course. The institute considers IIT JAM score followed by CCMN counselling. However, for the MSc cognitive Science programmes, selection is based on a score in COGJET/GATE/JAM/NET followed by an interview round for MSc programme.
