Honest opinion on M.Sc. Biotech from Jamia Hamdard.
Placements: Jamia Hamdard is one of the best university in India. Many companies visit our campus and we do have a placement cell. But for Biotechnology students, it is not very helpful. Most companies prefer to take CS students or B.Tech students. A couple of my friends did get a job but it was not worth money wise. Few others were placed in TCS and Infosys. We do get internship opportunity during our Masters. I did my internship at the University of Delhi and it was a great experience to be in North Campus. It was an unpaid internship. As far as I remember None of my friends had paid internship.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good and the university provides quality education. We did not have Wi-Fi everywhere when I was studying but I am assured that not university is fully covered with Wi-Fi. The classrooms are normal. It is just like every other classroom of most of the university. We have a big library with loads of books. The is a medical center also and the university also has a big sports ground. The labs and classrooms are normal. They are not very good but are sufficient to carry out your master's project. I was a day scholar so I can not comment about the hostel and the facility it provides but it was good and None of my persistently complained about anything. The canteen food is lip-smacking and very tasty. It is also pocket-friendly.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are good, experienced and have their Ph.D. From reputed colleges in India. They are very helpful and kind towards students. I got proper assistance from all of my professors for my project work. The teaching quality is good, however, the teaching method employed are still traditional. The student to faculty ratio is somewhat 15:1 which is a good sign. But we do have teachers do also teach students of other branches. So it is very hard to put it precisely. I did not have any industrial visit during my Masters.

jamia hamdard is not good for biotechnology
Placements: The placements were not provided to our seniors. Even when requested, the department calls only one company which is not big in the name of placements. Wherein, if selected, the pay is less. So, nobody opts for such placements and look out for PhD. Nobody got the internship from the college. The students arranged for it on their own during their vacations.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good. The laboratories are also nicely equipped with required instruments to conduct the experiments and research, but these are available in CIF (common instrumentation facility), i.e. all the departments of the faculty of chemical and life sciences share the instruments. Every department also has their own department instrumentation facility which includes basic instruments like deep freezers, PCR machine, stirrers, PH Meter, Centrifuge, etc. This biotechnology department has 2 culture rooms for both animal and plant cell culture.
Faculty: The course curriculum is made by considering all the important fields, but the one paper which they offer Bioinformatics is not useful in the way they teach. Jamia people only teach it theoretically whereas this paper is to be explained with practical knowledge. This institution lacks the teaching faculty, and they are outnumbered due to which teachers are forced to teach the paper in which they do not have any kind of experience and specialisation.
Other: The common university fest does not happen. One university organises an event which is the sports meet, and it is a full-fledged event of one week. The campus is good, but outside the campus, the surroundings are not decent.
