Q:   Is JNU MCA entrance tough?

A:

JNU MCA admission is based on a valid Central University Entrance Test (Postgraduate) CUET-PG score. CUET PG is an all-India-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Although the questions were on the expected lines and within the CUET PG syllabus but according to some students, a few questions were out of the syllabus and tricky. A glimpse to JNU - A HOME .
Placements: In 2023, the average package offered to UG graduates was Rs. 8 LPA, and to PG graduates, it was Rs. 9.50 to Rs. 10 LPA. Top recruiters included Cradlepoint, Optum, and Salesforce. There are a lot of internships for students provided by the Russian embassy and ambassador managers.
Infrastructure: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in New Delhi, India, has many facilities and infrastructure, including a central library. It is a nine-story building with a carpet area of 100,000 square feet. It has a collection of books, periodicals, journals, newspapers, and e-books. There are several hostels and residential quarters for students, faculty, and non-teaching staff.
Faculty: Teachers are very well-qualified. They have done their Ph.D. and also have teaching experience. My course is very demanding in this era, and it makes it easier for foreign tourists to explore India. College exams are not difficult, but there are 4 exams in each semester.
Other: The reason to choose this course is that JNU offers only foreign languages in its undergraduate program, and I chose the Russian language because of my affection towards it. Students with low family income (less than 2.5 Lacs) are given a scholarship of 2000 per month.

The college provides excellent education and amazing quality education.
Placements: The highest package offered by the college was around 20 LPA, and the average package was around 6 lacs per annum. Around 30-40% of students were placed from the college. Our college also organized various research projects in which various students could participate and enhance their skills. Top companies include Google, Qualcomm, and many more. The placement cell is very responsive.
Infrastructure: The food quality of the canteen is excellent, and the events that take place all over the year are really spectacular. The college provides free Wi-Fi, and the classrooms are very large. The sports facility is also good, with a massive field. Both medical and sports facilities are present in the college.
Faculty: The teachers are very qualified. Students most of the time study by themselves. The exam pattern was simple. The paper used to be 75 marks, and 25 marks were internal marks that the college used to give us by assessing our performance each semester. All the faculty members are the real gems of our department and will guide you in the best way possible.

If one has no option, then come to this college.
Placements: It is my first year but I know seniors who got placements last year with salary package of 10 LPA. The highest salary package offered is 33 LPA, but it was an off-campus placement. I also know a second-year student who is doing an internship at MNIT Jaipur and has received offers for an internship from IIT Delhi.
Infrastructure: The course and hostel infrastructure available here are very bad because there is no building for classes on this campus. We have been living in a dormitory for four months and have not been assigned a hostel. New hostels and buildings for engineering students are under construction.
Faculty: Some teachers are very helpful but others are not. Teachers have very little experience but their qualifications are good, though not 100%. Semester exam level is normal and some teachers give questions directly from notes. Pass percentage is approximately 85.
Other: I want to share that if one really wants to do computer science, try not to come to this college. If one has no option, then one can come.

An average college for admission.
Placements: Since my batch is the first in terms of placement, there is no set quantity. Since our study is integrated, we will graduate with an M.Sc., and our university offers a respectable M.Sc. placement. Some choose the career, and many choose research-oriented sectors. Last year, the lowest package was 8 lacs per year, and the highest I've seen was 21 lacs per year.
Infrastructure: The laboratories and classes are excellent, and they are all air-conditioned. They are rather new, and they have all the equipment you need. The library is fantastic and open around the clock. In the library, academic buildings, and dorms, all students have access to high-speed (20 MB/sec) and unlimited Wi-Fi. Even though the new hostels are being built and have good space, the current hostel system is somewhat disorganized. There will therefore be first-rate facilities after the development is completed. Although the mess food isn't as nice as it is at other hostels, it still receives a four out of seven. The medical center is open 24/7 and is free of charge. The health center is spacious and adequate for everyone.
Faculty: Every student receives assistance and responsiveness from the professors. Since many of them are academics who are also conducting research in the field, they are highly qualified and have firsthand knowledge of the subjects. Good instruction that is appropriate for the pupils' level is provided. The course syllabus isn't quite as good as it could be, but improvements are being made. Students are prepared for the workforce via it.

Review of placements and crowds.
Placements: A maximum of students, especially from the Chinese department, got placed off campus with a good package of around 60 thousand plus. Our Chinese department has a good network of alumni. Also, if you clear the HSK exam in Chinese, you can get the chance to visit China and learn.
Infrastructure: Not too well-maintained hostel. You should maintain the hostel yourself. The food quality depends on the hostel. The bill for the course is around 3500-4000 per month. Laundry service is also available within the campus and also in a few of the hostels. Canteen is so good.
Faculty: Best institute to examine yourself. All the faculty here are the best and top class, well qualified as well. So many of them also studied at Jawaharlal Nehru University when they were students. They give you the best coordination from their side. You can ask everything without hesitation.
Other: Good crowd, regular fests, etc. are there.

Not good for students who are seeking campus placement opportunities.
Placements: The highest salary package offered is about 12 LPA. There's no need to worry too much about placement, it depends on students. It's more about students rather than a college or university. Around 20% of students got hired.
Infrastructure: Whole campus is Wi-fi enabled, but the speed is quite poor. Campus has a great network overall, so we can access the internet on mobile phones. There are no fees for a hostel and dorms are provided for those students who are unable to get a hostel room from the institute.
Faculty: Faculty members are not good. New staff lacks teaching experience and are unable to teach us without using PPT or handbook notes. Faculty members need to understand that skilled and qualified teachers are required for teaching.
Other: If one wants to enjoy college life, this is the best college. There is no need to worry about anything, as there is a freedom for both boys and girls.

Q:   Is JNU better than DU?

A:

As per the NIRF 2024 rankings, JNU is ranked 2nd, while DU is ranked 6th under 'University' category. This clearly suggests that JNU is a better university overall. However, these rankings are based on a variety of factors. Furthermore, the best university for a student will depend on the individual needs and preferences. Here is the comparison of JNU and DU based on some key factors:

  • Academics: JNU is known for its strong academics and research focus. It has a number of world-renowned faculty members, and its students have gone on to achieve great things in their careers. DU is also a good university academically, but it is not as research-intensive as JNU.
  • Campus Life: JNU has a vibrant campus life with a strong student union. There are many student organizations and activities, and the university has a reputation for being a hotbed of political activism. DU also has a good campus life, but it is not as political as JNU.
  • Location: JNU is located in South Delhi, while DU is spread out across the city. This means that JNU students have a more central location, while DU students have more options when it comes to choosing a college or hostel.
  • Fees: The fees at JNU are lower than the fees at DU. This is because JNU is a central university, while DU is a state university.
