B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2027
Offered by Birsa Institute of Technology, Sindri
3.6

About BIT Sindri - The best government engineering college in Jharkhand.
Placements: Around 93% of students in the department of electrical engineering got placed last year. The highest salary package offered is 12 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 3.75 LPA. Recruiting companies are Tata Power, Tata Steel, JSW, TCS, etc. Almost 45-50% of students got internship opportunities. The roles offered here are mostly core job profiles, software development roles, teaching jobs, etc.
Infrastructure: The department of electrical engineering holds ample facilities for nurturing future technocrats. It has fine classrooms and a dedicated laboratory for each subject like power system, machines lab, etc. The campus owns its central library with pride. It has many books for most of the students. Despite such facilities we have Wi-Fi environment limited to the library only. The quality of facilities whether it be hostel, sports, and food everything is average.
Faculty: Teachers here are experienced. But the classes here are not so interactive, it becomes boring often. The courses are tailored to tackling problems of the future. The courses are updated and the students are trained well. Semester examinations are moderate in difficult and almost all the students pass them.
Other: I chose electrical engineering as a course because of its versatility and the upcoming innovation supports its growth in the coming years. Some improvements like real-world projects and workshops amalgamating AI with electrical engineering must be brought under study. The college hosts a wide variety of events starting from sports to arts. Tech fests are the main attraction that brings students from all over the state to participate. Connectivity is also sorted due to the availability of trains and auto rickshaws running all day from Dhanbad to Sindri. The campus is lush green and gives the students a fresh environment for study and innovation.

From my point of view, faculty members are average and infrastructure is good.
Placements: A total of 520+ campus placement offers have been received by the students, in which 467 have been placed in the year of 2023-24 with an average of 7 LPA. The highest on-campus package is 16.50 LPA, and the lowest is 2 LPA. Top recruiting companies are TATA Steel, Vedanta, Deloitte, Samsung, ITC, Yamaha Motors, JSW, HUL, Reliance Industries, TCS, Adani, Aditya Birla Group and many more. About 30-35 percent of students of each branch got an internship.
Infrastructure: If you talk about infrastructure academically, there are different buildings for different departments and there are proper labs, Wi-Fi inbuilt and classrooms that are okay. If you talk about the library, there are too many books, but there is no more space for self-reading.
Faculty: Some professors are helpful and some are not. Some professors are qualified from IIT and NIT. The course is based on an updated syllabus since it makes the students industry-ready. If you talk about semester exam difficulty level, it is average. If you look at the passing percentage, it is about 85-90 percent.

Facts about BIT Sindri, Dhanbad.
Placements: 60% of students got placements in the placement session. The highest package was 16.5 LPA, the lowest was 3 LPA, and the average was around 7 LPA. Vedanta, Deloitte, etc., are top recruiters. 80% got internships. For placement, you need to put in your effort and be in the top 20% of your branch.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not up to par with this generation. Hostels are not good; bathrooms were very dirty. The mess food is decent, but the taste is not so good. Wi-Fi is not available on the campus. Medical facilities are very poor in the college, and there are no medical facilities around the college.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified, helpful, and support students in appearing for the GATE exam. They teach as per the curriculum. Semester exams are very challenging; you have to put in effort to pass. A one-night study will not help you pass the exam.
Other: I appeared for the JEE exam, and according to my rank, I got into the college.

BIT Sindri offers average placements, low fees, good faculty, and a large alumni network.
Placements: The placements of core branches such as Electrical and Mechanical are quite good enough, and the placements of soft and lower branches are average or below average. Many good companies also come to hire, such as Samsung, JSW, Vedanta, etc. Internships are also quite good enough for core branches.
Infrastructure: BIT Sindri has very old infrastructure like hostels, lecture halls, auditorium, etc. There is no facility of Wi-Fi at hostels or lecture halls. Wi-Fi is only available at the library. The food in the mess is decent. No such medical facility is present inside the campus. Average quality of sports and games facilities are provided.
Faculty: Professors are highly educated and experienced in academics. The curriculum of BIT Sindri is also good and relevant. The teaching quality is also good enough. End semester exams are moderate and good enough to check academic knowledge. Results are announced very late.
Other: I chose Electrical for the good placement percentage and job stability. Also, these branches are evergreen and have good growth in industries. A good number of events and seminars are done over time in college. There is no such fest held in the college. Many activities are done by some clubs on campus.

BIT Sindri - Second to none.
Placements: Almost 70-75% of students get placed. Almost all students from core branches gets placed but students from technical branches face some difficulties in placements. The highest salary package offered is 50 LPA. The minimum salary package offered is 3.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies from mechanical engineering branch are Tata, Jindal Power, JSW, etc. Almost 50-60% of students get paid and unpaid internships from our campus in different companies like Tata Steel, BCCL, SAIL, etc.
Infrastructure: Facilities that offers to us are decent. All the buildings are very old as college was established in 1949. There are Wi-Fi facilities in some advanced labs like siemens lab, material characterization lab, etc. Mess quality is below average as per its feels. Mess fee is Rs 4,000 per month but it does not match its price. Canteen is being reconstructed and the food quality in the canteen is quite good as per its price. In our college, medical facilities are not good. Our college organises different sports events which are being managed by our sports club.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified and knowledgeable but are not very helpful. Teaching quality is not good as sometimes teachers themselves do not take classes without informing us prior. Course curriculum is relevant as it's based on NEP (National Education Policy). Difficulty of the semester examinations is moderate. Around 80-95% of students pass the examination.
Other: Since I got 92% in JEE main examination and I appeared in JCECEB counselling through which I got Mechanical Branch of BIT Sindri. Its annual fee is roughly around Rs 16,000 which is very affordable as compared to other engineering colleges. I want to improve faculty members of my courses as they are not very interested in teaching. There are many events and annual tech fests organised in our college by different clubs and societies.

B.Tech. in Civil Engineering - Batch of 2027

Not much better for civil branch campus placement.
Placements: I am from civil engineering branch and in my batch, approximately 70 percent of students have been placed every year. The top recruiting companies are JSW, Vedanta, Aditya Birla, Unacademy, etc. The highest package in this year is 13 LPA, with an average package of 6.5 LPA.
Infrastructure: Every branch has a different building, and for each branch there are well-educated professors, and the quality of teachers is too good, but only because it is a government college. It has some limitations, like a lack of proper management. The library is there but not open all the time and closes at every festival.
Faculty: Teachers and there teaching techniques are helpful for exams because they are well educated. Our civil branch is to meaningful in this area because of the newly constructed area of Dhanbad and has huge requirements in this field. The semester exams are not that tough if you have studied properly.
