A college with average placement, improved infrastructure, and good (and strict) academics.
Placements: Most students get placed, but it all comes down to your skills and knowledge. If you have those skills, you will get placed. The highest package goes from INR 20 to 30 lacs if applied to non-core companies. This is because it's a research field where most of the students go for higher studies, and companies also demand more qualified students. Many students go for side options like preparing for government exams or learning coding to get placed in non-core companies; one of the seniors did a B.Tech. in Biotech but cleared GATE in the ECE department; some students here are quite good. So ultimately, there are many divergent paths other than the core field. For core companies, it's around INR 6 to 10 lacs. Biocon is the top recruiter for my branch.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure facilities are average; every facility is available: labs, classrooms, libraries, etc. Hostel facilities are average; some are old while others are new, but all hostels have basic facilities like a gym, study room, TV room, music room, etc. Coming to Mess, it's not the best but average; the food is good; some dishes are not restaurant-level, but they're good and edible. Canteens are also good, and medical facilities are available. For any problem, you get seamless and free treatment.
Faculty: Professors are qualified and knowledgeable; teaching quality is average; you have to make an effort to learn things; no spoon-feeding will be done. The course curriculum is relevant, but it is quite old. Students will be industry-ready if and only if they make an effort. Semester exams are quite hard, but students make way for themselves through last-night studies, and the pass percentage is high as most of the students pass.
Other: I chose Biotechnology as I was quite interested in it; I was not getting any circuital branches, so I preferred to go with the research field. The thing that must be improved is the curriculum; it's still very old and not up to high standards like those of foreign colleges. Events, hall fests, and clubs are abundant; every time something is happening in the college, if nothing else, then exams are going on.

I am satisfied with its placements, infrastructure, and facilities.
Placements: Almost 75% of students got placed in our course. The highest salary package offered was 15 LPA. The lowest salary package offered was 3 LPA.
Infrastructure: Our campus is excellent. The infrastructure is also good. Our classrooms are better. Hostel rooms are small. There are only 2 hostels for girls, and the food quality is average.
Faculty: Faculty members are good in our college. Our course curriculum is average. Teachers are also knowledgeable, helpful, and well-qualified. This course makes students ready for the industry. Semester exams are easy.

I am absolutely satisfied with the college life.
Placements: Biotechnology generally requires research oriented mind groups. A good section of passing out batch has cracked GATE and are willing to pursue M.Tech in biotechnology. However, some of them have shifted towards software field having a good record of placements.
Infrastructure: Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology department have their own building in NIT Rourkela specialising in different laboratories with ongoing large projects and research work. Professors and students coordinate the research work and publish research papers.
Faculty: Professors in our college are quite helpful, well qualified, and have done their PhDs from renowned universities. The course curriculum is designed in such a way that fresh students too find it easy to grasp new concepts about environment on molecular level. Semesters exams are not too hard to score a good GPA and pass criteria is above 6 GPA.
Other: I chose this course out of my interest and found certain better things about this course. In the course of time like practicals and observing tiny life of microorganisms. Events are organised in the college every now and then by the administration and club activating in college. The campus surrounding is very greenery and soothing to a depressed mind. There are 3 tests are organised each year by the SAC of college out of which one is tech-fest and the other two are cultural fests.

I am very satisfied as many students are placed, and enjoy their college life to a great extent.
Placements: Around 85-90% of students are placed, and other branch students are also placed. The maximum is placed in the IT software sector, not in core companies. So if students can get into higher branches like CS, electronics, and electrical there is a good chance of getting placed in the core sector. Chemical is also good about core placements.
Infrastructure: The facilities in the department are good, and the laboratories are very much advanced. If students are interested in the research sector in the biotechnology field then this college is good. Hostel facilities are good, and they provide a single room to every B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D. student. About the Wi-Fi and internet, they provide LAN to every room which works fine.
Faculty: Faculty members are very much strict as it is NIT. Exams are also very tough. Students have to survive those conditions to make themselves better people who can tackle all the obstacles that will come in their life. The attendance system is also very strict. Students can leave twice the number of classes according to the credit after that they will face harsh penalties.
Other: Mega fests are held every semester. Spring fests and autumn fests are named NU and Innovision in this college.

The college is excellent, and there are great research opportunities.
Placements: About 85% of students get placed, and the rest opt for higher studies. The highest salary package offered is 17 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered is 3 LPA. The average salary package offered is 6.6 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Vedanta, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, etc., visit the college for placements. Almost all students got internships, and some students get internships in reputed institutions like TIFR, BARC, IISc Bangalore, etc. Biotech is one of its kind, with several students pursuing research internships abroad.
Infrastructure: It was established in 2007. The department is equipped with high-end instruments like UTMs, DSC, FTIR, Bioreactors, etc. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled, and lawns are available. Labs and classrooms are good. Hostel facilities and quality of mess food are good as compared to other institutions. Sports facilities are one of the best here. Night canteen is also available. Medical facilities are available 24x7.
Faculty: Some teachers in our college are good. Almost all teachers are well-qualified. Their teaching quality is ordinary, like every government engineering institute. The course curriculum is relevant, and every professor has the right to design their own curriculum. It is a bit difficult to score a good CGPA here. It has a strict marking system. Almost all students are passed, but not all scored a good CGPA.

Hi Mausumi, As you have scored 48 percentile in JEE Mains exam 2019 and you belong to ST category so you are eligible to participate in the counselling process. Still getting a seat in NIT will be difficult with this score. So I will suggest you to apply for some other colleges also. Best of luck.
