No, NIT Trichy does not offer admission to any of its courses directly. Admission is strictly entrance-based. For BTech, MTech, MSc, and MCA courses, national-level examinations such as JEE Main,  GATE,  IIT JAM, and NIMCET are accepted. Candidates shortlisted based on the exam scores further need to take part in the respective counselling procedures such as JoSAA for BTech, CCMT for MTech, and CCMN for MSc.

To join a three-year MCA course at NIT Trichy, candidates must fulfil the minimum eligibility requirements of the course as stated on the official website of NIT. To pursue this full-time PG-level course at NIT Trichy, candidates are required to pass graduation with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Business Mathematics as one of the subjects. Candidates must have obtained minimum 60% aggregate in the final examination of graduation. Candidates who are appearing for the final examinations of graduation are also eligible to apply.

As per the unofficial sources, the total seat intake for a three-year MCA course at NIT Trichy is 115. These seats are filled via NIMCET exam. If the seats are left vacant after this round, then those are filled through the CSAB counselling. BTech in CSE at NIT Trichy is based on JEE Main scores followed by JoSAA Counselling. In case of vacant seats, CSAB Counselling is conducted for two special rounds post the JoSAA Counselling.
