SD College, Chandigarh - worth it or not.
Placements: I don't have much idea about placements as this is my first year, but the college enjoys a good reputation for placements, and it also advertises a 100% placement record. The college is under Panjab University, so after graduation, students receive a degree from PU, and PU is reputed, and this can help in getting placements.
Infrastructure: The college has great facilities. It has four canteens, and various types of products are available in each one of them. Refreshments are also available at an affordable price. The college has a big library, and almost all kinds of books are available there and are properly arranged so that students can find them easily. There is also a reading hall above the canteen where we can study peacefully.
Faculty: Teachers are really a great support to students. Teachers are also qualified and supportive and dig deep into the topic for students to understand. The course is also relevant. There are also various subjects like business communications and financial literacy that can be of some help to students in the real, practical world. The semester exams are not much difficult. They are easy but a bit lengthy. The pass percentage is 25%, but the time given is three hours for a 90-mark exam, and that many students feel is less, and that is a fallback.
Other: I chose economics honors because I aim to do either IFS or banking service work. The college holds regular fests, and there are also grounds and proper playing conditions for all the sports, and labs are also in good condition. The only thing is that sometimes the benches of classes feel very uncomfortable.

Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Hons.) - Batch of 2028
Offered by Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh
3.2

Satisfied because of good faculty and facilities.
Placements: Above 50% of students are placed in Bachelor of Arts. The college does offer placement to them, but B.A. students mostly don't take them. Most placements are offered to BCA students. The packages offered to them are mostly average but also depend on the qualifications of the students.
Infrastructure: The college has average infrastructure, typically that of a government college. The classrooms are big, with wooden benches, and have big windows providing good ventilation. The college has different departments, each with its own labs. The library is very big, with AC facilities, and offers study material related to each and every course offered. The quality of hostels is average, and the quality of food offered by the mess is eatable. The hostel rooms are mostly shared between two girls. The college has a dispensary within, which offers medical care to the girls. In case of emergencies, the girls can visit PGI or Government Hospital, Sector 16. The college offers various sports activities as well as NCC and NSS.
Faculty: The teachers of the college are well-qualified and knowledgeable. Overall, the teaching quality is above average. The students who have started college in 2024 have a new curriculum under NEP. This curriculum is quite relevant. It makes students ready for their future occupations and helps them deal with their stress. The semester exams are not very tough. The pass percentage is 80%. Students need to be prepared beforehand and have all their concepts clear.
Other: I am currently studying Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. The Psychology department of PGGCG-11 is very good and talked about in Chandigarh. Every department of the college organizes different events and extracurricular activities throughout the year. The Psychology department of PGGCG-11 is very interactive and active with their events.

It's a good college for studies. Campus is good. But placements are not worth it.
Placements: Only some students got placed in the B.A. course. The companies are not verified by the college, and you have to do everything at your own risk. The average package of placement was very low, around 2–3 LPA. I am very grateful for my own placement in this course.
Infrastructure: The rooms of the girls hostel are average-looking. The average size, not many facilities, no Wi-Fi, and the and the library are pretty good, though. The quality of the food is worth the money. The canteen is nearby and provides tasty food that is mostly clean. Medical facilities are provided.
Faculty: The teaching quality is pretty average. Some teachers are very knowledgeable and have a unique teaching style; they care about students, whereas some teachers do not care about students and are rude. They don't even complete the syllabus before exams.

Good college for upcoming students.
Placements: As I have just passed out from this college, from Bachelor of Arts. The college campus is very good, and teachers are also highly qualified. Internships are also included in this college as the teacher encourages us to do the internship and guide us in everything.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is very good. They are good in sports, which includes NCC, NSS, etc. The college canteen's food is also good; we always eat from the canteen. It is very hygienic, and the quality of the food is very good. The hostel of the college is also good, which includes AC and coolers.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful in the college, and they are highly qualified. They are very friendly and teach each and every thing very properly. The semester exams are also kind of easy because our teacher teaches us in a very good manner. Pass percentage is also a genuine in the college.
Other: The college campus and study both are good for a student. I will definitely recommend students take admission in this college. Students can also enjoy their student life in the college; it is very good. The crowd of the college is very good, as well as the fests and events that were also there.

MCM, a good college for studying, making friends, and overall having a good college, but no placemen
Placements: Honestly, there were no placements given for my course, Bachelor's in Arts, in MCM college! Students with BBA degrees did get placed into companies but with very low salaries! This was a negative point for MCM. There were no internships, no placements provided by our college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of my college was very aesthetically pleasing. It was very artistic and calm. The canteen was hygienic, and there was Wi-Fi, psychology, computer labs! The library was very vast and had a wide range of resources, including books, journals, magazines, and daily newspapers. I did not opt for the hostel.
Faculty: The faculty is well-acknowledged and had a higher education level like Ph.D. Masters! Teaching quality was pretty average. Psychology teachers were, however, very helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. Their way of teaching was very nice! Yes, we had 2 compulsory subjects every semester which were Punjabi/History of Culture, Punjabi, and English. We were to choose 3 other subjects; I chose psychology, sociology, and political science. Semester exams were medium difficult. Questions were based on what we have studied, and past year questions used to repeat most of the time, so it made it quite easy!
Other: Bachelor's in Arts opens up so many opportunities. I wasn't really sure after what to pursue after the 12th but had a very keen interest in psychology, so I went with this course, and I do not regret it! I guess maybe a more practical way of teaching could help make it better, like real-life industrial experience for psychology! Hospital visits or real-life case studies! The campus crowd was good. There was a diversity of girls in our college. There were people from all across the country. Made many friends from Himachal! Cultural fests, NSS, and NCC clubs were there too! Sector 36 market was best for food. We went to Sector 15 for Chinese and affordable food options.

Dissatisfied with the quality, otherwise a good option.
Placements: We were not assured for placements, and hence, not provided with any. But I assume there could be placement guarantee for the students in business and commerce related courses. Bachelor of Arts does not assure of any such thing. The teachers can guide you otherwise.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are okay. Some classrooms need renovation, otherwise they are fine. The labs are well maintained. Library needs an updation for the books as those are too old editions. The college canteens are price and the food is not up to the mark, but an alternative to them could be eateries nearby. Medical facility isn't upto the mark, however an ambulance for the hostelers has been brought recently.
Faculty: Some of the teachers are serious and regular, while most of them are not. The curriculum is interesting. It is easy to score in internal tests, but scoring in final exams is a little difficult due to the uncertain checking by the University. You might not be able to score high, but can easily pass the semester exams.
Other: The college fests are rare and disorganised. However, college clubs can be a good forum for you to connect with similar people and make friends. Scholarships are available and easily accessible. Extracurricular activities take place once in a while.
