Q:   What is the selection process for B.V.Sc. & AH and what is the minimum 12th class percentage required?

A:

The selection process for B.V.Sc. & AH at Tamil Nadu Veterinary & Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) involves multiple stages, with a minimum 12th class percentage required depending on various factors. The primary requirement is qualifying through the National Eligibility Test (NEET) with a sufficient percentile score. Academic merit may also be considered, with some seats requiring additional interview rounds. Eligible candidates participate in online counseling based on their NEET ranks and preferences.

The minimum 12th class percentage for general merit is at least 50% or above in each subject, which significantly improves the chances of qualifying for NEET and securing a seat at TANUVAS. For reserved categories like SC, ST, and OBC, the minimum 12th class percentage might be lower than 50%.

Q:   Which one is better for B.V.Sc.Veterinary College & Research Institute, Thanjavur or Tamil Nadu Veterinary & Animal Sciences University?

A:

Choosing between VCRIT and TANUVAS for B.V.Sc. requires a thorough evaluation of their strengths and weaknesses. VCRIT has modern facilities, experienced faculty, smaller class sizes, and a focus on practical learning through clinical exposure and farm visits. It also offers lower fees, depending on scholarship opportunities and government regulations. However, it may not have the same established reputation as TANUVAS, especially among older generations or employers in specific regions.

TANUVAS, on the other hand, has an established reputation for excellence in veterinary education, offering a wider range of specializations, strong industry collaborations, advanced research facilities, and an active alumni network. Its location in Chennai may be less convenient than VCRIT's Thanjavur location.

The "better" choice depends on individual priorities and circumstances. If you prioritize a modern campus, smaller class sizes, and hands-on experience, VCRIT might be a good fit. If you value an established reputation, wider specialisation options, strong industry connections, and research opportunities, TANUVAS might be the better choice.

To make an informed decision, consider factors like scholarship options, financial aid availability, accommodation costs, and long-term career goals alongside the strengths and weaknesses of each college.

Good veterinary college in the heart of Chennai City.
Placements: As far as the veterinary sector is concerned, it is very rare to get companies for campus recruitment. But MVC and TANUVAS faculty try to get pharmaceutical, poultry, dairy, and animal welfare companies for campus recruitment every year. The veterinary sector has a wide variety of options for placement. The campus offers help for scholarships in both UG and PG levels. For freshers, the highest package was 50k.
Infrastructure: Madras Veterinary College, Chennai has one of Asia's biggest veterinary libraries. The campus has Wi-Fi, a canteen, and a cooperative store. Every department has a well-furnished laboratory and classroom. The campus was built in the 1800s, and the architecture from the colonial times is still well preserved. Madras Veterinary College Hostel is average. Rooms are small. Hostel food is Tamil cuisine. Food is fine. Hostel rent is reasonable. The hostel has a basketball court, badminton court, table tennis, gym, etc. The hostel offers UPSC training.
Faculty: All of the staff are well qualified, and the majority of the staff are approachable. Faculty regularly conduct conferences relevant to the industry and the veterinary sector. Exams in TANUVAS are quite hard compared to other veterinary universities, and they are quite strict with evaluation.
Other: Since the campus is situated in the heart of Chennai City, travel is very convenient. The railway station, metro, and bus stand are all easily accessible. Campus events for extracurricular activities are not common. The hostel has to be improved.

The course provided are good but, situated in rural area, you can get only limited facilities.
Placements: There is no placement within the campus. But there are many job opportunities outside. You can write government exams for veterinary assistance service after completing UG and if you clear it, you can get a government job at the age of 24. So you can take the course BVSC & AH wholeheartedly.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college and hostel both are good but the hostel maintenance is poor. The quality of the food is not so poor. Somedays, the food may not be good but most of the days, the food is good. Non-vegetarian food is provided every day. The mess charge is high around Rs.5000 per month.
Faculty: In our college, we have well-experienced professors who are friendly with students. Most of the staff members studied at MVSC. They are good at teaching tough topics clearly. You cannot expect every staff to be friendly. Some of them are strict. So you have to adjust with the course teachers.

The overall fee structure for UG programs at TANUVAS ranges from ?21,415 to ?25,000 per year, while VCRIT may be slightly lower, potentially falling within the range of ?18,000 to ?22,000 per year for the B.V.Sc. (Hons.) program. Additional costs such as hostel accommodation, mess fees, examination fees, laboratory fees, and study materials may also apply. Living expenses, such as travel and personal needs, may be higher in Chennai compared to Thanjavur. FAQs

Q:   What is the selection process for B.V.Sc. & AH and what is the minimum 12th class percentage required?

A:

Merit-based admission is usually used in the Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & AH) selection process. As previously stated, applicants must have received at least a 50% grade from a recognised board in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English in their 10+2 or equivalent exams. This educational background guarantees a grounding in the subjects pertinent to veterinary studies. The performance of the applicant in the 10+2 exams is the main factor used to determine admission. Gaining admission to the programme is more likely with a higher percentage, especially above the minimum. However, additional entrance exams or interviews might be required by certain institutions as part of their selection process. It is noteworthy that admission policies for the BVSc AH course may differ amongst universities or colleges. Prospective students should carefully review the admission requirements of the specific universities they plan to apply to.Although a minimum of 50% is generally required for 12th class enrollment, candidates with higher percentages are frequently given preference during the competitive admissions process.
