Q:   Is M.Sc. at Tripura University worth the investment?

    A:
    {Source: M.Sc. students & alumni}

While reviewing the feedback from current and former students, we've identified some key aspects to consider when deciding whether the M.Sc. programme at Tripura University is worthwhile:

    * Placement Opportunities: The university's placement record is relatively low, with around 50-60% of students securing placements. The average salary package ranges from INR2-INR6 Lacs per annum.
    * Faculty Quality: Most faculty members are highly educated and efficient, offering strong support to students. However, the teaching quality is average, and some teachers may not provide exam-oriented notes.
    * Infrastructure: The university has good infrastructure, including equipped labs, a library, and basic amenities like Wi-Fi and laundry services.
    * Scholarship Availability: Scholarships are available according to the National Scholarship Portal rules, but details on eligibility criteria are scarce.
    * Campus Life: Extracurricular activities are held on campus, but there's scope for improvement in terms of recreational facilities.

    Key Points to Consider:

    * Average placement rates: 50-60%
    * Salary packages: INR2-INR6 Lacs per annum
    * Faculty quality: mostly highly educated and efficient, but average teaching quality

Q:   What is the effectiveness of the placement cell for M.Sc. programs at Tripura University?

    A:

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for M.Sc. Programs at Tripura University

Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, here is a summary of the effectiveness of the placement cell for M.Sc. programs at Tripura University:

    * Limited Placements: While the placement cell exists, its effectiveness seems to be limited. Only around 20% of students managed to secure placements through the cell during one period.
    * Average Package: For those who did manage to secure placements, the average package offered was 20%.
    * Students Find Ways to Earn Money: Since the college does not provide placements, students often find alternative ways to earn money after graduation.

Overall, while the placement cell may exist, its impact appears to be minimal, and students often rely on their own efforts to secure employment after completing their M.Sc. programme at Tripura University.

I chose botany because I like trees and environment.
Placements: College provides good internships in association with top companies. Internships are also a part of the curriculum, which every student should do it, which provides more knowledge and industrial experience. Placements are quite good with 85% of students getting placed every year. The average salary package varies from 4.5 LPA to 5 LPA. It provides good placements in top MNCs like Amazon, Accenture, and TCS.
Infrastructure: Holy Cross College organizes many events such as Tejas, dancing competitions, poem writing competitions, poster writing competitions, singing competitions, debates, and many more. It also organizes sports events for students as well as for faculty members so that we can be physically and mentally active.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified with M.Tech and PhDs. They interact very well with students motivate students to work hard and give more confidence to everyone. This college is mainly known for its discipline and takes action very quickly.

It maintains discipline and encourages us to participate.
Placements: From the 5th semester, students become eligible for campus placements. Companies like Accenture and TCS have visited and made around 150 offers. The highest package was 9 LPA, and the average package was 4.5 LPA. 50% of students get placed. I plan on going through the CAT examination, but I'll also sit for campus placements.
Infrastructure: Annual sports day is typically held at the end of every year, and there are more than 30,000 books available in the library. They provide a fan, a smart board in the classroom, and AC and PCs in the library. Too many sports are available on campus, like outdoor and indoor, and they provide us NCC campus for students who are really interested There are NCC and NSS groups of students, and there is a club of mental health well-being.
Faculty: The faculty-to-student ratio is really bad. I mean sometimes there is no one to substitute for an absent professor, but the professors present are approachable, and the overall faculty-student relationship is good. I won't take any names. There are 4 exams overall, which are class test 1, class test 2, model examination, and, at last, the semester examination. The course curriculum is really great; out of every 50 students, I think 3-4 students fail in a subject.

    Affordable and good teaching.
Placements: The overall statistics for this batch are around sixty to seventy percent. For this course, generally, research-oriented organizations, environmental agencies, and a few NGOs are the top recruiters who come for both internship and placement opportunities.
Infrastructure: The department has good infrastructure with equipped labs for research like fish ecology and genetics. There is a good collection of scientific resources and various other relevant databases in the library. Basic amenities like Wi-Fi and laundry services are available.
Faculty: The curriculum is designed in such a way that emphasis is given to both theoretical knowledge development and practical skill creation by conducting various lab sessions and a few fieldwork activities. The faculty's teaching quality is good.

A college with a good environment, atmosphere, and friendly teachers.
Placements: There are better opportunities in this college. We can get guaranteed campus placements. Students can trust. They should do hard work for placements, then at the end of the fourth semester, the river will run. Students get placements. Many companies visit the college. Around 15 students got placed at Inncircles in the last month with a salary package of 10 LPA. Cisco offered a salary package of 19 LPA - 23 LPA. Tech Mahindra, and many companies visited our college.
Infrastructure: Our library has everything that students need to prepare for their academics and gain extra knowledge. It has tons of books. We have a smart board in every class, so it's very interesting.
Faculty: The faculty-to-student ratio is quite good. Faculty members are very social with students. They give good advice about what to do next in the semester. The dean of the college is very good. He teaches students engineering and physics. He has researched microprocessor technology. His name is Satendra Singh Chauhan. Manoj Bandil is a very rude teacher and always tries to prove wrong in students. In the semester, there are 4 exams. Three of them are mid-semesters, which are moderate. The final semester exams are quite tough.
Other: A fest named Tejas is held in February. Our college conducts a lot of extracurricular activities from annual sports day to national sports day. There is a student council to look at all student matters in the college.

I like the infrastructure of our university and the cleanliness maintained on the campus.
Placements: From the 7th semester, students are eligible for the placement drive. Inmovido, LearnNex, Infosys, TCS, etc., visit our college. Around 120 out of 100 students get selected for companies to earn money, buy a car, build a house, etc. Companies like Internshala, Tools Room Training Center, etc., visit our college and offer online or offline internships.
Infrastructure: There are not many social groups available, but students have been united. Classrooms are well-lit. They have fans. The cleanliness is always maintained. Libraries are accessible (incl. OPAC).
Faculty: Faculty members are good and well-educated. Their relationship with students is friendly. The IMD, physics, and philosophy departments faculty members are the best and most friendly. There are internal and external exams every semester. Exams are average.
Other: Our college conducts co-curricular and extra-curricular activities every two to three months. Festivals celebrated in harmony.

    Need some improvement in college.
Placements: The rate of placement is relatively low, approximately 50-60%. The highest package offered is 6 LPA, while the lowest is 2 LPA. On average, the placement rate stands at 3 LPA. Prominent recruiters in this field include ITC, Bayer, and Syngenta. Around 30% of students have secured internships with esteemed organizations such as WWF and TERI. Some of the top roles pursued by graduates include Botanist and Research Associate.
Infrastructure: The facilities provided for my course at Tripura University are acceptable, featuring average laboratories, classrooms, and a library. The hostel facilities are basic, but there is room for improvement in terms of the quality of food in the mess and canteen. The medical facilities are sufficient, while the sports facilities are somewhat limited.
Faculty: Teachers possess a moderate level of helpfulness and qualification. The teaching quality is average, while the curriculum is somewhat relevant but lacks a focus on industry requirements. The semester exams present a moderate level of challenge, with a pass percentage of approximately 65%. It is worth noting that some teachers do not provide exam-oriented notes, which can be beneficial for students.
