Q:   How successful is the placement cell in securing jobs for M.Sc. students at Calicut University?

    A:
    {Source: M.Sc. students & alumni}

Success Rate of Placement Cell for M.Sc. Students

Based on the reviews and feedback from students, here's what emerges:

    * Limited Information: Unfortunately, there isn't much specific information available about the placement cell for M.Sc. students at Calicut University.
    * No Clear Success Metrics: Unlike other departments, the psychology department doesn't seem to have a functioning placement cell, making it difficult to assess their success rate.

However, we can infer some general trends from the reviews:

    * Multinational Companies Visit Other Departments: Reviews suggest that other departments may receive visits from multinational companies such as E&Y, P&G, and KPMG for campus placements, indicating potential job opportunities for students.

    Conclusion

While there isn't enough specific information about the placement cell for M.Sc. students, it appears that the university may offer limited job prospects for these students. However, other departments within the university might have more promising job opportunities due to the presence of multinational companies.

Christ college is the best college.
Placements: Placement interviews are held at the end of the seventh semester. Students having a CGPA of 7 and above are eligible for sitting in placements. The highest package in my course goes around 30 LPA, while the average is 9 LPA. Mostly all the students who sit in placements get one.
Infrastructure: Yes, I have opted for a hostel, but due to the lack of hostel rooms, we do face a lot of issues, like my hostel room is designed for a single person, but two people are accommodated in it; we have a single cupboard and a single table too, which does create a lot of issues. B.Tech students and girls are the top priority people, while the location of hostels, which is done at the time of admission, like I got a mail.
Faculty: The course curriculum is really good. The syllabus is relevant and beneficial for the students who prepare for competitive exams like CSIR NET. Practical work mentioned in the syllabus is also updated in terms of today's research ideas, but the department lacks necessary lab work; they do not have proper lab facilities.

Academics and the teachers are so good and helpful.
Placements: Internship opportunities start from the second year itself for the students, and many of them join in the third year also. Students do many projects which help in preparing their resume for the job interview. Internships also play a major role in interviews, which are given the most importance in this college.
Infrastructure: St. Thomas is blessed with a huge campus with all the facilities like a store, gym (both indoor and outdoor), and swimming pool. The college is known for achievements in sports and arts too. We also have 2 auditoriums and one indoor stadium. The college is full of tree shades and the ambiance is beautiful. The college also avails well-equipped lab facilities, conference halls, a church, and a canteen that offers good food at a reasonable rate. The library is very vast and you can find a good number of books; in fact, I would say it is one of the best libraries. A women’s cell is also present.
Faculty: The faculty-to-student ratio is good as we can find lecturers whenever required. The faculty members communicate with students very politely and they make the communication interactive. Each semester has two internal assignment exams and the final semester exam. Almost 95 to 98% of students clear the exam and a few fail to do so. The subjects will be related to the course you have opted for.

    Good college for masters!
Placements: There are placements in our college but not very good. No MNCs or top industries arrived at our college during the placement session. The average salary package was around 4 LPA, which was not decent. The course makes us industry-ready, but we have to search for off-campus placements. Only 20-30% of the students got placed in the placement session.
Infrastructure: The college is big and beautiful. The classrooms are maintained with necessary elements. Labs are fully equipped. The hostels are near to the college within walking distance, so the students do not have to worry about going to classes. There are many clubs in our college which any student can join according to their interest.
Faculty: I have done my UG in Chemistry, so I chose Masters in Chemistry. The faculty members in the Chemistry department are friendly and very supportive. They have their unique teaching methods which helped us a lot in our studies. Exams are quite difficult to pass, but if you study hard, you can easily pass the examinations.

Placements: This course doesn't offer good placement offers from any colleges in India. The main reason was this was an academic course. Students can appear in competitive exams for government jobs. Few students from our course got Internship offers from different education and research institutions.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure available for our course were good. Our college has all essential facilities for our course needed. Library Facility was also in the college. Basic Medical Facilities were available in the college like a first aid kit. Limited sports facilities.
Faculty: Our College has great faculty members who have so much experience in their respective fields of research. Academics of our college were excellent. Course curriculum was relevant. Students prepare for UGC NET by themselves, some teachers help us. Semester examination depends on the student's preparation.

The highest package offered was 12 LPA and the Average Package was around 4 - 6 LPA. Top Roles offered were assistant professor, assistant engineer, assistant scientist, etc.
Infrastructure: Our college has good infrastructure and facilities for our course. Our college has all the required equipment and amenities for an electronics course. The college has a library facility available. Labs for electronic subjects were also available.
Faculty: Academics of our college were very good. The teaching faculty of our college was very qualified, knowledgeable, and experienced in their respective fields. The course curriculum was relevant and according to UGC guidelines. Semester exams were not too easy.
