Calicut University BTech Courses & Fees 2025: Placement, Cutoff, Admission, & Eligibility

Calicut University provides lateral entry admission to students who have completed a Diploma in Engineering or Technology from a recognised institution. Lateral entry is the process of enrolling directly into the second year (or 3rd semester) of a four-year BTech degree programme, allowing students who have completed a Diploma to finish their BTech degree in three years instead of four. This option is available in all five specialisations - Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical, Printing Technology, and Information Technology. The admission process for lateral entry is based on the candidate's Diploma score and the availability of seats in the relevant specialisation.

To gain admission into the BTech course at Calicut University, candidates are required to pass either the Joint Entrance Examination Main or the Kerala Engineering, Agriculture and Medical (KEAM) entrance exam. These exams are conducted annually and assess candidates' aptitude and knowledge in mathematics, physics, and chemistry. The JEE Main is a national-level exam, while the KEAM exam is conducted at the state level. Qualifying in either of these exams is mandatory to secure admission to the BTech course at Calicut University. The selection process is based on the candidate's exam score, and admission is granted on a merit basis.

BTech is offered in five specialisations at Calicut University i.e., Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical, Printing Technology and Information Technology. To be eligible for the Bachelor of Technology BTech programme in any of these five specialisations at Calicut University, candidates must have a minimum of 50% in their Bachelor's degree. Once the eligibility criteria are met, candidates can apply for admission to their desired programme.
