There is a separate hostel for international students at the University of Mumbai.

The University of Mumbai has 4 girls' hostels and 2 boys' hostels. Every hostel has both standard and modern amenities, like water purifiers, well-furnished rooms, common areas, leisure areas, mess areas, TVs, laundry services, Wi-Fi connectivity, study table, chairs, shoe rack, 24/7 electricity, proper ventilation, a watercooler along with water purifier, garden, televisions, geysers, newspapers, mess areas, gyms, and security systems. Hostel rooms are quite big and have a good mess facility. There is a separate hostel for international students.

After completion of the course, hostellers will get a refund of INR 3,000 of mess advance and INR 1,000 of caution money. The mess advance fee is refunded once the course is completed.

The Jugonnath Sunkersett Hall hostel located at Church gate (West) off Marine Drive provides accommodation to 178 students. It is a ground-plus five-storeyed building and has 46 triple-seated rooms and 40 single-seated rooms. The hostel also has three guest rooms with three beds each for the parents of the students and other university or college officials.

  • Hostels: The University of Mumbai has 4 boys’ hostels and 3 girls’ hostels. Common Rules and Regulations of all the Hostels of the University of Mumbai     

Disciplinary Rules

1. All the residents of the hostel should see that there is no waste of water, electricity and other facilities or common utilities provided to them.

2. Students will not play loud music or make noise that annoys their neighbours or other people.

3. Before leaving the room, turn off the lights and the fans. Failures will incur a fee.

4. The use of electrical heating appliances and cooking in the rooms is strictly prohibited due to the safety requirements of the hostel.

5. The cost of damage, (if any) caused due to the electrical installations, furniture etc. in the room or to any of the parts of the hostel premises will be recovered by the student concerned.

6. Storage and consumption of alcoholic drinks/drugs/narcotics in the hostel premises are strictly prohibited. Anyone found indulging in these will be expelled instantly from the hostel and could be handed over to the police.

7. Smoking inside the hostel premises is strictly prohibited. If found doing so, disciplinary action will be taken.

8. No student can remain absent from the hostel between 10.00 PM and 6.00 AM without prior permission/intimation from the Warden. The hostel gate will be closed at 12.00 midnight every day. The time limit for the late pass for the girls' hostellers is 11.30 PM and the gate should be closed by sharp 12.00 midnight.

9.  Maximum two late passes & 5 night outpasses for the girl students are allowed. Every student should inform the proper address and telephone no. of the place where she/he wants to stay the night out prior to permission.

10. Students who are expected to remain absent from the hostel for 10 days or more should fill in the gate pass and ensure that it is signed by the concerned authority before their departure.

11. If the student loses the duplicate key of the room, then he/she must replace the room lock.

12. If any student is found to be misbehaving in the hostel the same shall be communicated to the Head of the Department by the Hostel Regulatory Disciplinary Committee (HRDC).

13. No. student can speak directly to the media/police, nor shall they allow them to visit the premises of the hostel.

14. Complaints to the VC/PVC/Registrar & Police Department must be submitted through the warden.

15. There shall be a five-member body of students nominated by HRDC, for liaison between students and administration.

FEES (except International Student's Hostel) -1. The students need to pay the fees on prescribed due dates every year at the time of taking admission only. Defaulters need to pay INR 5 per day late fee for the next fifteen days. Thereafter, the hostel admission will be cancelled.
