No general onboarding of undergraduates at IIT Delhi
IIT Delhi junks media reports claiming students are finally returning to the campus and clarifies that only those who need to use the campus infra as part of their course have been called back.
After some media reports claimed that onboarding of undergraduates had started at IIT Delhi, the institute clarified that no general onboarding of undergraduate students was being undertaken at IIT Delhi currently, nor any decision in this regard had been taken by the institute.
A press note issued by IIT Delhi read some of the students permitted were those who had a project component or some such pressing academic requirements, which required them to be on the campus to access laboratories, central research facilities and library.
It further read, “Teaching has been going on in the institute in online mode since the start of the pandemic situation. Any further decision regarding onboarding of the students will be taken by the institute based on the COVID-19 situation.”
IIT Kanpur plans to allow PG students to campus with strict COVID protocols
A student, who is pursuing MTech from the Electrical Engineering Department, IIT Kanpur, on the condition of anonymity said, “IIT Kanpur is planning to allow only postgraduate students who are willing to return to the campus and that too in a phased manner. It has been mentioned that all students will have to undergo quarantine. RT-PCR tests will be conducted around 6-8 days of the quarantine period. After the completion of the quarantine period, the students tested negative will then proceed to their respective rooms in hostels and those tested positive will go to a dedicated COVID hospital. The students have also been asked to carry five cloth masks, sanitiser, utensils, thermometer, pluse oximeter, electric kettle and bedsheets along with them while returning to the campus.”
