Read below for more details on CSIR UGC NET 2024 exam such as CSIR NET Eligibility, important dates, exam pattern, syllabus, result, cut off, FAQs, etc.

Q:   How many marks are required to qualify for the CSIR NET 2024 exam?

A:

To pass the CSIR NET 2024 exam, candidates are required to score a minimum of 33 percent in the general, EWS, and OBC categories and 25 percent in the SC, ST, and PwD categories, or both fellowship and Lectureship/Assistant Professor.

Q:   Is it mandatory to appear for all three parts of the CSIR NET exam?

A:
No, it is not mandatory to appear for all three parts of the CSIR NET exam. The three parts of the exam are: Part A: This part consists of General Aptitude questions, which are common to all subjects. It is compulsory for all candidates to attempt this part. Part B: This part consists of subject-related multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The number of questions and the total marks for this part vary depending on the subject. Part C: This part consists of higher value questions, which are designed to test the candidates' knowledge of scientific concepts and their ability to analyze and apply them. This part also varies in terms of the number of questions and total marks for each subject. Candidates can choose to appear for only Part A and Part B, or for all three parts of the exam, depending on their preference. However, candidates who wish to be considered for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) must appear for all three parts of the exam and secure the minimum qualifying marks in each part as per the CSIR NET eligibility criteria. Candidates who qualify for Lectureship (LS) are not required to appear for Part C of the exam.

Q:   How many attempts are allowed in CSIR NET exam?

A:

There is no limit on the number of attempts for the CSIR NET (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research National Eligibility Test) exam. A candidate can appear for the exam as many times as they wish, provided they fulfil the eligibility criteria. However, it's important to note that the validity of the CSIR NET scorecard is only for two years from the date of the result declaration.

Therefore, if a candidate wants to use their CSIR NET score for a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or lectureship, they must apply for these positions within the validity period of the scorecard. It's also important to note that the CSIR NET exam is conducted twice a year, usually in June and December. Therefore, the candidates have two opportunities each year to appear for the exam and improve their scores.
