Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   How is the overall infrastructure of Bangalore Institute of Technology?

A:
{Source: B.Tech students & alumni]

Bangalore Institute of Technology has a moderate academic schedule with 5-15 lectures per week, and semester-based exams. The teaching methodology focuses on textbook-based lectures and case studies, with easy exam preparation. The college has a well-stocked library and provides research resources for students. Security measures include guards and CCTV cameras, and outsiders cannot enter the campus without permission. The college strictly prohibits ragging and has a zero tolerance policy towards it.

Based on the reviews provided, the overall infrastructure of the college appears to be mixed. Some reviewers have reported poor infrastructure, including old classrooms and hostels, lack of Wi-Fi and dirty washrooms. However, other reviewers have had a more positive experience, mentioning good hostel accommodations, healthy food and well-maintained facilities such as the library.

It seems that some areas of the college may require improvement, particularly in terms of providing better internet access and upgrading certain facilities to meet modern standards. On the other hand, the college has made efforts to provide clean and healthy living conditions for its students, which is appreciated by some reviewers.

Overall, the quality of infrastructure at the college appears to vary depending on the specific facility or area. It is important for prospective students to carefully research and evaluate the college's infrastructure before making a decision.

The placements are likely very good in this college where the majority of the companies come here like Oracle, Dell, Wipro, Infosys, etc.

Good placements, internships, crowd and support.
Placements: From the good batches, a good percentage of people get placed; just keep yourself updated with the job market. The highest package as of last year from a student was 57 LPA. Internship opportunities on campus begin at the end of the 2nd year itself, where companies like Dell, Fidelity, etc. interview students for internships. These internships go on through the 3rd year.
Infrastructure: One of the few downsides of BIT is just its campus, but nonetheless, all the necessary facilities are present; you won't lack any facilities related to academics. You have a huge library with multiple books covering all the curriculum; classrooms have natural light and are ventilated. There are multiple canteens surrounding the canteens, whether it be for a light snack or a heavy meal. You get all at reasonable, cheap prices as well.
Faculty: Of course all colleges have their good and bad teachers; BIT is no exception. But all teachers are highly qualified and have sufficient teaching experience. There are additional skill lab facilities provided that help make students industry-ready. Curriculum is VTU affiliated. The papers are moderately difficult; it also depends on the subject. But if you have studied fairly well, you can do well. Pass percentage is relatively high.
Other: The best thing about BIT is definitely its placement, which at the end of the day is what matters the most. The crowd and synergy of the students are pretty good. You get a lot of support and help from seniors as well. Lots of guidance is provided to students, whether it be from students or teachers, to help students become job-ready.

Faculty is okay, Placements are good and Infrastructure leaves a lot to be desired.
Placements: I joined because I heard there is 100% placement in this college. However, since joining the placements have gone down quite a bit. The placements are still decent, though I don't what percentage of people have been placed. The highest package is given by Google at 58 LPA. The average package is 8 LPA.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are good. They are putting in new benches and each classroom has a projector. Labs all have functional systems. There are many libraries in the college, including departmental libraries for each department. The campus is a little small. Wi-Fi is not reliable.
Faculty: Most teachers are quite knowledgeable and helpful. The curriculum is set by VTU and has a variety of subjects, both technical and general knowledge subjects. Semester exams are of standard difficulty and the passing percentage is 35% (18 out of 50 marks).
Other: I chose this course for its future scope and it's relatively easy (Computer Science is quite an easy course). The campus, despite being small, is surrounded by a buzzing area. The crowd is also very welcoming.

Placements are not up to the mark for what they are charging, though.
Placements: Placements are not up to the mark, maybe due to the recession. You cannot completely rely on the college for placements; off-campus placements are better. If a company is offering a good package, then the number of students selected is less. An 8 CGPA or above is required.
Infrastructure: There is just one building; labs and classrooms are well maintained, and cleanliness is good. The ladies' hostel is 5 km away, but they do provide buses for daily commutes. The boys' hostel is on campus, but the mess hygiene is not good. All other facilities are available, and metro connectivity is accessible.
Faculty: The faculties are really good and invest their time in your development, but attendance can be an issue. Some branches are lenient, but others are strict about it; still, 60% attendance works everywhere. Semester exams are not very difficult; 2-3 days of preparation is more than enough.

Reduced placements in 2024.
Placements: Coming to the placements, this college is usually very good in terms of placements, but this year, unluckily, due to the bad job market, fewer students were placed compared to the previous year. The highest package offered was around 22 LPA by F5. The average package comes to around 4-5 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of this college is pretty small compared to other colleges. They have well-maintained labs available. There is a library where you can get a variety of books. The internet connection is bad in most of the classes. The classrooms are also neat and well-maintained.
Faculty: The teachers are all well-qualified, though there might be some who are less knowledgeable. They are readily available to clear your doubts. The course curriculum, when I studied, was a bit outdated, but now they have changed the college to autonomous, which will update the curriculum to make the students industry-ready. The semester exams are manageable if you study the previous year's papers and important questions. You need a minimum of 40 marks out of 100 to pass the exam (internal + external).

Decent placements, and below average curriculum .
Placements: SDE roles offered at Cisco, Phonepe and F5 are all above 20 LPA. Many companies offer between 7 and 12 LPAs, including Impress, Oracle, and Eurofins. The number of companies has fallen this year but is expected to pick up in the next placement season, though not to COVID levels.
Infrastructure: There is Wi-Fi in labs and libraries; most classrooms are spacious and not congested; hostels are above average but as they are in the center of the city, their price is high; sports and games are not encouraged; but anyone with interest and talent is given complete flexibility to pursue their sport.
Faculty: Some teachers are kind and helpful; the attendance policy is not very bad; people are considerate but strict; the curriculum of VTU is very irrelevant; however, as the college has gained autonomous status, it is expected to change; it feels like a little price given the learning.
