Entirely a government college so who cannot afford money for private colleges can take admission.
Placements: As this college started in 2016 i.e. not old so, placements were not good. But some famous companies like TCS, Mahindra, L&T, etc., visited to hire students. Percentage of placements will be 30%. The highest salary package offered was 8 LPA. The lowest salary package offered was 2 LPA. Around 10% of students got internships.
Infrastructure: College infrastructure was not good. Classrooms were not good. Wi-Fi was available in classrooms but speed was very slow. Library was also very big but collection of books was not so much. Hostels were in good condition. Food quality was very good.
Faculty: Professors were very much helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. They always support students in every situation. Teaching quality of professors was also very good. Semester exams were conducted smoothly, and question papers were from MAKAUT University.
Other: I chose this college because it's a fully government engineering college. Events, fests, and all types of functions were conducted by collecting amounts from students every year.

Cooch Behar Government Engineering College (CGEC) is a prominent public technical.
Placements: The college has made efforts in improving its placement record, with companies from various sectors like IT, core engineering, and manufacturing visiting the campus. However, the placement numbers are not as high as those of more established institutions. While many students are placed in decent roles, there is room for improvement in terms of industry partnerships and overall placement support.
Infrastructure: The college is situated in a sprawling campus with good infrastructure. The classrooms are well-equipped with modern teaching aids, and the laboratories are designed to provide hands-on experience. The campus also offers amenities like hostels, a library with a wide range of books and journals, a computer center, and sports facilities. However, while the infrastructure is improving, it still requires upgrades in certain areas, such as better internet connectivity and more advanced laboratory equipment.
Faculty: The college emphasizes a well-rounded student experience. Various clubs and student organizations focus on cultural activities, technical innovation, and sports. Events like workshops, seminars, and technical festivals are regularly organized, giving students the opportunity to learn beyond their academic syllabus.
Other: Cooch Behar Government Engineering College is a solid choice for students looking for an affordable and good-quality engineering education, especially for those hailing from the northeastern part of India. With growing infrastructure, a dedicated faculty, and increasing industry links, it is steadily working towards improving its standing in the academic and professional world. However, prospective students should be prepared for certain challenges that come with studying at a relatively young institution.

CGEC review by 2024 batch (CSE).
Placements: The college is very poor if you consider on-campus placement. In 2024, not a single company visited our campus. But many students get placed off-campus. The highest package in our batch was 9 LPA, and the average was 3-4 LPA. 10-15 students got off-campus placement out of 62 students.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college was not so good because it's a new college. An efficient amount of classrooms are there. There is only one library, but there are no relevant books in that. The canteen is present on campus but has been close since 2-3 years.
Faculty: Faculty is average. The course curriculum is outdated and needs improvement according to recent technology. There are 4 CA exams in which you can score easily and a final semester exam. You can easily get good marks in these semester exams if you study well for 7 days before the exam.

Perfect college in West Bengal.
Placements: Top companies like Cognizent, Teachnook, and L&T come to our college for recruiting. Their average salary offer is around 5 LPA, with the highest being 12 LPA and the lowest being 2.1 LPA. Our college has a very hard-working Training and Placement Office (TPO) that helps students get jobs. Every year, around 80% of our students get jobs on campus.
Infrastructure: The campus has full wifi. The classrooms are spacious and have projectors and blackboards. The labs are also spacious, and all the systems work properly. The hostel rooms are large, and there are 22 washrooms on each floor. There is no ragging, and the mess food is good.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and supportive. They are also very knowledgeable and qualified. Their teaching quality is very impacting. They complete the syllabus 1-2 months before the exam. Our college is affiliated with Makaut University. There are four CA exams and two semesters.

A Raising Institute - CGEC.
Placements: Placement-wise, CGEC is decent because it is a new college (founded in 2016). Many companies like TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, Infosys, etc., are the main recruiters for on-campus placements. Placement for non-core branches like ECE and CSE are getting higher packages, but placement for core branches is not as good compared to non-core branches. However, the placement for 2024 is poor, with only a few students getting placed in good companies and securing decent packages. Some students are studying for higher exams like GATE and have obtained very good packages through off-campus placements. The highest off-campus placement was 21 LPA.
Infrastructure: It is currently in the developing stage, with ongoing improvements in infrastructure and placements. The location of the college is very beautiful. Overall, the infrastructure of the college is nicely built. The hostel is not available for 1st to 3rd-year students, but according to college authorities, it will be available soon for all year students. Seven years have already passed, but no one knows when 1st to 3rd-year students will get their hostels.
Faculty: The faculty at CGEC consists of a mix of experienced and young educators. Many of them hold advanced degrees and are committed to providing quality education. However, there can be variations in the teaching standards across different departments. The Heads of Departments (HODs) are very helpful and cooperative. If you have any doubts, they will help you as much as they can to solve them. However, the number of teachers for some subjects is very low, and there is little pressure from classes because a low number of classes are held throughout the semester. This situation is both bad and good for students: it reduces the pressure of 75% attendance but also allows more time for preparing for higher examinations.
Other: Currently, I am pursuing a Computer Science & Engineering degree from CGEC and I am a 2nd-year student. I chose this stream because I love coding and, of course, every student wants placement, and everyone knows that nowadays, the placement of the CSE branch is much higher than for other branches. So, that was the main reason behind my choice of this branch. The campus is in the middle of nowhere, but there is a town nearby. However, the campus itself is beautiful and is filled with greenery. The scenic beauty of nature here is absolutely breathtaking. The Torsa River flows beside the campus, and the beauty of the river is breathtaking. CGEC has many clubs: for dance, there is Nirtyanirvanya; for confident speaking, there are PepTalks; and for singing, there is Melodies of CGEC. It also has its own sports club, which has been very active from the beginning.

There is an outside chance that you may get Computer Science and Engineering in Coochbehar Government College through your JELET SC rank, provided the college have vacant seat in CSE department.
