IISER Bhopal offers three admission channels: SCB (state central board), KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana), and IIT JEE Advanced for admission to the BS and BS-MS (Dual Degree) programmes. Based on the category rank list that is acquired from KVPY, a common rank list is generated for candidates who apply through the KVPY channel, giving equal weight to SX, SA, and SB. The JEE (Advanced) category rank list determines the candidates' assignments when they apply through the JEE channel. For applicants using the SCB channel, a Common Merit List (CML) and a category-wise merit list of candidates are created. IISER Bhopal with 70% in class 12th is also possible.

Earlier there were three channels through which candidates could get admissions to the courses offered at IISER institutions, IISc Bangalore and IIT Madras. From the academic session 2025, admissions were made through the IAT exam channel only, and the other two channels were discontinued. Since the IISER Entrance Exam 2025, admission is conducted only based on the exam scores. 

Yes, it is possible to get admission to IISER through IISER entrance exam. IISER Entrance exam is conducted by the institute for candidates seeking admission to the BS and Integrated BS specialisations. The cutoff is released category-wise for candidates belonging to the All India quota. IISER Bhopal is one of the best options to pursue BSc. It has great faculty that is always there to guide students. Infrasturcture at the college is great, with state of the art laboratories, a library with large collecion of books on different subjects. Students and especially, seniors are really great when it comes to proper guidance. IISER Bhopal has connections to most of the big research firms, helping students to secure good internships and placement.

For candidates from General Category, one needs atleast 60% in 12th grade and for SC/ST/OBC, it is 55% aggregate score in 12th grade.

Yes, anyone who scored atleast 60% in 12th grade is eligible to get admission in IISER Bhopal, as long as candidate has studied atleast three of the following subjects in 12th grade, i.e. Pysics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology.

You also need to take one of the three exams, IAT, JEE Adv., KVPY.

The median package offered during BSc-MSc placements in 2022 increased by more than 18% in comparison to 2021.

Previously, five IISER Bhopal final-year students were chosen by Deloitte at IISER Bhopal placements 2022, according to data made public by IISER Bhopal. Additionally, as part of the IISER Bhopal summer internships 2022, a third-year BS student was chosen for a three-month summer internship at nuture.farm. In addition, four Indian Institute of Science Education & Research Bhopal students were chosen to participate in IISER internships in France in 2022.

The official announcement of the 2023 placement results is still pending. Previously, 13 of the 152 BSc grads were placed in 2022. In 2021, 3 BSc students were successfully placed out of 138 total. Thirteen BSc students were placed during IISER placements in 2022, according to the report. For BSc students, the median package was INR 11.40 LPA.

Since IISER Pune had 13 students selected for placement and IISER Bhopal has only 5 students. Therefore, IISER Pune offers better placements.
