IIT Guwahati is young, but it has a great potential. It is developing at a very good pace.

Placements: On an average, 70-80% students get on campus placements. It varies largely from branch to branch. Whereas branches like CSE, MnC and design have more than 90 % placements, branches like biotechnology, CST and EP are as low as 50% because of their research-oriented nature. Most of the placements are in coding, data analytics and corporate. In the recent years, placements in core have declined due to the new hiring policy of PSUs, but in 2017, many students from ECE, EEE and mechanical got core jo...

Placements: I am a final year Bachelor of Design student at IIT Guwahati. For those who are not aware, the department of design in IITG is one of the unique ones in the nation. An awesome environment, location and facilities.

Placements: Being in the senior year, I attended the last placement season held in December. Placements were pretty good. However, the number of startups were I think less than the previous year. The number of placements were nearly 100% for computer science and mathematics department, while it was somewhat lesser for other departments like mechanical or chemical. Finance related companies like Tower research and GS offered the highest packages.

Placements: The placement is good here. About 80% students got placed last year, with an average package of 10 lakhs PA. Last year, the maximum salary was 34 lakhs and the minimum was 5 lakhs. In core, PSUs like Coal India, ISRO, Oil India, ITC etc came last year and in non-core, many companies like Goldman Sachs came. The internship opportunity is quite good here, as companies like ITC came to the campus to offer the same.

IIT Guwahati is one of the best engineering colleges in India. It has a very beautiful campus. The campus life is amazing, with a lot of sports and co-curricular activities for the students. The only downfall is that the campus is pretty far off from the city and the city does not have much to offer, in comparison to cities like Mumbai, Delhi, etc. Most of the faculty members are excellent, both in teaching and in research. IIT-G has one of the most beautiful campuses which includes a few ponds and mountains. The quality of education and curriculum followed here is excellent. It has excellent sports facilities, the placement is good, and many of the leading industries prefer IIT-G for final placements. The hostels here are single occupancy with separate LAN connection.
