IIT Guwahati is one of the oldest IITs. It is famous for its greenery and beauty. It is vast with a lot of places to sit beside nature. Talking about the architecture, it has 10 boys’ hostel and 2 girls’ hostel for bachelors. There are separate accommodations for married scholars, faculty members and lab in charges. It offers B.Tech, M.tech, B.Des, M.Des, MSc and Ph.D. courses but no dual degree course is available. The faculty is very experienced and has a lot of knowledge in their respective f...

IIT Guwahati is the right mixture of old and new, with state of the art infrastructure and single hostel rooms for all students (How awesome is that?). IIT Guwahati had organised the Inter-IIT sports meet in 2014, so its sports facilities are pretty much as good as it gets (The state junior cricket teams practices in our cricket ground sometimes). You would find almost all the sports facilities you can think of in India; squash, swimming pool, badminton courts (both wooden and synthetic), tenn...

Speaking for the Electronics and Communications department, the professors are great and the research facilities are really good. The rigor is more on the theoretical side of the engineering, placing a base for understanding and further learning. However, like most other institutions, the curriculum is not practical focused but merely has a practical component in each course. While there are a lot of core and non-core companies which come to the campus, the location is a disadvantage. About the ...

IITG has been close to my heart since the day I entered the campus. It had everything starting with great Infrastructure to the banks of river Brahmaputra to good faculty. I met some amazing and talented people and got to learn a lot from them. It transformed my world view and put my thinking in global perspective. Apart from the positives, there are a few downsides. The hostel mess food was never up to the standard even after repeated complaints and student protests. The administrative complex...

It is one of the most beautiful campuses in India with a backdrop of river Brahmaputra. There are activities and events happening round the year engaging the student community. Even being a younger IIT, the work done by research labs is at par with the rest as evident by Journal City rankings and Younger University rankings. Due to the remote location of Guwahati city, the accessibility with rest of India is a bit difficult, though the city and the region are completely safe. Because of its ass...

IITG is easily one of the most beautiful campuses in India. It has excellent sports facilities (lawn tennis, basketball, and volleyball, atlectics-4 x 100 m, hockey, badminton, squash, football and table tennis courts, fully equipped gym and an Olympic standard swimming pool). Students are given single rooms in the hostels right from day one. Library, computer center and lecture halls of the academic complex are top notch. The faculty is world class and we also have a very strong alumni network....

Though it is an engineering college, with scopes of research, you will get ample opportunities to explore and develop your hobbies being a part of the different clubs here. You can test your management skills by being a part of its cultural or technical festivals, or maybe even organising various departmental events. The campus is very beautiful and sports facilities are also pretty good. The faculty-student interaction will depend on the faculty and your enthusiasm. The placements are very good...

Before knowing anything people think Guwahati is not safe because of Maoists, but this is a myth. This place is peaceful and much safer than any other north metropolitan city. Guwahati is very calm and beautiful place so is IIT Guwahati. Once you will go there, you will never want to come back. Everything is beautiful, hostels, lakes, infrastructure and everything. People are so helpful as well.

Four years at IIT Guwahati is like a holiday camp at most green and lush landscape. Mountains, lakes, thick vegetation cover, green land, blue sky and a mighty river flowing by the campus. Weather is soothing for most of the year, except few hot and humid months. It does not rain here, it pours! The campus has excellent sports facility. ‘Alcheringa’ and ‘Techniche’ are the annual cultural and technical festivals, respectively. I feel good to be here. This was started as an IIT so its functioning is quite well. It is one the most beautiful campuses in India. The work culture is superb, there is no restriction to work 24 X 7. All the teachers are young and supportive, except for some of them. There is only one problem, that the institute doesn’t have much funding to work beyond the limit. MHRD is deducting the money for research. They should provide sufficient funding to get good results also, and they should monitor ...

A wonderful college, with lots of exposure and experienced faculty members. Apart from being world-renowned for academics and quality of research papers published, has a lot of extra-curricular activities for students to work upon personality development. There is always an earnest drive to update the course structure to meet the demands of the industry.

I am satisfied with the academic curriculum and infrastructure.

Placements: In our college, placements were good for core companies but excellent for non-tech companies. Some students were placed in top companies. The salary package offered was 15 LPA. This branch was research-oriented and did not provide good placements. If you want to go to the academic section, it would be very helpful. Opportunities were provided for internships.
