My college IIT Kharagpur.
Placements: 83 percent of students in chemical engineering department are placed. The average package is about 20 LPA. Highest is 52 LPA and lowest is 10 LPA as per previous data and statistics. Google, ford, Shell, HSBC, Arpwood these are major recruiting in core finance and software. Most of the students are placed in core and non tech. And they got Pre placement offer. Most of the students got summer internships in Flipkart, Amazon, Arpwood etc. By chemical engineering department one can be Petroleum engineer, process engineer, food scientist and one can explore also non tech fields.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are well organized and fully air conditioned. There are projectors and screen for ppt presentation and teaching. There is central library in the campus which is one of the best for study. Hostel rooms are quite good and spacious. There is wifi facility in overall campus. The mess food is not so good but it is quite eatable. There is Gymkhana in campus where all sports facilities are available. There are many sports and cultural events takes places under Gymkhana.
Faculty: The teachers in IIT Kharagpur are very knowledgeable and experienced. They have very deep knowledge of their subjects. There are TAs which helps us in doubts and academics. Chemical engineering department makes students ready for chemical and industrial areas. We have mid semester, end semester and quizzes and tests. Among them end sems plays major role in CG and overall grades. End sems are quite tough.
Other: I am interested in chemical engineering. This course is quite less loaded as compared to other departments. One who have chemical engineering then he can also explore other stuffs and areas of tech and software. I think more relevance is given to software and tech as compared to core because there are more better options are possible in that. There are many fests and events takes place like spring fest is one of the largest cultural fest, kshitij is on of the largest tech. Fest of Asia. There are many scholarships like Merit cum means Scholarship for students and fee waiver is also there for students on the basis of their annual family income.

Really good college. I would love to grow through each semester.
Placements: Around 80% of them get placed on campus, and the remaining 20% usually get placed off campus. The highest package would be around 60 LPA, and the lowest can be as low as 7 LPA. The average would be around 22 LPA. Top companies like gas, oil, and semiconductors usually come for core branches. 70% of students get into internships; most of them go for tech, and some people get placed in Microsoft and Google also. It's a really broad spectrum course.
Infrastructure: All facilities are available; they are all in good condition; medical ones can be tricky because there is no proper treatment here; otherwise, all facilities are up to IIT level; some classrooms have AC; the library has AC rooms; and the library is really big, so you always find space, except during exams. There's so much crowd during exams, but you still find a place. Mess food depends on hall (hostel). In my first year, mess food was bad, but this year I got a different hall, and food is like home food.
Faculty: Teaching quality is really good; some professors are really nice, and some don't give a damn. The courses are relevant, exams are pretty easy if you study well, but if you don't, then it can be difficult to manage, and the pass percentage is pretty high. Some professors are cruel and will fail you for stupid reasons, and attendance is a pain here.
Other: Chose this college based on JEE rank; probably would change nothing; events and festivals and everything else are top notch.

Best college life outside the city filled with enjoyable moments and good placements.
Placements: The placements at IIT KGP are awesome. In chemical engineering, the average package offered was about 18 lakhs and the highest package was 66 lakhs CTC. Being a core engineering branch, chemical engineering offers many core jobs making it the best branch but also unmatched with CSE.
Infrastructure: The WiFi is overall good. In hostel, the mess food is not up to the mark. Night canteens are available and they are worthy. The sport facilities are good but you need to bring equipments all by yourself. The library is one of the biggest ones of the country with some part of it being air conditioned. There is a separate digital section for PC. The classrooms are good but they can't match those of IIT Bombay.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful. They are quite knowledgeable but they one may find it difficult to understand the Bengali accent of the professors. The first year curriculum is not that relevant but from second year onwards it is very much course driven. The semester exams are not that tough but you have to be well prepared for the papers.

IIT Kharagpur - unfiltered.
Placements: Around 65% of students got placed this season, mainly during this recession time. Apart from CSE, my branch saw around 50% getting selected for CDC internships. Starting from Google and Microsoft to TCS, various companies have participated in the placements. The most booming field is tech, with SDE being the most popular. Consultancy also plays a vital role for students interested in the management field.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite good and fascinating as per the standards of IIT. With a 2100-acre campus, there are tons of facilities, starting from sports to research laboratories. We are provided with superfast Wi-Fi in our dormitory, and Ethernet high-speed data cables have also been provided. The quality of food depends on the hall. RK Hall has the best food, whereas MMM has the lowest standard food.
Faculty: Faculty varies from department to department, but mostly all the professors are highly qualified and experienced in their respective fields. In my department, Chemical Engineering, most of the professors are quite supportive and friendly. However, the course curriculum is not very relevant to the current industry requirements.
Other: Campus life is the best. We have various fests, with Spring Fest and Kshitiz being the most popular. Honestly, as per my rank, I got this course, so I have chosen it. If more current technologies were involved in my course, it would be better. Sports facilities like table tennis and events with various business tycoons should be held regularly for a better effect on the students.

A comprehensive guide to IIT Kharagpur.
Placements: Most companies that come for recruiting are non-core companies. Among the best-paying ones are non-technical ones like consulting, products, finance, etc. for example JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Nomura, Boston Consultancy Group, etc. Tech Companies like investment banking, software, and quant have rare placements.
Infrastructure: Old hostel rooms are there in most halls. Fast Wi-Fi and LAN are available 24x7 with no limits. Mess food is not up to mark. Labs are top-notch, and so are classrooms with a dedicated audiovisual cell. Medical facilities are moderate with contractual doctors.
Faculty: Exams for semesters are held like High School Board exams. Faculty are sometimes too good and sometimes equally bad. Sometimes they teach too much more than what is required for the course. Some pros might as well be partial to some of the students and hold grudges.
Other: CGPA is the only thing you can change when you are on campus, so focus on that.
