Exploring excellence: Academic and innovation frontiers of IIT Madras.
Placements: In 2023-24, there were 445 offers and 407 PPOs including 15 international offers. Out of these, 25 offers were provided with a salary package of more than 1 crore per annum. More than 480 companies like Microsoft, Google, Oracle, Texas Instruments, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Samsung, Morgan Stanley, etc., visited the IIT Madras for placements. The average salary package offered is 22.31 LPA. About 778 internship offers are provided. Almost 90% of students got placed in our course and the remaining went to pursue higher studies and civil services. The salary packages offered range from 9-85 LPA. The top roles offered are SDE, IC design engineer, RF engineer, embedded programmer, etc.
Infrastructure: IIT M has 16 male hostels and 6 female hostels. Each hostel has a 24-hour hot water supply both for drinking and bathing. Each hostel is equipped with many sports facilities like badminton courts, table tennis, etc. For freshers, it has a triple-sharing room, and from the 2nd year onwards, it has double or single rooms. An air-conditioner facility is not provided. Each room has a high-speed LAN port. Classrooms have high-speed Wi-Fi and air-conditioners. EE department has a lot of research labs too.
Faculty: The student-to-faculty ratio is 1:10. The EE department has the highest number of faculty members in the institute and the most funded for research and innovation. Almost all professors in EE, have done their master's or PhD from the USA. The course curriculum is revised periodically, but even though there is a gap between academics and industry. Exams are tough and there is very high competition among students to get good grades.
Other: I have a great passion for the evolving field of the semiconductor industry. The freedom offered to students is comparable to other colleges. There is no entry or exit time for the hostel and for campus. Food courts and canteen are open almost 24x7. Every event, innovation club, placement, and campus welfare club is coordinated by a dedicated group of students who inculcate leadership skills.

Lucky to join here. Best environment to study with experience life.
Placements: This course is good, offering opportunities to shift to software roles as well as core fields. The average package offered is 10 LPA. Nearly 75% of students are placed, although the percentage might be higher. Maintaining a good CGPA ensures better placement opportunities.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi quality is good. The hostel provides adequate facilities with proper water supply and good food. The library has more than enough books to enhance knowledge. Labs are well-equipped, and students are provided with good sports facilities and encouragement to participate.
Faculty: Teachers are very good and supportive, encouraging students to study and explore opportunities. The course curriculum is relevant and helps students understand both the course and potential opportunities. The pass percentage varies depending on the difficulty of the paper and the professor's assessment.
Other: This is the best course in IITM. The flexibility to shift to software roles is a significant advantage. Events are organized regularly to encourage socializing among students. The campus is green, clean, and peaceful, offering a conducive environment for study. Students have the freedom to move out of campus and play at any time, with good sports equipment available.

I'm dissatisfied with the aerospace, but it has good campus life, challenges, and lessons for life.
Placements: According to the survey conducted, placements for graduates of Aerospace Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras are average, with the salary package offered was 18 LPA. However, based on my observation and experience as a student here, there were zero core placements for Aerospace graduates last year.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of our department is horrible with some ceilings falling off. The freshers' hostel is no less than a 5-star hotel, with all the facilities in it. Mess food is also nice, offering a wide variety of cuisines, with separate messes for North and South Indian menus. Wi-Fi is strong, and the libraries are very good, providing a great study environment.
Faculty: Some faculty members are good, while others are not as effective. Course curriculum is well-organized and student-friendly, with manageable pressure and minimal uneasiness. Faculty can be inconsistent, sometimes, they are good, and at other times, it may be difficult to keep up with them. Difficulty level increases with each semester, making it more challenging.

Best college both in research and opportunities. Well, best for a startup environment too.
Placements: 70-80% get placed, and others go for higher studies. A few opt for a dual degree in data science, which also usually gets placed. This year the highest was 66 LPA, the lowest was around 14 LPA, and the average has risen to 28 LPA. Core recruiters are like Vedanta, Tata Steel, JSW, and Applied Materials, but the above placement states stand for tech companies in which metallurgy students got placed. 20%, as during internship, the company has a choice and not compulsion. This year Finmechanics, Deutsche Bank, Wells Fargo, Jaguar, and a few more metallurgy students got internships.
Infrastructure: It's completely worth it, despite the hostels being not that good, but the other amenities provided by the college are extremely good. The labs and public places have full Wi-Fi, top-notch. You have to take personalized access through credentials, and you are being tracked all the time. Food in the mess is not that good compared to home, obviously.
Faculty: My course is a bit old. Currently, the trend is AI and ML, and our branch is less worth now. In the upcoming generation, metallurgy would rise in renewables POV. Yes, it covers the basics, and you have ample free time to learn coding and enjoy as well. I don't think only B.Tech is sufficient for being industry-ready. Those are pretty tough as a few professors keep open books and try to challenge students. Expect passing around 10-15%.
Other: Ample free time. Professors are helpful, and there is an immense network, so you could get an intern through their help. It's pretty good. Just let it be how it is. Extreme culture both in teaching, sports, and culturals.

Excellent placements, good infrastructure, decent faculty and best campus life.
Placements: Placements for the 2024-25 year are ongoing at IIT Madras, and the highest package offered so far is 4.3 crore INR. In 2023-24, 1612 students received offers from around 480 companies. The highest package was 1.31 crore INR, and the lowest was 5.4 LPA. Top recruiters included Apple, Google, Bajaj, Qualcomm, JP Morgan, and Texas Instruments. Top roles offered were software development engineer, data scientist, quant, and core engineer.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure are good. Labs have the necessary equipment, although some require replacement. Wi-Fi connectivity is good, especially in the library. Classrooms are nice, and many have AC installed. The library is excellent and well-stocked. The first-year hostel is very good, but the hostels for subsequent years are not as impressive. Hostels have amenities like washing machines, TV rooms, and water coolers. There are various mess options with good food quality. The on-campus hospital is excellent, and most medicines are provided free to students. Sports facilities are very good, with many options available.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and knowledgeable but their teaching quality could be better. Classes can be boring, and sometimes the material is difficult to understand, requiring independent study. Semester exams are not very tough and are easy to pass with sufficient preparation. As a first-year student, I cannot comment on the curriculum's relevance.
Other: I chose IIT Madras because it is the top-ranked institute according to NIRF and provides many opportunities and experiences beneficial for my career. Numerous events occur throughout the year, allowing students to explore different fields. The campus crowd is excellent, with many multi-talented individuals. Campus connectivity is good, and there are no issues with commuting. The institute offers a wide range of extracurricular activities and scholarships for students.

Placements: Very few people are not placed. Most of them get placed. There is a large alumni network to Insti. This year the highest salary package offered is 4.5 crore by Insti. If students are well prepared for interviews definitely they get placed in a company with good packages.
Infrastructure: Hostels have LAN facilities but do not institute Wi-Fi. Everywhere except hostels have institute Wi-Fi. Best quality of food is provided by messes. There is one stadium named Watsa for those who are interested in sports. Some indoor games are available to students in hostels.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, knowledgeable, and qualified. IIT Madras curriculum is best. It makes students ready for industry. Semester exams are very easy if we just understand and analyse courses of that particular semester. There are some pass or fail courses.
