Commonly asked questions
On Admissions

Q:   Does Jesus and Mary College accept CUET score?

A:

As of my last update in January 2022, Jesus and Mary College (JMC) in New Delhi, India, is affiliated with the University of Delhi. At that time, the University of Delhi primarily admitted students based on merit lists derived from board examination scores (such as CBSE or other relevant boards), rather than through entrance exams like the CUET (Common University Entrance Test).

However, educational policies and admission procedures can change over time, so I would recommend checking the official website of Jesus and Mary College or the University of Delhi for the most up-to-date information regarding their admission process and acceptance of the CUET score.

Amazing college amongst the all.
Placements: I don't think we have a placement option for the B.A. Programme department, whereas there is an option for the Commerce department and the Department of Economics. Well, I do not think that the Political Science department has a placement option, but I know that the Commerce department does have it. I'm reading an article of the placement cell of the college which mentioned that companies that came to college for placement are Wipro, Deloitte, HDFC, Axis Bank, Infosys, and a few more. I heard that they provide good packages also.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is so beautiful because firstly it is so big and well-constructed, meaning I got lost a few times in my first year. I still remember it took me one whole day to see every single corner of the college. It has two common rooms; both of them are amazing, and the amphitheater is so good. We also have three lifts in the college.
Faculty: The faculty is so nice. They make sure to complete the syllabus before time and make you understand every chapter so nicely. They provide you with notes before exams. If you have missed your class test, internal assessment, or assignment, they will give you many chances to submit it. Every teacher has their own and unique style of teaching, like Mark Sir teaches us about the facts, whereas Tanuja Mam tells us real-life stories, where we make our case study. All the professors of the Political Science department are tremendous.
Other: If I want to review my campus life in JMC, it is a dream come true. The crowd is so helpful and nice. What I notice is that JMC has the most crowd from DPS. If you like clubbing, Satya Niketan is near the college. It has amazing cafes and clubs. Every year, there is one fest also called Montage. Last time, Jasbir Jassi came to the college.

Top notch placement opportunities.
Placements: The placement ratio of our college is around 75%. The highest package a student grabbed was 23.05 LPA, the lowest was 6 LPA, and the average is 6.50 LPA and above. Top recruiting companies are Accenture, EY, KPMG, ICICI Bank, Wipro, Genpact, Godrej, MakeMytrip, ITC's Hotel Group, Axis Bank, and Nestle. Various internships are provided in the given SEC and VAC (Courses) that include streams like social media marketing, financial literacy, etc., with a stipend of up to 40k PM and an average of 12k PM. Last year, 300 students grabbed internship opportunities. In my course, the top roles offered are Data Analyst, Auditing, and HRM.
Infrastructure: Our college has the best infrastructure of any college in the university. We have a separate underground area with six labs that are fully connected to the Wi-Fi system. The library is huge, with thousands of books and articles, and a separate area with laptops for research and online learning. The canteen is always busy because the food is delicious and the portions are generous. The college also has excellent medical facilities. Sports are very important at JMC, and we have a large playing field for football, volleyball, badminton, and shooting. JMC girls have represented the college at the Olympics and won gold medals in shooting. The only downside is that there are no dormitories.
Faculty: The semester exams are average, but what matters is that JMC makes us industry-ready by skilling us up, not just for exams. The teachers are well qualified and have deep knowledge of their subjects and other subjects as well. When asked a question, they always have an answer.

A piece of my college youth.
Placements: Actually, I am an NCWEB student, so they don't provide placements for us. Although NCWEB is technically a regular program, students only need to come on Saturdays or Sundays due to pursuing other courses. We are called regularly for practicals, viva, and classes, so it's not like an open college. The lack of placement opportunities is expected because many students are involved in other professional courses and choose NCWEB.
Infrastructure: In terms of facilities and infrastructure, JMC is good for regular students but not for NCWEB students. They provide two large libraries for regular students, but for us, it's like a small store room that's not inviting. Our infrastructure, including our I-cards, seems very cheap. Compared to other colleges like Hansraj, which provide digital I-cards and libraries for NCWEB students, we feel neglected despite paying the same fees. When we approached the TIC, they were unhelpful and even shouted at us.
Faculty: Some teachers genuinely care about students and want them to succeed, while others are less invested and just go through the motions. The exams are tough, and although some students do well, there's a perception that not much is done about it.
Other: I chose this course just to complete my graduation because I need it for a foreign language course. My main concern is that the college does not offer fair treatment; regular students receive many more facilities and benefits, whereas we get very little. Festivals and events are managed by regular students, and while we are allowed to attend, we are not involved in activities or given scholarships.

Driving into the world of JMC.
Placements: 83% of students were placed successfully. The highest package being a literature major which was around 25-30,000. The average CTC was around 15-18000 and the lowest was Rs 10-15k. Around 72% of the students got internships. Many were taken as fellow bloggers, editors, etc.
Infrastructure: The college embodies a huge L Park, an amphitheater, a huge Multipurpose hall as well as two gyms that is one open gym area and another gym within the premises of the building. The canteen is huge along with another accompanying food caravan, one football ground and a basketball court.
Faculty: The faculty is extremely understanding and approachable. The English department is extremely helpful, inclusive, and accommodating. They provide assignments and notes, take CAs on time, and provide sufficient time to complete projects or assignments assigned.
Other: The course close is due to two reasons. Literature major students have a variety of courses to resort to from Law, Mass Communication, and Editing to foreign relations. The course material is informative, the faculty of English honours in JMC is one of the best and with the English department fest Literati, Diwali fest SPARSH it becomes all the more appealing.

Placements: Most students either go for higher studies or prepare for government exams after completing this course. As far as internships are concerned, students need to reach out to external sources themselves. Overall, the average package offered at the college was around 7 LPA.
Infrastructure: The facilities include a spacious amphitheater, an auditorium, well-equipped laboratories, a cafeteria, an indoor and outdoor gymnasium, a well-resourced library with both online and print material and more. The quality of food available in the mess and canteen is acceptable.
Faculty: The faculty in all the colleges of the University of Delhi is well qualified. The professors are very helpful when reached out to; they provide guidance and even study material to help out the students. The semester exams are not at all tough. The students need to focus on previous-year papers to be able to score well in their semester exams.
