Review of Jorhat Engineering College.
Placements: Around 70% of students are placed this year. The average salary package offered ranges from 5 LPA to 17 LPA. Top recruiters are OIL, Powergrid, Vedanta, Balco, BCPL, etc. All the students get internships from IOCL, NRL, ONGC, APDCL, AEGCL, APGCL, etc. Most of the students are offered executive roles.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure are of very good level. Classrooms are well-equipped enough. Wi-Fi is also available. The current situation of the library is not good enough but a G+3 central library is under construction and about to get finished. The canteen is also very good. Medical facilities are not well enough. In the case of sports and games, it is very good for the hostelers. Every hostel has its own playgrounds, and common big ground is also there. The gymnasium is very well-equipped as well.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are knowledgeable and qualified, but some are lazy and ignorant. Overall it is good. The curriculum is designed to get the students industry-ready and it is useful. Semester exams are not that difficult. The pass percentage is 40%.
Other: I opted for this course, because of my interest in this field. More number of teachers and more equipment in the laboratory can make this department better. Campus life is the best. All the hostels are united as well as a healthy rivalry is there. Every year a tech fest and a cultural fest are organised.

It is the best college in Assam for computer engineering.
Placements: Overall, the placement opportunities are good but don't expect large MNCs or private corporations to come here. You can get placed in semi-government companies like OIL India, NRL etc. Almost 60% of students get placed every year. The college also conducts self-development courses, which make students ready for the interview.
Infrastructure: The campus is huge, with every facility required for students. The hostel has Wi-Fi and every other facility required. There is also a large playground available inside the campus. The college has all the latest machines and equipment available for all the courses.
Faculty: The teachers in our college are top-notch. Maximum of the faculty members are PhD holders from reputed IITs. The teachers are friendly and also help their students in every situation. The examinations conducted by ASTU are somewhat difficult but can be managed if studied well.
Other: The course I chose landed me in Oil India as an engineer, which is great to kickstart my career. The fee is very nominal as this is a government college. The campus is located approximately 8km away from railway station and 10-15km from airport, which makes connectivity easy.

A good, reputed and cheap college to get a b. tech degree from.
Placements: Around 85% of students got placed in on-campus recruitment while many were able to secure a job in off campus placement. The top students are mostly recruited by psu like oil, nrl etc. Every year, the highest package is 9 lakhs per annum while the lowest is 3 lakhs per annum and the average package is 5 lakhs per annum. The top recruiting companies were Ibm, Microsoft etc.
Infrastructure: The college has free Wi-Fi, all kinds of labs to meet the needs of the student, a central library, smart classrooms etc. The quality of food is average in hostel, mess and canteen. It also has medical facilities and one can also play various sports and games.
Faculty: The teachers were really helpful and most of them have m. tech degrees either from iit or from jec itself. The teaching quality is good. The teachers help us out always. Recently, from 2018 the college has started offering b. tech degree and the course curriculum makes the student industry ready.
Other: B. tech in electrical engineering allows us to aim for both private and government jobs and also with the coming in of tesla to India, the job demand of electrical engineering is expected to increase by 2024.

Experience was alright because course fee was very less during my time.
Placements: Not very satisfactory. About 15-20% students of my batch got placed at the college campus. Some got placed in good PSU's but most of them are placed in IT companies. The average salary offered was about 30,000 rs per month. The highest salary offered was about Rs 1,00,000 per month.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure needs improvement. Most of the college buildings are of the old days. College library helps the students but should increase the number of books so that students do not have to buy books from outside. Sports and games are available for students residing in college hostels only.
Faculty: Most of the teachers were experienced in their fields. The senior teachers were knowledgeable. Some junior teachers lack proper knowledge. College should increase the number of teachers. The teachers were helpful to the students who were willing to learn. The course curriculum is relevant.

Placements and faculty members are good, and the infrastructure is decent.
Placements: Over a couple of years, there has been a great improvement in the placement activities in JEC. Along with private companies, many PSUs have conducted placement drives in JEC. The recent recruiters are OIL, NRL, Wipro, Vedanta PVT. LTD., TCS, Dabur etc. Most of the students eligible for placement drives have been placed successfully in several reputed companies. Companies do provide handsome packages to the students.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college has developed a lot in the past 4 years. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled, and LAN facilities are available in the hostel for hostel boarders. Classrooms have projectors for digital learning. Currently, the college has two canteens. A new canteen and an auditorium are under construction.
Faculty: The college has well-qualified and experienced faculty members serving the college for over a decade. The teaching methods are satisfactory. The student to teacher ratio has improved because of the new professors under the TEQIP programme. Classes are held regularly.
Other: The college conducts an annual cultural fest called Phoenix every year in March.
