BTech Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is one of the most popular specialisations. Candidates with BTech degrees are hired mostly in the technical fields. In addition, the degree holders can join jobs under profiles, including consultants, subject matter experts, researchers, managers etc. One of the popular career option after BTech CSE today is an analyst or data scientist. There is also scope in the field of research considering the growing application of data all around the world.

Government Model Engineering College (MEC), Kochi accepts KEAM entrance exam scores for admission to the BTech courses. MEC Kochi KEAM Cutoff 2024 was out, in which closing ranks in the last round varied between 1286 and 11394 for the students belonging to the General Home-State quota. The toughest course was BTech in Computer Science and Engineering.

Candidates need to pass Class 12 or equivalent pass with at least 50% aggregate in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Bio-technology/Computer Science/Biology taken together to apply for MEC Kochi BTech admission. Besides, aspirants also need to pass Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination for admission to BTech.

MEC Kochi fee include various components, such as the tuition fee, hostel fee, and more. The fee amount varies from one specialisation to another. In the total course fee, some components are paid every semester, while some are one-time chargeable. The total tuition fee range between INR 1.1 Lacs and INR 3 lakh. This fee amount is as per the official website/sanctioning body. It is however, subject to changes and hence, is indicative.

The fees (in INR) for B.Tech are as follows:

• Students who qualified entrance exams - 20,000 per semester.
• Migrant students - 35,000 per semester
• NRI student - 1.1 Lakhs per year

The fees (in INR) for M.Tech are as follows:

• Meritious students - INR 25000 per semester
• Migrant student - 30,000 per semester 

The fee for MCA is INR 22,500 per semester.

MEC Kochi does not offer direct admission. Candidates need to follow certain steps to join the college. Starting with fill out the application form for the preferred course. The selection for BTech programme Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination conducted every year by Government of Kerala. Besides, admission to M.Tech course is based on GATE score. Once selected, candidates need to participate in counselling and seat allotment.

For now, Model Engineering College Kochi does not accepts JEE score. Candidates are offered seats in BTech based on KEAM score. Allotment to 95% (50% merit- regulated fees and 45%- full fees) seats is made by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination (CEE), Government of Kerala. Once shortlisted, candidates need to pay the course fee to confirm their seat in the college.

The candidate can join MEC Kochi in M.Tech or any M.Tech speculations course by appearing in the graduate aptitude test in engeneering (GATE).

The candidate has to secure a minimum of 65% in the B.Tech or degree to apply for M.Tech in this college and also a minimum of 50% in the schooling time irrespective of any board either it may be of state board, CBSE or ICSE. THE total intake for M.Tech is 18 for CSE and 18 for electronics. The previous year cutoffs varies every year due to the completion of the course and the seat availability in the college.

MEC Kochi BTech course admission is entrance-based. The admission process involves application form filling, shortlisting of students based on KEAM score, and seat allotment. A cutoff list is released after conclusion of application procedure to declare minimum score required in examination for a candidate to become eligible for selection. Once selected, aspirants need to pay a course fee to confirm their seat in the college.
