Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   Does National Defence Academy offer lateral entry admission to B.Tech. students?

A:
No, lateral entry admission is not available to B.Tech. students at the National Defence Academy (NDA). Cadets are trained completely from start in all facets of military and academic training over the three-year NDA programme. Following a year of pre-commissioning training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) for Army cadets, the Air Force Academy (AFA) for Air Force cadets, and the Naval Academy (NA) for Navy cadets, cadets are commissioned as officers in their respective branches as part of the programme.

Q:   How difficult is it to get admission for B.Tech at NDA Pune?

A:

Admission to NDA Pune is entirely based on candidates' performance in the NDA entrance exams, making it comparatively tougher than many other colleges. In addition, the NDA exam is conducted by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). National Defence Academy Pune, offers limited seats in the BTech programme. So, the competition is tough, however, the NDA exam just needs aspirants to be smart and hard-working to cover English, GK, Maths and Science Subjects in the required time period.

Q:   What is the minimum requirement to become eligible for NDA Pune BTech programme?

A:

Candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics & Mathematics as mandatory subjects to become eligible for NDA Pune BTech programme.

Q:   How can I get admission to NDA Pune?

A:

To get admission to NDA Pune, students must pass Class 12 as per the required eligibility. After that, aspiring candidates have to register on the official website of UPSC and appear for the NDA Entrance exam. The final selection is done with a personal interview and a mandatory medical examination. The college runs its admission cycle twice a year in two sessions, i.e., NDA- 1 and NDA- 2.

Q:   Is Class 12th compulsory for admission to NDA?

A:

Yes, NDA has similar eligibility and selection criteria for every course. As per the NDA's eligibility criteria, every aspiring student must pass Class 12 for selection. For admission to Army, students need to pass Class 12 by State Education Board or a University and for Force & Navy Class 12 is required with PCM as the main subject.
