A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.

Faculty members are good. Placements are good, but one has to compromise with infrastructure.
Placements: The batch size of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering for placements is 120, and last year, we achieved 100% placement for all students. Top recruiters included Vedanta, ABG, and BlackRock. The highest salary package offered is 17 LPA, and both the median and average salary package offered is 9 LPA.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are very good with air conditioning, and a projector. The whole campus is Wi-Fi enabled. Medical facilities are also good. There is a dispensary for medical issues, and if the issue is not resolved then we have to go to the hospital. The amount invested in the hospital is refunded by the college.
Faculty: Faculty members are very supportive and helpful. They also give advice on what to do next in the future to get placed. They also help us with projects, and if we have any business ideas then we can go to the respected teacher, and they will guide us, which is truly valuable.
Other: If one is placement-oriented, then the NIT Jamshedpur is best.

Teachers are not satisfactory.
Placements: There are different placements in department branches and courses, but overall placement is 80% and above. In the Physics Department, the highest salary package is 10 LPA and the lowest salary package is 5 LPA. Companies like Allen, Unacademy, PW, Aakash, etc., are among the recruiters. In edtech companies, there is almost zero percent internship, but a summer internship program is held for various Institutes of Physics, allowing students to go there and complete their internships in Physics, teaching, or data analysis.
Infrastructure: NIT Jamshedpur classrooms are spacious, well-maintained, and well-equipped. The entire campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled. Labs are located in the old building, but all lab equipment is available. Classrooms are fully air-conditioned and have Wi-Fi. The library is excellent, with all necessary facilities. Hostels are the best I have seen in any top-ranked college. The building is in great condition, and every student has their room. The food quality is also good, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options served. The college canteen is reliable and offers good food. Every student has medical insurance worth 5 lakhs. There is a small clinic for minor problems, which is free of charge. For major issues, students are taken to the best hospital in the city, and all expenses are reimbursed. There are numerous sports events throughout the year. Different types of sports are played in the college, and a competitive league called Urja, similar to the Olympics, is held every year.
Faculty: All teachers are very qualified, but I can't say every teacher is knowledgeable. Only three teachers have sufficient knowledge of their subject, and rest are just a burden on the students. If you are going to be admission to this NIT, please do some research before making a decision. The teaching faculty is not good. The course curriculum is also not ideal. As a Physics student, I feel there should be a programming language included, but they don't have enough skilled faculty to teach it. The difficulty of the exam is moderate. Students can pass easily if they just follow the notes provided by the teachers. A 35% score is required to pass the examination.
Other: I chose Physics because I like this subject, but in this institute, students may feel like they made a big mistake. However, don’t panic. If students want to achieve something, focus on self-learning. I hope there will be good and smart teachers in the future because, after two years, no knowledgeable professors will remain as most are retiring. Only arrogant and overconfident teachers will be left. There is no scholarship offered. The campus is open, and anyone can enter without permission. Surroundings have nothing except villages, giving you the feeling of living in one. A cultural fest is held once every year.

Better placements than any other nits in this range.
Placements: 98% of students get placed. The highest package was 83 lakh, the average was 15 lakh, and the CSE was 26 lakh. Adobe, Amazon, Atlasssian, Flipkart, BNY, etc. About 40% of students got interns at BNY, Amazon, etc. SDE roles were offered. Off-campus placements also offered good.
Infrastructure: Facilities are not that good. The classroom is good. The library is old. The hostel facilities are not good. Food is okay. There are 3-4 canteens. Medical facilities are also good. Sports and games are also good. Infrastructure is not good. Almost every building is very old.
Faculty: Teachers are not helpful. Almost every professor is a Ph.D. holder. Teaching quality is good. The curriculum is not relevant. No, these don't make you industry-ready. Semester exams are easy in some semesters and tough in others. You can secure 8.5 cgpa easily in easy sem.
Other: I chose this course because of industry demand and placement. They should improve their course structure. They teach totally irrelevant things. Events are better. The surroundings are totally bad. For category students, there are many scholarships. And also for general three, there are some scholarships.

Teachers are well-qualified. Placements are better than other NITs. Campus life is good.
Placements: First of all, I am a civil engineering student in the NIT Jamshedpur 2027 batch. In 2024, 95 students registered, out of which 85 got placed. The highest package was 14.4 LPA, and the average package was 8.08 LPA, with the median being 6.50 LPA. Some of the major recruiting companies are L&T, ZS, JISCO, and Bank of India for the assistant manager post. In the 3rd year, 4-5 students get internships, but in the 4th year, students apply for different companies for internships, and most of them get placed.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is really good, and the classrooms are awesome, with every class having air-conditioned rooms. Hostels are really good, and every boy student gets a single room from the 2nd year so that they can utilize their time. Mess food is good, with chicken and biryani served four times a week. Hostels are equipped with Wi-Fi and LAN in every corner. The playgrounds are average.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and qualified. Almost everyone is Ph.D. qualified and involved in research activities. One can pass the semester exams by paying attention in class, as only what the teacher teaches comes in the exam. However, this teaching doesn't make you industry-ready.
Other: I chose this course because I want to start my construction company. Core knowledge is really needed to be good in civil. Fests and events are normal. Scholarships are really the best thing I found good in this college. The campus is really big.

NIT, Jamshedpur- Should I join or not?
Placements: Last year, around 95% of students were placed in the Mechanical Engineering course. Though I do not have a particular idea about the highest or the lowest package, the median was about 9 LPA. The companies that were recruiting were JSL, Accenture, ICICI, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, L&T, etc. The roles offered were data analyst, manager, and teaching roles, etc.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are quite well-designed, with AC and Wi-Fi facilities provided. The library also has similar facilities. The labs are a bit old, with some equipment not working, but the knowledgeable faculty members are quite interested in teaching the students about everything that is required for the subject. The hostel facilities are okay. From the 2nd year onwards, we get allotted a single-occupancy room with LAN and Wi-Fi facilities provided. The only downside is that if anything doesn't function, one can assume it may be fixed after a long period of time. The food quality is okay, with the quality slightly degrading over the period of a semester. The sports facilities are good; enthusiasts can play as per their wishes.
Faculty: The faculty are quite knowledgeable and have deep insight into what they are teaching. Some professors are enthusiastic, while some are laid-back, though this does not detract from their deep knowledge. Some of the subjects are not quite relevant, but the course is also acquiring new subjects like AI/ML and robotics, etc., to make the course as updated as possible. The semester exams are moderately tough, with students being able to pass if they have proper ideas and have studied the subject thoroughly.

All About NIT Jamshedpur by a 2nd year student.
Placements: Placements are pretty decent here. The average package offered for this course was 25LPA in the previous year with the highest of 83 LPA. Top Recruiters were Atlassian, Amazon etc. 30% students got internships in Computer Science department in the above companies. The roles offered in Computer Science are that of software engineer and data analyst.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is decent. The main lecture hall is awesome with all the facilities like Wi-Fi, projector, big classrooms and everything else. The hostels are nice with decent buildings. In this college, you get a single room from 2nd year onwards and a double sharing room in the first year.
Faculty: The faculty is similar to the other colleges. They don't care to teach, neither are the students interested in learning because the course structure is totally outdated and not useful. Their way of teaching is also horrible. The semester exams are not really tough, you can easily pass them with 1 week of efforts getting good grades.
