Absolutely satisfied with the faculty as it ensures better placement percentage with decent CTC.
Placements: In 2024, the electrical branch achieved a placement rate of 92.59%. The highest package offered is 82 LPA, the average package is 14.78 LPA, and the lowest package is 5 LPA. Top recruiting companies for the EE branch are Amazon, Flipkart, Microsoft, Infosys, and Tata Steel. At Jamshedpur, approximately 80% to 90% of students secure internships during their course of study. Companies involved in internships are Alstom, Tata Motors, Tata Cummins, KPMG, and Adobe. Roles offered are Software Development Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Data Analyst, and Project Engineer.
Infrastructure: The entire campus, including classrooms, library, and labs, is equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity, helping students to get seamless internet facilities. The branch has its own specialized labs such as Power Electronics lab, Microprocessor lab, Electrical Measurement lab, and Electrical Machines lab. Classrooms are designed as a healthy environment to study with air conditioning, smart projectors, and Wi-Fi connectivity installed with proper functioning. The library includes a periodical section, separate reading hall, book bank, and separate branch-wise books and materials. The 1st-year hostel is provided with facilities like a night canteen and a playground which includes volleyball and a badminton court. The quality of mess food is overall good with medical availability 24/7.
Faculty: The teachers here are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. They always show up when we need them, in terms of either academic or non-academic doubts. The teaching quality is overall good, but sometimes they make it feel like they are not expressible, but overall they are good. Yes, the course curriculum is relevant, with fundamentals like electrical machines, power systems, and electronics. Collaboration with industries for the curriculum ensures that content meets industry standards. Mid-semester is quite difficult in comparison to the end semester. There is no such pass percentage in the exam, but one needs to clear subject-wise cutoffs.
Other: I was passionate about this course as it involves subjects related to future development. This department is a versatile branch with applications across industries like power, automation, and electronics. The best things about this course are practical learning opportunities, research, and innovation. Things that should be improved are industry alignment, more industry-centric courses, practical exposure, internship opportunities, and soft skill development. In college, there are tech fests, cultural fests, and sports fests. The campus hosts a diverse mix of students, fostering a multicultural environment. The connectivity is really good, with Tatanagar station nearby and a bus stand too. Students can apply for scholarships too, based on merit.

Electrical branch, NIT Jamshedpur.
Placements: I am persuing my B.Tech 1st year electrical engineering. In 2024, almost 100% of students in the electrical branch got placed with the salary package of 16 LPA - 84 LPA. The average salary package offered in the electrical branch is 18 LPA. Top recruiters include Atlassian, Accenture, etc. The internship offers for our branch are applausable. Around 60-70% of students get internships every year. Top roles include data analyst, software engineer, and some core jobs.
Infrastructure: Facilities are not available all the time, especially during the exam time. Wi-Fi is not available all the time. The network is not working. Some of the labs are excellent, but some are average. The college is developing its infrastructure. It will be excellent in the future.
Faculty: Faculty members at NIT Jamshedpur are highly qualified and knowledgeable. Doubt clearing is not tough as the communication between teachers and students is nice. Students are given world-class lectures as expected from any NI. Internship and training programs are easily available. Semester exams are quite difficult. They are of high level. It is easy for any student who attends college regularly.

If you are just inclined towards decent placement, this would be a good college.
Placements: Only placements are available here. Till the end of the year, it will go around 90% placements in the CSE course. Placements are very good in ECE. Placements in electrical and other courses are decent. Students can expect a salary package of 6 LPA - 7 LPA if they are average among their branchmates, so they have to take care of it.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very poor. NIT Jamshedpur has an open campus. There is a busy road surrounded by running vehicles. I hate this thing. They are constructing some hostels and playgrounds. The development process is in progress. The Internet facility is also very poor. In some rooms, the internet is available but many rooms do not have it.
Faculty: Exams are conducted every 2 months which include mid-semester and end-semester. Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable, but students didn't study and got poor marks. Questions are asked from the past year only. The difficulty level is easy to moderate.
Other: There is no college life in our college. The campus is small. There is nothing in our college.

Infrastructure is developing slowly.
Placements: About 90 percent of the students who sat in placement got placed in our course. The highest placement was 82 LPA, the average was about 15 LPA, and the lowest was about 8 LPA. The companies were Atlassian, Havells, Philips, Tata, Adani, etc. In the third year, about 35 students out of 113 got internships, and in the final year, about 60 students got an internship offer.
Infrastructure: All facilities are available in college, but some do not work quite efficiently. For example, in most of the rooms of the hostel, the Wi-Fi does not connect, and there is a network problem all over the hostels. The quantity of food in the hostel is not a matter; it is just difficult for vegetarians to cope with that quality. All classes are held in the new lecture hall, which is fully air-conditioned, and the classes are also very good. The medical facilities are also very good. One can get a checkup by the doctor and instantly get medicine.
Faculty: The faculty are very good and helpful. Most of them are highly qualified. In our branch, the faculty are very supportive. They make the children feel comfortable with the course and curriculum. The semester exam is between moderate and tough, but almost all students make it to pass it with a decent CGPA.
Other: I chose this course because this was the best I was getting with my JEE rank, and I wanted to go into a circuit branch. The placements in this college are decent. The campus can be improved by improving the infrastructure.

Why you should be careful while choosing a college, good college in terms of placement.
Placements: Almost all get placed here. Heights go up to 80 LPA and on average 15 LPA. All top MNCs come here. For CSE, ECE, and Electrical, this doesn't matter; you are most likely to get a place. Talking about core meta and PI, mechanicals are very good. Academics is average.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is not that good. 4 hostels for girls with 3 occupancies in a single room for B. Tech for Boys hostel facility is quite good for NLPOW and many more hostels are being built here. Talking about lecture hall, it is a good 3-floor building with a coloured ground.
Faculty: Class curriculum is very bad. Teachers teach averagely. Although some teachers are good, some don't know how to teach. If you know the technique, you can score a good cg but taking about electrical, it is good to score cg for CSE. It’s also easy. But for ECE PI, it is hard as 1 teacher is bad.
Other: I chose it because it was closer to my home. The best thing is the placement is good. I can improve more about the teaching style. Fests time is good.

{Source: M.Sc. students & alumni}

Here's a summary of the pros and cons of pursuing M.Sc. at NIT Jamshedpur:

Pros:

* Excellent faculty: Faculty members are helpful, and their teaching quality is good. Most professors hold a Post-Doc degree in their respective subjects and are well-qualified.
* Research-oriented curriculum: The course design focuses on preparing students for higher studies (Ph.D.) and research, making it ideal for those interested in pursuing advanced degrees.
* Good infrastructure: The campus offers modern facilities such as air-conditioned classrooms, libraries with Wi-Fi, and single-occupancy hostels with amenities like lifts, Wi-Fi, and furniture.
* Decent placements: Although the placement record might not be exceptional, students receive decent offers from companies like EdTech, Physics Wallah, and others, with average packages ranging from INR6-12 Lacs per annum.
* Festivals and extracurricular activities: The college hosts various festivals and has multiple societies for extracurricular activities, providing opportunities for students to develop their interests outside academics.

Cons:

* Limited industry connections: As mentioned by several students, the college receives mostly educational background companies, and industrial background companies rarely visit the campus.
* No placements in Chemistry department: Unfortunately, the college doesn't seem to focus on recruitment in the Chemistry department, resulting in limited placement opportunities for students in this field.
* High competition: With over 90% of students getting placed from the college, competition for limited slots can be intense.
* Average hostel food: Students reported that the hostel food was not great, especially for North Indians who had to adapt to the local cuisine.

In conclusion, while NIT Jamshedpur's M.Sc. programme has its strengths, such as excellent faculty and infrastructure, it may not be the best fit for everyone due to limitations in industry connections and placements. However, for those interested in pursuing higher studies or research, it could be a suitable option.
