Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   What was the median package offered to BTech students during Shri GS Institute of Technology & Science Indore placements 2023?

A:

The average package given to BTech students in the 2023 placements at the Shri GS Institute of Technology & Science (SGSITS) in Indore was 10 LPA. In other words, half of the students who landed jobs got paid at least 10 LPA, while the other half was paid less.Since it is unaffected by extremely high or low incomes, the median package is a better approach to comprehend the average package. The college offers us a good time to spend in college and can build up our network.
Placements: Companies in my college offer a dynamic range of packages. This selects students for different roles in the company. Companies like Tata, Infosys, and Deloitte visit our campus. Our TPO has a very good relationship with the company HR. The college is doing its best to provide placements.
Infrastructure: The college has Wi-Fi enabled throughout the campus, which offers decent speed. Classrooms and the library are good enough and can accommodate a good number of students. The college has a canteen too on the campus, and stationery is also available on the college campus.
Faculty: The faculty is all well qualified. The majority of them are Ph.D. holders in their respective fields. The teachers are available even outside of the classroom to help us out in every respect in which they can, and the curriculum we were taught is very much relevant to the industries.
Other: The campus is only 32 acres, which is not much but is a lot in Indore main city. It has high connectivity to the railway station, which is only 300 m away from it.

Brief bootup of Shri G. S. Institute of Technology and Science.
Placements: The placement statistics for my branch are very good, with around 80% of students getting placed every year. There are many companies that take part in the placement process, and they have different placement rounds. The core companies of every branch come every year, and the ratio of IT companies is higher than that of other branches.
Infrastructure: The Shri G. S. Institute of Technology and Science campus has a mix of old and new buildings. Some departments are housed in newly constructed buildings, while others are in buildings that date back to the college's founding in 1852. Some of the older buildings are in need of renovation. ATC and LT are two new buildings that provide a beautiful environment for students. The campus also has many gardens.
Faculty: The faculty at Shri G. S. Institute of Technology and Science are very experienced and well-trained, with most having at least a master's degree in their field. Some even have a PhD. All of them have a vast knowledge of their subjects and a lot of practical experience.
Other: College have very nice environment.

This college has good placements, faculty, alumni network and connectivity.
Placements: Around 65% of the students get placed from electronics and telecommunications while the others prepare for competitive exams like GATE, CAT, etc. The highest package offered was 37 LPA and the lowest was 3.5 LPA. Top recruiters are TCS, Cognizant and Deloitte.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very old and poor, most of the equipments are not working. The Library is quite good. The hostel it is just okay. There is poor wifi but the canteen is good. Sports and games are very poor as there is only one playground which too is very small.
Faculty: Mostly the old professors are really knowledgeable, their teaching sense is extraordinary. But then the new faculty members are not that good, you'll need youtube to study. The curriculum is up to date as the college is autonomous. Semester exams are tough but you can score decent by solving previous year papers and reading class notes. Passing percentage varies from subject to subject and depends on the faculty too. There is extremely strict checking done for some of the subjects, even then the passing percentage is 90%.
Other: Fees is very less for the placements offered, so it's definitely value for money. I chose EnTc because it opens two paths for me, I could go for software and also for the core. I think the labs are to be taken care of by the college. There are very less events in the college. The management is very strict and orthodox. Many of the events are not permitted after 7 pm. During fest, boys and girls are not allowed to sit together. Connectivity is the best part as the college is in the middle of the city, the railway station is extremely close being within 1 km radius and the airport is at a distance of 14 km. If you belong to the SC/ST category, you will get a scholarship. Also, if you are an MP domicile, you can get MMVY scholarship. Again, there’s not much extracurricular activity happening. The teachers don't support at all. So if you want a good college life, it's really difficult here but you can make it good by yourself, can't rely on the college.

Review of SGSITS college by Aman Verma .
Placements: 70% of the students who have never been detained in college and maintained their CGPA above 7 are likely to be placed with a decent package. The highest package was 45 LPA last year, the lowest package was of 7 LPA and average package is 12–15 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Goldman Sachs, Wipro, etc.
Infrastructure: Talking about the infrastructure of our college, it is average. Like our college, it has all the necessary labs, classrooms, two libraries, a gymnasium, and playgrounds. Now talk about the hostel facilities, hostel food is not that good, medical facilities are provided, and there is a playground where we can play cricket, volleyball, basketball, etc.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are helpful and have good knowledge of their respective fields. Yes, my course curriculum is relevant. It makes us industry-ready to some extent. Semester exams are not that tough at this college. The pass percentage at our college is 75%.
Other: I chose this course because, in this modern world, there would be a huge demand of items like silicon chip, etc. So I chose electronics and telecommunication engineering and last years package was of 45 LPA from this very branch. Many events are organized by this college regularly. Annual Fest AAYAM is organized. Scholarships are also provided to the students.

    SGSITS, Indore placements and campus.
Placements: It is quite an old and renowned college in Madhya Pradesh and has a good reputation. But now the college is not performing well in terms of placement. The highest placement was around 39 lacs. Placements are decent and clearly based on merit and numbers.
Infrastructure: It is located in the middle of Indore and has a small campus, which is somehow better because the railway station is nearby and you get better connectivity. You don't need to walk too much for labs and classes. There are hostels present in the college but there is less bed availability.
Faculty: There are well-qualified faculty members from IITs. Exams and assignments are quite frequent and you will be busy throughout the semester and will have very little time for your own work. ECE is a good branch and gave the highest placement this year. You can consider the college.

    Q:   Is SGSITS good for B.E. / B.Tech?

    A:
    {Source: B.E. / B.Tech students & alumni}

    Is SGSITS Good for B.E./B.Tech?

Here's a summary of the key points:

    * Infrastructure: The college's infrastructure is average, with some old buildings and limited resources.
    * Hostel Facilities: The hostels are decent, but the food quality is not great, and maintenance is poor.
    * Facilities: The college has a big library with a computer lab, and Wi-Fi is available in some areas.
    * Teaching Quality: Faculty members are generally helpful and knowledgeable, but some may have varying levels of enthusiasm.
    * Course Curriculum: The curriculum is relevant and prepares students for industry requirements, but some students felt it could be improved.
    * Placements: About 95% of students get placed, with the highest package going up to INR45 LPA. Top recruiters include Goldman Sachs, Oracle, and Deutsche Bank.
    * Internships: Around 10% of students get internships, with top roles like GET and developer.
    * Events: While not frequent, the college does organize events like Aayaam, and there's an Alumni Network.

Overall, SGSITS seems to have its strengths and weaknesses. While it faces challenges in terms of infrastructure and facilities, the teaching staff and course curriculum seem to be strong points. Additionally, the college's placement record is notable, indicating that students are employable upon graduation. However, more attention might be needed to improve living conditions and amenities.

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

    A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.

CSE is the best branch if we see in a long term as placements are more for that branch. SGSITS provides better placements from campus than JEC but SGSITS is costlier to afford. JEC is better place for economically weaker. In 1 lakh, you can complete your degree (only tuition fee is included).
