Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.

Reality of TCET is that it is the worst engineering college.
Placements: Training and placement cell at Thakur College charges Rs.3,700 to make students eligible for placement. The average salary package is 3 LPA. Companies like Capgemini, Accenture, Zycus, TCS, Oracle, and Zeus offer placements. The college does not provide internships.
Infrastructure: Our college has a reading room, library, and reference section from where we can access books, newspapers, and magazines. The entire college is air-conditioned. Hostel facility is available near the college, but it is costly. There is no mess facility, so students have to arrange food on their own. There are various clubs for sports and social and professional development.
Faculty: All the faculty members are M.Teach graduates and PhD holders, but they don't teach properly. The teaching is not good, and the course curriculum doesn't make us industry-ready. Semester exams are easy to tackle, but practical and oral exams require good preparation. If a student is unable to clear a regular exam, they can appear for a supplementary exam. If a student fails in supplementary exam, they have to appear for the ATKT exam. Exam preparation can be done through various YouTube channels.
Other: I chose this college because of my MHT CET score, I wouldn't recommend anyone to take an admission in this college.

The worst engineering college in the world is Thakur College of Engineering and Technology.
Placements: The percentage of students placed was less than 50 percent in the electronics and computer science branch. Many students struggle to get a 3 LPA job. The highest package was obtained by only one person at 10 LPA from IDFC Bank. Companies that come for recruitment include Capgemini, Accenture, Zycus, TCS, and Oracle. Internships are not provided by the college; we have to search for them on our own.
Infrastructure: Many of the laboratory equipment is faulty. Food is good in the canteen, and the library also has a good set of books. Medical facilities are available in the college, and there is a sick room. There is a common room to play indoor games, which you only get in the first year. To become a part of the college sports team, you have to pay extra charges.
Faculty: Faculties don’t teach properly. The curriculum is outdated, and a lot of your time gets wasted attending lectures and traveling to college. The college curriculum is not useful at all. The course can’t make you worth 1,000 rupees per month.
Other: Please save your money and time, and don't think of joining this college. The college academics can’t prepare you even for TCS.

Overall, the college is decent.
Placements: Being a second-year engineering student currently, I'm not fully aware of the placements and how much students are satisfied with the placement grounds that take place at Thakur College of Engineering and Technology. However, there is a Training and Placement Cell (T&P Cell) in the college, which is responsible for conducting the training activities for students so that they secure a good placement at the company they desire.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of Thakur College of Engineering and Technology is one of the finest in Mumbai. This development, as far as I know, has occurred in recent years. However, some care should be taken to make sure that components, Wi-Fi connectivity and PCs with up-to-date software necessary for students are available in every lab according to the needs of the lab, as it is not always up to par.
Faculty: Teachers here are helpful and can give you information if you approach them. Classroom sessions are also decent with a good teaching environment due to smart board, AC, projector, etc. curriculum in general, which is taught in most of the engineering colleges here, is not very relevant as compared to what is actually required in the industry today. So, of one's aim is to just score good marks in college exams, the syllabus is enough. But if you want to apply that knowledge after you complete your graduation, you need to study the current trends. Here, the teachers might be of some help, as they can guide you through their personal knowledge as well as help you connect with some alumni in the desired field.

Short overview of the college for new students.
Placements: The placement season for the 2024 batch was not good as compared to previous batches due to a market slowdown. To compensate for this situation, the college came up with sales jobs for engineering students with a minimum package of 3 LPA, which in my opinion is not good for an engineering student. Hopefully, the next batch will get good placement drives with a better package.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is quite good; the canteen has a good seating arrangement, has open areas and a small garden to hang out with friends. They have recently upgraded the systems and curriculum of my electronics department (which is now the electronics and computer science department) and various other equipment as part of the curriculum study.
Faculty: Many of the faculty members are helpful; they will try to help and solve your query but sometimes they themselves don't have proper knowledge of the subject they teach. The attendance policy of the college says to attend 75% but many of the students just write remedials and get along with it.
Other: I got six semesters to experience college campus life (since was from covid batch) and I would say the college crowd is good and individuals have many opportunities to learn different skills only if they wish to learn and show genuine interest. There are many technical team that you can be part of from your second year, which helps you gain practical knowledge of the learning they get from theoretical studies, They also organize many college events, such as SOJOURN, T-SPARK, REFLEX, ZEPHYR, etc. For which individual can enjoy and also be part of organizing groups, there are also social body groups like NSS, NCC, EWT, etc. in which you can be part.

In short, the college is good enough in infrastructure but in time management, it is poor.
Placements: 1) In my course, its takes 85 percentile minimum for to be admitted. 2) The highest package can be 10 to 15 LPA and the lowest package is 3 to 4 LPA. 3) TCS, Capgemini, L&T, etc. companies are the top recruiters. 4) The in-house internship is for students at the college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the Thakur College of Engineering and Technology is very good. The campus is also well maintained and the classrooms and halls are also good. It has separate grounds for sports activities, and many more things are there in the college.
Faculty: The faculty is average, not that good but some faculty members are very good at giving lectures and have excellent knowledge about the course survey. The exams are held at the college, which is very disciplined about the exams and very strict with extracurricular activities.
Other: I did not choose this course; it is my luck that I got it from this college in the cap allotment .
